Adelaide's decline

I understand we are the laughing stock of the competition right now and it really is 100% valid with our recent form. The club is 100% getting what it deserves right now and tbh a majority of our supporters have to suck it up right now including myself. We have only finished bottom four once in the last 20 years so we hardly can be ones to complain and whinge about the situation. I also may add i in no way am defending the current leaders of the club because they really do not deserve to keep their jobs past this season. As a club we have came back from far worse and i have no doubt if the right decisions are made we will again (Massive If)

seriously, if there is a year to be sh*t, it's this year and next. everyone's in same boat with no crowds, less revenue. adelaide have got this right.
True, but it was hardly planned that way...

Nah

Most supporters are happy to re load

Its the AFL, the system in place encourages a turnover of teams as we are seeing at the moment, or the competition wouldnt survive

Difference between pick 1 and pick 2, isn't much really. Infact Pick 2 and 3 can be heaps better than pick 1. But winning a wooden spoon ain't cool, i certainly, don't want to win a spoon in return for pick 1 if given a choice for my club. That would remain throughout the history of the club. Lets preserve some dignity and pride shall we?

Too early on Rowell but in recent years one of the only 1s I'd definitely take and be happier for was Hodge, but a Judd constellation is hardly a bad thing.

1 is hugely overrated.

All that shows is people have taken the wrong player at pick 1 and not that pick 1 is worse.... don't forget they can take any player they want....
Feel like alot of the club's go the safe pick at 1 and not outside the box.

The pressure on being number 1 and being instantly touted as a saviour wouldn't help.... and you just know that kid will be put in ever brighter lights in Adelaide.

It's a recipe for disaster.

Having pick 2 or 3 would be immensely less pressure.

Sometimes, the Rowell types, come in and look great, kids in man bodies, and they contribute day 1.

Feel for the Crows being in uncharted territory. Was interesting as an Eagle to experience 2001 & 2008 when we were crap and spoon worthy. Ironically, the 2010 spoon stung because I didn't feel we were really all that bad and just were unlucky enough to hiccup and succumb to a 4-18 record. The 2001 Dockers and 2008 Demons were just that much worse than any team in 2010 save Hardwick's first several youthful rounds.

The worst Adelaide I've ever known is patches of 2011. Their only wins that year:
Rnd 1 Hawthorn (were impressive)
Sydney (close thriller, back when Sydney was their bitch in the AFL's most boring h2h)
St Kilda (when they were out-of-sorts in the early season)
2 x Gold Coast (first season)
Brisbane (sucked)
Port (sucked)

I remember them also starting 6-2 in 1996 then going 2-12 (an 8pt win at home and a big win at home against Fitzroy). Their only away win that year was against Fitzroy in Rnd 2! Amazing they won the flag the following year in hindsight.

Well.................I'd say 119 will be remembered far more than some wooden spoon..........

I don't think Essendon are that far away from the top personally.
Add another gun midfielder in there and could be hard to beat.
They just need some grunt in there, someone like Wines would be a good fit for them to complement the likes of Shiel, Parish, McGrath and Smith. They also need a fit, functioning forward line. Fantasia, Daniher, Stringer and Tippa is almost as talented as it gets. Unfortunately, the former two can't stay fit. Stringer's been out for a month too.

I don't think they have a bad list at all in terms of talent, it's just too injury prone.

Wooden spoon is the opposite of winning a flag, it's not the same as 119. In theory wooden spoons should cancel flags, as it means you are the worst in the league and Adeaide are the worst in this league by a long long way. However for whatever it's worth as far as 119 is concerned, it's not a record that we want as a club, your supporters saying they don't care about winning the spoon means you have no self respect to begin in the first place, a wooden spoon is acceptable to you? look at the history of number 1 draft picks, it's severely overrated.

Keep this in mind. In the AFL era, in a 30 year span from 1991-2020, of those 30 years, the crows have finished bottom 4 twice. In 1999 and 2011.

Theres Probably off field issues at play....

.................

when Tex Walker approached the coach to have Jake Lever dropped for the GF because he was moving the next year

you just go yikes , its so professional , there is player movement for all sorts of reasons , thats school yard stuff
and Lever was their best kick for inside 50 targets

and I'm sure its tip of the ice berg stuff and when they didn't get success in 2017
things started turning toxic and there goes any hope of playing good footy

Is that true on Lever?
