I'm perfectly calm. The more I see the media commentariat pump the tigers up, Hardwick and Gale talk up their chances.... All the while the GFC is as quiet as a mouse gives me confidence. It's hard to explain but it seems we're focused on the game, not the media tit for tat.
Well, what I saw this morning was this. Scott on the Sunday footy show, and all bar one tip the Cats. Panellists saying your toughness and experiene the difference. Selwood is a lock, you are deserved favourites. No one is underestimating you, but if you want to play the us against the world stuff, you go right ahead.

Noone rates the team that came 2nd on the ladder it seems.
Geelong have been in amazing form lately and won their final 3 games (tigers, pies and gws) after being written off as top 4 hopefuls by many.
The cats matchup extremely well on Richmond and I am quietly confident we will get the job done with ease.
All bar one tipped the Cats on the Footy show this morning. But yeah, no one rates you:rolleyes:

Beat them a month ago without our captain and best forward too.

Don't know why people think we'll get smashed
You won't get smashed but last result surely has something to do with the dimensions of KP

Yet the Ch7 nuffies couldn't be more bullish. Carey said tigers are certainties. Clueless muppet he is.
Let's move on from the media, as is the case every year, I'll be livid if we lost to Richmond. This time around we have the extra finals experience to, need to make it count.

Have a look through all the bigfooty threads, majority seem to be tipping the tigers. I find it a little strange considering the recent history of the two teams.
I don't watch those shithouse shows. I would rather waste my freetime on here speaking with people who aren't media personalities.

Geelong should be too good. They don't have the massive advantage of Skilled Stadium this time around but the 'G' is no huge bonus for the Tigers in this contest and Geelong will have added Dangerfield, Duncan and Hawkins.

Does the loser get to play the winner of 6 v 7 at home the following week?
Loser will play Essendon or Sydney in Melbourne.

The winner getting a preliminary final in Melbourne is huge. They'll get an interstate opponent (Adelaide, GWS, Port or West Coast) and that opponent will have played an extra game by the time they get to the preliminary final.

The other side of the draw isn't great, playing more than likely Sydney then an interstate preliminary final against Adelaide or GWS.

Richmond can certainly win this game. Winning streaks don't last forever. If Richmond give Geelong a head start there will be no come from behind win. Geelong has the marking power around the ground and up forward which should see it get the win.

Forecast for rain I think, which makes things even more interesting. As you say, Geelong has a lot of good tall marking options all over the ground, but that strength will be diminished somewhat if the skies open up. I'm particularly worried about Geelong's defensive half if it is wet - we tend to play a pretty tall backline and rely a lot on intercept marking, but that's hard to do with a slippery ball and Richmond have a lot of good, classy small forwards that could run amok if the ball hits the deck in their forward 50 often enough.

We didn't have Selwood or Hawkins so surely they could beat us despite one side of the ground being thinner?

Don't think the size of the ground helped Taylor towel Rance.

Going by the predictions in this thread you'd say tigers by 5 goals.

I just hope geelong can keep it close and not get blown out
Yeah all one of those people that tipped us to smash you, along with almost all neutrals/tigers supporters/cats supporters sitting between 'tigers in a close one' or 'cats in a close one but the tigers are a chance'. Plus the two or three Geelong supporters that seem to have confused 2017 Richmond for 2007 Richmond. We're definitely considered a lock on BF :drunk:

I have a small feeling that Richmond may finally win a close game this year for the first time this season, and Geelong might finally lose a close game for the first time this season.
Whoever wins will probably make the GF, as they will likely play GWS who aren't terrific at the MCG.

Yes I agree. Give them a head start and it's curtains. If the score line is something like 38-7 at quarter time then they can say goodnight.

Richmond will have to be mindful of Geelongs clearance ability and dynamic forward line. By the same token, Richmond are pretty lively up forward and their midfield is pretty serious.

I am having a Richmond feeling about this, but i hope it's a cracker nonetheless. I think the winner of this one is really well placed to make a GF, also with an interstate competitor.
