Rumour Adelaide Crows camp

Honestly Adelaide may aswell open it right up and say exactly what happened- cop your whack now or keep getting it every 2 years ffs when someone else leaks. Majority that were running the ship are gone now anyway?
Should have done it more or less at the start. They probably thought if they spun it long enough people would move to the next scandal but it keeps coming back.

I will never not find playing the Richmond song on a loop to the Crows players hilarious.

Just when you think this has gone away it comes back, I tend to try and move on from events that have had a negative impact on my life, I don't bring them back up, just let them go and live my life.

Adelaide footballers should do the same.

The club will never really progress while Mark Ricciuto holds such power there. His Club Legend status makes it very difficult for many to question him or challenge him. He has a morning radio show which he has used more than once as a soapbox/attack method to defend club issues on his watch. Has surrounded himself with mates over the years (a number who are now gone) to row with the tide he decides is applicable.
The members have virtually no real say in board appointments (the numbers they have a say in will always form a minority) so he can essentially stay there as long as he wishes and play a major role in dictating the club position on anything. It's not healthy.

Now we have have the AFL issuing an apology for things that Betts and the indigenous players were subjected to. These matters were previously investigated by the AFL and found there was nothing remotely bad occurring. So, either their previous investigation was negligent and that poor or there's new information coming out.
Took the approach they take towards umpiring decisions.

“We’ve investigated the decisions made by our representatives and found that we have done nothing wrong”

Worthwhile reminder of the collective (pardon the pun) delusion that football clubs are run like successful businesses. They are not, they are mostly run by dumb bogans.

If something happens, get it out, get it all out, apologise and move on - is stuff they teach in PR101.

“I crawled through the dirt while the camp dudes held the rope and yelled abuse at me. At one point I thought I was getting close to the knife but they dragged me back 30 metres over the gravel and mud. When I got close again, they instructed two of my biggest teammates to jump on me and push me to the ground and not let me move, while the camp dudes continued to yell abuse at me”.
If that is not going to make you a better player I dont know what is

Yeah agree.

As I said, physical tests and challenges that stretch you, and put you out of your comfort zone are fine, IMO. It's directly related to your day job. The context is there.

It's the other psychological stuff that they played with that sounds like the problem.

I mean, they'd do tackling drills and match simulation where they need to hit each other hard and compete physically. Betts would have competed against friends and probably relatives in actually games, where they physically challenge each other and hit each other hard.

The physical stuff on these camps doesn't freak me out anywhere near as much it seems to have others.
Agree on this. I’ve read the book and Eddie himself says that weird boot camp challenges are part of the norm for footballers. The bizarre psyche stuff is the bigger issue.

Why don't crows investigate it and release an unredacted report of what happened.

Because the fact is if details of what happens gets leaked out it's going to be a big news.

Crows are ****ing stupid. So instead of crows releasing the bomb you are allowing multiple bombs to be thrown.

Questions that remain unanswered and if revealed will make news
1) were there any additional activies
2) what specific racist remark was said
3) how many players were distraught

The crows were a divided team in the week leading up to the grand final and were never gonna win it. Tex made the sure all the players didn't sit with Lever at the airport, telling them he's not one of us. This really threw a lot of the players and a lot of loyalties were questioned.
The final address from Tex to the players in the huddle was full of aggression. Pointing, gesticulating and shouting. I saw it on the day. Haven’t seen it since but it makes sense now.

It looked like laying down the law. Don’t **** up or something. Meanwhile, Richmond are having a laugh at the power stance. The two mindsets to that game couldn’t be more different.

Where were Adelaide's medical staff while all this was going on? Sidelined? Were they consulted? Did they protest? And, if they did, why were they not listened to? Absolute shame on the administration if Adelaide 's medical staff objected to all of this and they were ignored. Their (the administration) resume's should be stamped, "Never to work in the industry again."

everyone involved at the club (apart from obviously a fair few of the players that were subject to the treatment of this camp) when the camp fiasco occured have been sacked or moved on..

all except Roo.

the AFL needs to step in and piss Roo off out of the club too..

and all those that were involved that are now at other clubs should be sacked and told to never again apply for employment with the AFL.. pyke, burton, hass, chapman, fagan, roo.. gone. see ya, fk off, dont ever come back.

'Bring It On' had a Spirit Stick. Native Americans had/have talking sticks. So too Maoris, as well as tribes in Africa. Maybe they defecated on them all.

I doubt that a talking stick was the only thing they used.
"He also spoke to his Aboriginal elders about some of the co-opted rituals, and the use of sacred and culturally sensitive words that were used at the camp."
I have a sneaking suspicion they may have co-opted some men's business. 1. Because (based on the excerpt) Betts is coy about it and 2. Because if you're coming up with a bunch of macho manly men exercises for your stupid camp, you're going to be interested in rites exclusively for men.

Haven't caught up on the whole thread. Does Pyke's name get mentioned as being accountable for the crap at Adelaide like the camp and the highly revered and successful "Power Stance"?

He says it was Collective Minds who came up with it.

As soon as I saw the wry grin on Hardwick's face as they took the power stance, I knew Richmond had it won.
His first thought would have been - "I wish I was playing today !!!"
