Re: 9. Brent Prismall

just about every time he kicked the ball today and hitted a target :)

What.

Inspectorman you are detracting from this board. Try not posting for about a year.

Prismall did not hit his target every time, I thought he was quite rusty in the beginning of the game, but worked his way in.

Though, there was one beatiful kick coming out of defence where he hit his target 50m away in the middle of a couple of crows. Bodes well for the future.

Seemed to me like his tackles stuck, and he had quite a few as well. Another hard body to compliment the light weights in Lovett, Zaha, Reimers etc will be good.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

Bit under done a couple games plus the break this week and he will be fresh

Cats didn`t want to lose him. Salary cap in all its glory. Very much like forcing Bewick to retire and losing Cara and Blumfield. Finally we are the beneficiary`s (sp?) of the salary cap working our way. Priz will develop into an un-droppable (is that a word ?) Magnificent pick up.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

Prismall is starting to look really good. I love the fact that he just gets in there and does his job without showing off or attention seeking.

VERY quick and accurate decision maker, great addition. The speed of decision is something we've lacked in our midfield since Hirdy retired, our only other extremely quick decision maker is McVeigh.

Now we should go after Gamble seeing they aren't playing him either - a mid-sized, high leaping forward would slot straight in! :thumbsu:

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

He's looked a bit sluggish the past 2 weeks to me.

Probably a bit of a flat spot on return to senior footy, would be a hard slog. however, he has been pretty servicable still, so if that is sluggish, then its great.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

Great season (or half of one) for someone coming of a knee reco. Was my favourite non-Essendon player in 2008 and was stoked when we got him for 2009.

He could really have a big year in 2010 as I'm expecting him to cop the 2nd or 3rd tag behind Winderlich and/or Stanton. Will breakout in 2011.

Brent Prismall to lead from front

WITH a full pre-season behind him Brent Prismall could be the wildcard in Essendon's midfield this year.

Puff piece and NAB cup is getting me excited.
Doesn't say much that hasn't already been written about other than how much better the list is injury-wise and how he will benefit from the pre-season and help out in the middle.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

Yep but good signs regardless.
He did have a few lulls and average games, but to get 20-odd touches after a knee IMHO is pretty good and something to build on.
Watson, Winderlich, Prismall, McVeigh, Stanton in that order. A nice mix of talents.

Agree, not one spud between them, and since our glory days, there has always been a few blemishes in our midfield stocks. Strongest in a long time.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

Not only for pure talent.
If we can get those 5 going for most of the season, plus Welsh and/or Hocking as heavy lifting types, we'll be a much better side. McVeigh, Watson, Welsh/Hocking getting it out to Stanton, Winders, Prismall. And McVeigh and Hocking also capable of playing more outside roles.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

One thing I've noticed is that he seems to fill the space behind the man on the mark when teams are zoning against us, when IMO he should be clearing it out, and letting someone lead into there and gain 20-30 metres. That tactic worked fantastically well against Hawthorn (with Prismall a key part of that iirc) but over the last couple of weeks he seems to be getting in the way there.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on that, Longy.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

Haven't noticed it, didn't watch him that closely off the ball tonight, but thought he used it a lot better. Running into some form.

I'll keep an eye out next week.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

When we have the ball and the opposition put their zone up Prismall is always in a position where we can kick it to him. He sits himself 20-30 meters from the man with the ball, clear of his opponent so that if we can't find an option downfield he is always there to keep play moving. Is very smart, but Knights probably tells him to do so also.
