Because the commentary team are full of morons. It was an infringement in the goal square. The same umpire called one later in the game when Zac Bailey gave away a free kick for pushing a player to the ground.

Channel 7 is so inept they showed the footage from the wrong end of the ground when reviewing it.

I did wonder this - did they mean “an infringement took place in the goal square”, e.g., a hit off the ball? And it is only being misunderstood as a 6-6-6 infringement…? This would make sense.

And yes, channel 7 commentary team, completely oblivious to the fact they were watching vision from the wrong end… classic.

Enjoying the comments about what a sweet deal Neale got - got 3 free kicks, gave away 4. Armchair ride! All of his 3 were in the second quarter, too - was scragged the entire game.

Nah, why create a situation that advantages the team under pressure.

If the ball is dump kicked out of team A's D50 under pressure instead of a deliberate pass to a team mate, why should a player from team A, coming in from the side that had no play on the ball, be given time to move back, slow up the play and allow his defence additional seconds to reset.
Because seeing it turn into 50m and guaranteed goal is putrid.

How did neale get so many umpire eyes on him last night? Plenty of star players are scragged constantly and are mostly ignored by the men in white, did fages make a phone call or something? A few calls against windhager were soft as
His first holding free was paid by the substitute umpire I believe.

I'd say he had a birds eye view of what was happening up until that point without the distraction of having to worry about officiating play by play, and once brought on paid it at first opportunity.

That’s a 3 time premiership Brisbane Lion- that’s right, 3 premierships-
one player. As opposed to the whole club and one premiership.
Ouch
*2 clubs

Few things to like about the saints last night. Liam Henry being one of them. Everytime he touched the ball it seemed to hurt. Marshall competes as hard as any ruck.

Good to see zac Jones back out there. Played a blinder for brisbane last night.

Tom Campbell coming in really let Marshall use his ability around the ground a lot better.

Bloke is probably leading in our Best and Fairest at this stage.

I was gobsmacked at how Marshall could cover the ground. Watching live at the ground makes you realise how much he covers. How often is he seen in the backline providing cover then a min later he is up the wing on his own with time on his hands. Crazy tank.

Imagine letting a team who only kicks an average of 71 points kick over 100, Grim.

I remember being an irrelevant club and dining out on cringy “silver linings” like this.

Now that was grim.

Own goal, if you’re counting Fitzroy flags as well then we have 11. Never change saints fans.

Reaching more than the Blues flog earlier and he was only going back to when Carlton were relevant.

I'm devastated to have missed them.

Umpires aside, Brisbane were given too much of a start in the first quarter. That's on us.

Zorko cut us up by foot all night. His field kicking is absolutely elite.

I saw some encouraging signs from us though. Enjoyed watching us last night after quarter time more than I have in our last few wins.

Ross had no choice though. Stick with your usual style and the Lions win in a landslide. Sadly for you guys normal programming will resume next week

You know what realky is Grim, Brisbane has been handed every opportunity to be relevant in Queensland and you continue to suck at getting decent crowds when opposed to NRL, even that tacky song after each goal doesn't help whats next? Queensland standard hot girls attempting to be cheerleaders.

27k last night, with our others this year being 27, 30, 30, 33, and 34k

Not even 18k last Saturday when the Saints were the standalone game… in fact, couldn’t crack 20k in either game against the interstate clubs.

Interesting…

Dude, that's not something to be proud of considering all the help the AFL has handed you. really sad you think that's praise worthy.

What do the crowd figures matter? Does it have anything to do with you or I? Should I feel ashamed ours aren’t higher? If so, why?

Not at all bragging - just stating objective facts. Our median crowd is around the 30k mark. The saints can’t crack 20k when playing interstate sides - glass houses and all that.

Bragging about crowd numbers is like bragging about premierships won in the 20th century.

My team is sh$t, we lost, we are horrible to watch, completely irrelevant and the least successful club with any sort of history. Jeez what can I go with….i know - um um your crowds aren’t big enough. Quit while you are along way behind mate, ya making a fool of yourself.
