Saints still have no Hayes, Steven, Montagna etc etc.

All depends on which midfield you prefer IMO. I rate Melbourne's higher but that's just me.

I know I spoke about not backing Melbourne earlier in the thread, but that was before Steven and Hayes were out.

Sam Fisher, Sam Gilbert also missing... if the Dees cant win this one, they wont win many this year.

Still a no bet game.

sorry bud, that had nothing to do with you - just tyring to be funny (not at your expense, it was re sportsbet) and failing
thanks lenny29 - have had issues with being bullied on other forums and am a little sensitive.

Anyone getting tempted by the Pies with all this talk of Freo being behind everyone else?

No Clark/ Dawes has completely turned me off the Dees.

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about Schulz's availability for round 1? I know he injured his ankle vs the bombers and isn't meant to be playing in this round of praccy matches, but will he be back for round 1? If so Port are just about the bet of the round for me. Given who the Blues will be missing (and those that will be seriously underdone) plus the fact that the Power's brand of footy seems to translate well to Etihad, I'm not sure how the Blues are favourite here. But I won't pull the trigger until I know ore about Schulz

By bullied ...do you mean you saying stupid things and having them pointed out to you?

Unnecessary use of the word 'you'. Just thought I'd point it out.

;)

(oh god, I better keep track of my vocabulary/punctuation from here on!) :D

lol

Aaah never mind drinking and posting lead to silly posts  (Better than drinking and punting I guess)

I have $500 on Melbourne @ $2.20. I took that a month ago because I figured at best Melbourne would be $1.90 come bounce down.

Options:
1) Let the bet ride
2) Throw $400 worth on Saints @ $2.50 on promotional "money back" markets to guarantee either a $100 or $200 profit at worst
3) Throw $500 on Saints at $2 lines across different agencies like Topsport, Betstar, Pinnacle so at worst I break even, or win $100 or $1100.

If you are worried about the bet, then taking the Saints at the line (+12.5) would mean that a small Melbourne win (12 points or less) would lead to both bets getting up.;)

Personally it was always a no bet game for me.

Good luck.:thumbsu:

Two questions which will lead you to your answer:

1 - What is your bankroll (or, more importantly, what % of your bankroll is $500)
2 - What do you assess the odds to be?

Guys can we not attack each other and bully because it leads to a pack mentality with people ganging up and making others feel uncomfortable.

Mocking people who make losing bets is never on and making a fool of someone because they may like a bet in which you don't will not be tolerated either. Myself and balmainforever have been very lenient with everyone and usually let you guys go a bit with the usual banter but it is a very fine line. Stupid comments like "insertposter.jpeg" etc etc are crap and not needed.

Everyone responds differently to be singled out and what you may consider only a joke and taking the piss for fun can upset others who are on the receiving end of it.

In other words pull up a bit. :thumbsu:

Understood, but surely there's an onus on not clogging up threads with pages of inane punting "tips" and questions that are answered two posts above?

Again, a fine line and one I'm probably guilty of crossing anyway but it can't all be one way

It never is all one way Lenny and we need everyone to just relax a bit and not be so critical of others. The last thing we want to do is card blokes and boot posters from the board but if the actions of a few posters are affecting the experiences that the rest are having something needs to be done. This board does not belong to us or any Mod it belongs to the posters that post in it everyday and contribute making it what it is today.

Why is it so much harder to ignore someone than it is to post and say " Your an idiot FFS " or " Go and have a look properly with a stupid .jpeg " ????? This board is NOT Bay 13 where this tone is encouraged and built on.

We are just here to make sure things run smoothly according to a set of rules that the creators of BF have implemented and perform the behind the scenes work that keeps it going.

I am all over port at 2.35 also.. a more hardened cohesive midfield in my opinion... even if Schulz isn't in they have THE HOFF and an improved Butcher down there.... just dont rate Carlton at all really.. we will see:)

SIX PLAYERS will undergo fitness tests this week ahead of Port Adelaide's opening AFL game against Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Sunday night.

Ken Hinkley confirmed key defenders Jackson Trengove and Alipate Carlile, and forwards Jay Schulz and Robbie Gray would be available for Round 1, meaning the squeeze for spots tightens.

$2.35 is good odds for Port and this game is a genuine 50/50. I am not confident at all!

No Judd or Carrazzo. Gibbs carrying an injury. Yarran may be carrying an injury as well.

From what I have been reading on the Carlton board - Hendo, Walker and Kreuzer have issues as well. A bit of cloak and dagger stuff going on about who is and isnt available for R1.

Schulz will be there. He would have played on the weekend if we needed him.

He played with the same injury for the last 2 months of 2013.

Be careful our record at Etihad is shit apart from a narrow win over the Saints last year. Having said that we should win.

I reckon Melbourne should be $1.70. $500 is 5% of my bankroll.
