Looks like I've made the cut.

My first goal will be to beat out beez for rookie honours :p

Then I'll be coming after the more seasoned pros.

Not really that confident. I'll just have to try glean some knowledge from Dagless he seems to know it all.

I talk big....

Talk being the KEY word in that sentence...

My advice is to just be modest, speak a little but always be gracious.

No player is better than any other, it is not about winning but mutual admiration.

Good luck to my fellow players, may you all do well (Especially Riggy)

Thanks for the advice. It does seem like the American Football board is slightly classier than other areas of the forum. I will try to be a gentlemen.

I'm no stranger to having a punt but it's all been on Aussie Rules. I'm sure my gut instincts will serve me well but the size of the field is a little intimidating for a rookie.

People often do well their rookie season. Beginners Luck. Just worry about your own game and you'll be right.

Like with most tipping endeavors, often the more you know the sport, the harder it becomes to tip well, as one starts to look for a ton of varying statistics and over-analyzing who's in and who's out etc.

Perhaps GG will be trying to predict the opposite of what he usually does and gun it this season. You never know.

GG will have a couple of brilliant weeks somewhere then it all turns to mud in a blink of an eye.. however, if just an element of good fortune were to be on his side from the get go, then you just never know with GG.. he is a slow starter which certainly hasn't helped but those 'skyrocket weeks' he can definately light up the AE sky with colour and look the genius like anyone of us can when we dare take a roughie with a little more higher CR than most. Reigning CR champ, AC83, is the classic example, stuck his neck out from Week 1 with his beloved Niners who needed some miraculous plays to pull off a mighty victory on the road. 13CR went a long way with many taking the Packers, that's about a 20 point head start.

Slow starter indeed. In the same way, consider my 23 years playing AE as a slow start then, and this year to finally have a brilliant year

:rainbow: there's a pot of gold just over there waiting for me :(
Slow 23 years?
Didn't you lose Super Bowl I? (or was it II?)

SBI i think, was so long ago now. Haunts me to this day.
At least you didn't lose in tiebreakers.
That would be devastating.

So going against the flow can be a good thing?

I guess that's the same in every tipping comp. The less you deviate the less chance of a gain, you're just limiting losses.
very well observed/written there.
im always going for broke, and hence fall behind because results are more balanced than always upsets or always favorites.
otherwise heaven help, id win in a landslide.
this year not gonna be so stubborn and play it properly.

NFL has sooooo many upsets - early on I just pick who I think is going to win and just ignore what everyone else is doing.

....and here I thought you were just ignoring everyone. :p
I would be too if I didn't want to be bashed up by Chism's kids every second week.

Is his daughter bigger than you yet? ;)

So... I guess not?

Woodson/JD any indications for if we'll have the site ready for testing during preseason then? Give the noobs a chance to get used to it etc :)

Much of reason why nothing has been verified as yet is that the flow of rookies (with emails) for them to receive their generic password within the same batch. I've already given JD a heads up of what numbers to expect (80) and who I've 'given a questionable listing' to as opposed to not returning confirmation. JeffDunne is still prepping the site up in readiness. Will give JD a call up tomorrow from 'The House Of Chism' where wrestling toddlers is a given. :p

In the meantime:

Looking to get the signatures of the AE online inaugural champ, the reigning DropZone champ and a few others who know they truly belong, this week.

Last year I was mid table half way through the season and ended up finishing 2nd overall. I came up with a little strategy that I liked to call No ****s Friday. I would attribute 16CR to the team I thought would win on TNF each week and it helped me immensely, just through dumb luck I guess. Once you have that 16CR out of the way its all down hill I found.

Don't be a conformist but changing your strategy is a good idea if it hasn't worked in the past I guess.

Same with many team sports. The favourites are usually under the odds, it's not that they won't win it's just they get more than their fair share of backing which means the bookie odds will make them look a better chance than they really are.

Dumb luck

It was a massacre for TNF at the start of the season - opted to avoid it.

For new tippers here's my advice
Just have fun, tip who you want to tip and enjoy yourself. You'll come up with a few strategies, cause a few upsets and love the game even more.

I was around 60 for most of the season and I ended up making the ND quarterfinals, knocked 1st and 2nd out of ND and made it into HRS all due to tipping the Rams.

Dumb luck.

I won 2010 and Super Bowl III by not being a homer. I tipped against the 12-2 Falcons in week 16 which was the pivotal tip for me getting by Marklar.

Juggalo Balla doesnt sound like a rookie tho. He sounds like someone who has years if exoerience in tiping per se and imo could be like the "next ac83" a bit of a pro at it and wins a bunch of comps.
ahhhhhhhhhhh, ac83 was a homer pure and simple. If Green Bay wins in week 1 and New England in week 15, I guarantee that TS wins it in his rookie year.
