I think I've figured out the Holding the Ball thing...

As Midfield Man suggested on here, it does work kinda like how he suggested in the table below:-
HAS POSSESSION B4 TACKLE______PAID HOLDING THE BALL
---------------------------------------------------------
less than 0.2sec__________________________1/20
0.2 - 0.5 sec_____________________________1/10
0.5-1sec_________________________________1/5
1-2sec___________________________________1/3
2-3sec___________________________________3/4
3+__________________________________All the time
After a bounce/during a bounce__________All the time

except.....there's one major flaw...the timing goes from the game time (the time displayed in the quarter....20mins for each quarter), not the real time (in real life, 5mins for each quarter, or whatever you choose your quarter lengths to be).
So what happens is the game timer runs quicker in shorter quarters, so you can have the ball for 0.5secs real time, which translates to 2secs game time (on 5 minute quarters)....it'll most likely be paid as holding the ball...

Which pretty much means to get a good umpire, you have to play 20minute quarters....
Otherwise....just get the ball moving!!!!

I think this is how it works, just going on how the umpiring seems to be more fair with 20min quarters than 5 minute quarters....

Excuse my ignorance, but HOW THE **** did you get the game?

Waah :(

One of the interesting things about player ratings that I have failed to mention so far is what happens when they are injured. The affect of the injury is shown on their overall ranking. Say you have a player ranked 80 in the game and he does a hamstring. His rating will drop to about 30 and will be displayed as such in the player stats category in game. This will give you a great indication of the effect he could have on the game if put back on the field in the FP or something due to other injuries to your players. The effect is also shown in the training menus etc so that you have an idea of where the player is at in his recovery.

That is an awesome idea, happy to hear it!

whys mcleod so high ?

i thought kerr and pavlich would of been higher then him...

and if you can, can you do me 2 favours

1. whos the highest rated richmond player ?
2. whats brendan lade rated ?

thanks

IMO Brett Deledio, Andrew Raines or Nathan Brown would be Richmond's highest ranked players. This is in any order it wouldn't matter.:)

i still reckon ratings is a cosmetic thing, the games not hard, had my rookie with 55 kicking accuarcy kick 11 goals 0 behinds thanks to me so not much of a point

Who do you work for?:D
Inside Football Magazine
What are your thoughts on AFL 2007?;)
It's a good game. A lot of the annoying things in 2006 have been squashed out, so it's much more fun.
Are you reviewing the game? and if so can you give me a link to the website were your review would be?
Yes, I'm reviewing it. As I work for a magazine, it will be in our next issue....not on a website....
We are also giving away copies of the game to some lucky readers....so be sure to buy the next edition of the magazine.

Do you think AFL 2007 is an improvement on AFL 2006:rolleyes:
Definately an improvement...Gotta love the stats!
Training adds a good management side to it....meanwhile the gameplay is a lot less structured, and is much more interesting.
Saying that there is still some (not as many) bugs, like the holding the ball thing I mentioned earlier....but you get used to it...
Overall....I like it...and will be playing it for a while.

what about the bomber players
Hird, Stanton,Lloyd, Lucas, Lovett and also wonder what Alywn Davey is that would be interesting ould be great if you could share that info with us cheers mate

Hird - 92
Stanton - 75
Lloyd - 82
Lucas - 81
Lovett - 77
A. Davey - 58 (speed is 89) - remember attributes were done before the season....so as a draftee he would've been ranked against the other draftees....which are generally less than players with some experience under their belts

Blackmamba, do the computer miss shots at goal? and do players take a run up when shooting for goal?

Yes the computer misses shots at goal...not all the time.....and hardly from close range....I think they got it right this time...
Players do walk in for their kick....you choose the shot (press square within the goal HUD)....then they get some momentum and kick it...

Great! :thumbsu:

On the hard difficulty, does the computer dominate the centre clearances like in '06 or has that been fixed?

Is the game very freeflowing at all? What is the best camera angle to use?

It can be free flowing....if you get it to space...however a turnover can make some good congested situations...
You'll notice a lot of smothers when its crowded....very hard to get a kick away....best to handball around til you're clear....
I'm using the Side view. The up-the-ground switch is great for free kicks and helps you a lot, as does the new zoomed in radar....still getting used to the player indicators around the screen though.

Great! :thumbsu:

Not really....hard to tell. I think centre clearances have been 50/50 for me though....but you can still punch it to the edge of the square if you win....that still doesn't mean you'll get possession though...

Is the game high scoring or is it a more congested slower scoring game, or can you still kick 50 goals in a game with the old get it from the ruckman and kick it to your forward routine from '06?

hi all i want to now is what is westyyyyyyyys nd johnos ovr and is strauchanie the superstar in cos from last nights proformance in the ej whitten game he would deserve a 100.
