Guessing that was Woodcock judging by the body language and the four-word responses.
Wasn’t because he was asking difficult questions, because Simpson was quite happy to answer the same questions in much more detail when they were coming from others in the room.
Looked pretty unprofessional tbh. I get that the West is a shitrag but he’s there asking questions and it’s your job to give answers.

Hardly call attending post match press conferences like all the other head coaches fronting up, probably more doing his job.

Couldn’t help but laugh when Simmo said getting consistent intent in games from senior players had been an issue for 5-6 weeks.

For me, it's concerning at just how deep the rot is set in now.
It's gone on since the bye in 2021, almost 2 full seasons and a half it's continued by now.
Senior players coming back? No impact.
Our captain returning to inspire everyone? Means nothing.
Milestone game? Who cares, lets just get flogged.
ANZAC round tribute match? Cool, roll over and lose by 100pts.
Starting a game with our fully fledge midfield in the CBD's? Get blown off the park completely and end up being 9 goals to zip at quarter time.
Whoever that reporter is, he is asking the correct questions. "You had your senior players starting in the middle, they've been back and playing for a while now... why did you get blown off the park and be uncompetitive? This is Carltons team missing their captain, 2nd best mid and other key forward mind you.
At what point does Simpson run out of levers/excuses to use? Injuries. Synergy. No leaders. Ok we have leaders now but they aren't fit. Ok they are fit but we didn't show intent. Ok the intent was there but our skills let us down. Ok we've lost the intent again. Whoops a senior player is injured again.
It's one thing after another. Footy is a pretty uncomplicated sport. You get the ball out of the bounce and you kick it forward.
From my POV, i've said this enough, it really looks like he's lost the players. Doesn't matter who we bring in, what senior players come back, what new draftees we add, how much synergy we apparently get, what new game plan he apparently rolls out.... his message hasn't been getting accross since mid 2021 and it's blatantly obvious.
Harsh to say, but he's a cancer on this club at the moment. I'll firstly add the disclaimer that he's not alone, there's multiple cancers, but he's a big one. You look at other underperforming club when their coach gets sacked or quits... instantly they fly the flag and show up to play. We need that fresh face/voice to the players. It's not Simpson. Really wish he'd negotiate a reduced payout and just walk away.

There's been much talk about Simpson haters, but I don't hate Simmo and doubt anyone here does. FWIW I reckon he's our second best coach after Malthouse. But no one can deny that through some combination of bad luck and bad management, he's presided over a historic trainwreck that's made us the laughing stock of the league. Ten years is a decent innings for a coach at the best of times -- that's all Malthouse and Woosha had -- and it's clearly time to move on.
Put Simmo, Shuey, and Nic in a golf buggy and drive a lap of Optus after round 24 while Wind Beneath My Wings or some shit plays. Then let's draw a line under this era and move on with a new coach, a hungry young side, and some actual hope.

Nobody hates Simmo. He's a premiership coach FFS. Responsible for the best year as a WCE supporter ever.
However, just like Worsfold, when he lost the players in 2013 and all those unwanted records started to fall (laughable looking back because those records were nothing compared to what we've endured in 2021-2023) he created angst among supporters and needed to be nudged out the door.
I'm as frustrtated with Simpson as i am with Shuey, Naitanui, Hurn, Gaff, Darling, McGovern etc. Many have outstayed their welcome and need to move on to get the club back on track. Same with Cox. Same with Embley. There's a time where long time figures at the club need to leave for the good of the club.
Unfortunately for us, there's quite a few that need to go at the moment, yet nobody wants to leave and it's dragging out and frustrating everyone.
