I'm going to tread lightly here because he is a player I adore watching and respect greatly.

That said, he has a total 2 B&F's in a team that hasn't exactly been replete with superstar players. I know the usual defense is that Roos likes to reward players playing to capacity rather than the overall best players, but it still tells a tale.

Our B&F is very harsh on Goodes as in reality he has probably been our best player every year since 03, however we reward defensive efforts, and inside mids very well in the voting.

Even if the stuff about the B&F is to be believed (and I feel it's greatly exaggerated by Swans fans), the Coaches Votes are voted on by both sets of coaches and are as good an indicator as any.

In any case, probably the wrong thread for this discussion, so I'm bowing out. Congrats to the great man, and I hope to see many more BOGs from him against Collingwood (in losing sides, as usual ;))

In 2008, Goodes finished fourth in the Brownlow and wasn't in the top 10 in our B&F.

well done to him, champion player who has played awesome football for a very long time. Utterly destroyed us earlier in the year to notch up the only away win at subi (so far) this year.

'Who will we put on goodes' was a constant refrain prior to any of the big Swan/Eagles clashes in '05, '06. Still remember him storming out of the centre and goaling in the first 10 seconds of the last quarter in the 2006 GF and thinking we were fuggered.

Part of me hopes there is a chance for him to play in another Eagles/Swans final before he retires- and..part of me really doesn't ;)

Hopefully we can see it in three weeks.

Adam Goodes is an absolute champion. I remember when Buddy first started playing and I hoped he would become the next Goodes. Well done on 300!:thumbsu::thumbsu:

It is heart-breaking for me that not only won't I be able to be at his 300th but I won't be able to watch the game at all (I'll be on a plane going overseas at the time). That I'll miss one of the biggest occassions for the Swans in a long time (one of our best 2 players of all time achieving such a monumental thing) and possibly the Swans going back to a Prelim is shattering for me.

Legend of the game, and a decent, likeable human being as well.

If somebody had to break Roo's record as quickest to 300, I'm glad it was him.

:thumbsu:

Hear hear. a class act who is brilliant to watch. my favourite non-Adelaide player by a country mile and still going strong. Great human, awesome player and a brilliant athlete all in one package. well done Goodesy...:thumbsu:

elvis, you need to change your sig, the Neeld has bolted...

Sorry we couldn't win it for him, but he doesn't need one win to know how much we love him. His best is the number 1 or 2 in the comp. Unbelievable.
