so therefore ablett is a better player.

edit: also ablett is a far better forward than hodge.
Ablett 136 games for 179 goals
Hodge 120 games for 80 goals.

and why on earth would you waste these players at half back?

the whole versatility thing is stupid. pretty much all mids can play HB and HF as well.

Well, Ablett was used up forward for a few seasons, so best you think before posting champ:thumbsu:

Ablett - Better midfielder
Hodge - More versatile

You must be forgetting Ablett ws one of the better small forwards in the league for a few years before moving to the midfield.

bah hodge was wasted at HB for the first five years of his career and he's closing on a goal a game average. Ablett was wasted at HF for the first five years of his career and his goal average will be coming down. I voted Hodge because he hurts people.

who is the better player of the two ?

ablett = all Australian, most valuable player award ,coaches player of the year and premiership player

hodge= all Australian

I rate three out of the four honours you put up for ablett. His dad wasn't a premiership player either, you can't count that. Martin Pike was a 4x PP for god's sake.

Impossible to tell... Simmilar players, yes, however, hodge is getting 25-30 touches per match being tagged and not being helped by his teammates, whilst Ablett is getting help! would he be able to do it without help? Who knows? but as we do not have proof, can only go by what we can see, so Hodge. I will change my mind if i can see Ablett win the ball better without help.

You didn't mention that Hodge played his early years in defence while Ablett looked like he was never going to be much more than a forward pocket. Gee I wonder why Ablett has more goals.

you hawthorn supporters are embarassingly bias! open your eyes

ablett is clearly the better player as we speak, last year was voted the best player in the league in a number of awards, club BnF in best team in the land needs to be added to that list. currently b-low fav and more than likely leading the award along with countless others..
to say ablett isnt currently a better player is foolish and shows a lack of football nouse

i believe arguing who may become the better player is more realistic for hodge supporters..

both players are better than chris dudd anyway.

Ablett cops the best tagger as well as racking up the most possessions in the comp, and averaging the 2nd most contested possesions.
Hodge dosen't get the best tagger, Mitchell does. You are a deluded 1 eyed Hawk supporter.

i don't see ablett getting much help at all really, and he usually cops the best tagger, with the exception of the 1st quarter of the game against north, but then they moved rawlings onto him.

Really.

Lets see who Rawlings plays on this weekend. I guarantee you it won't be Mitchell unless you think that Rawlings is not North's nu 1 tagger.

All Hawks supporters would agree that Ablett is currently in better form. However there is a difference in who people think is a better player or who you would prefer to be at your club. I would still choose Hodge, he is the general at Hawthorn and the awards/medals will come in due course.

This year Bateman/Sewell have been in better form than Kerr so does this make them better players then Kerr, I don't think so!

I never said Ablett does or doesnt get the best tagger. I merely said that his teammates go out of the way to help him, unlike in Hodge's case....

I think you are the deluded one:D

so therefore ablett can play forward AND midfield! damn he's so versitile.

more versitile than hodge i believe.

another reason why ablett is better than hodge is that ablett is good enough for the geelong players to help out, hawthorn dont waist their time and effort to help out hodge because hes not that good

if thats how you want to see it. The way I see it is Ablett is not good enough to shrug a tag himself and needs his team to help him. Hodgey shrugs the tag himself:thumbsu:

Ablett got 20 contested possessions on the weekend, whilst Kornes was hanging off him, he never needed his teammates help.
Your a poor attempt at a troll Mitchell Madness.

Both exceptional players for each club respectively. But Hodge was born to play the Hawthorn style of footy and fits our team perfectly. Love his hard hitting play at the ball and cool head under pressure. Like Ablett, you always expect something to happen when he gets near the ball.
