Hmm nope, the only reason why Scully went at #1 was because they thought he could handle the pressure better then Trengove could.

Oh really? Couldn't have been for his abilities, skills and talents could it? I could just see them sitting around the table on draft day...

"Guys, I reckon Trengove should be the number one pick. He has all the makings of being a superstar... but, hold on a second, this Scully bloke looks like he could handle the #1 pick mantle better than Trengove. Let's go with him instead, we don't need to know anything else..."

Both of them could have handled it easily. Scully got the nod. But thanks for playing.

So why are most Melbourne supporters saying they think Trengove is the better player and has the higher ceiling?

All the talk at the time was about who they would take at #1 and #2, when it was known they would receive both picks all talk turned to Trengove and Scully, which one was going at #1.

At the time it was thought that Scully was better prepared mentally of being a #1 Draft pick then Trengove.

And the bolded part, what the heck does that even mean, 'thanks for playing'.

Who's saying that? I certainly haven't. When we didn't have the priority picks it was common knowledge that we would take Scully with that first pick. When we got that priority pick we had the option to decide who to take first and we still went with Scully. Simple.

Yeah, I remember all this talk. Would appear to have got that one wrong.
