What are we getting in tonight’s patch? And can anyone on steam stream it when it comes out so I know cheers
A very leaky Brisbane defence, oh wait sorry wrong thread :shoutyoldman:

No not at all. AFL 98 was very different to AFL 99. Definitely didn’t have fights. Did have great off the ball movement. And you could change the sizes of all the players. So literally you could have players the size of ants running down massive giants.

F*** it was great. Had Shane Crawford on the cover.

Yeah I had 98 on PC and 99 on PS1. They were very similar, neither had fights.

99 on PC was the one with fights, but I never played it so can't comment on the differences.

Your defenders don’t spoil too?

Only one player does constantly and the rest just crumble under pressure :$

BigAntStudios, it’s game on tonight between our clubs - may the best team win 🥊

You can only put a custom player in a team when you make an editable copy, see if that allows attribute editing

I tried that last night but no mas. Will have another go but I don't hold hope. That would be acceptable but it was much easier in Evo where you could edit attributes but if you want to edit cosmetics you'd have to duplicate.

Hopefully Ross gets a good result tonight and relieves some stress.

And I have absolutely no vested interest in said result at all.

I understand that's why EA pulled out, but my question is more so why can't these other companies copy what EA do? Is it a resourcing problem?
Games cost millions to make these days. AFL is a small market internationally with little growth opportunity - it’s a massive investment for companies to take on and there simply isn’t enough big Aussie devs with financial backing to do it.
Couple that with the complexity of the sport, it’s not left to right like others and is a lot more 360 orientated with so much happening around the field. No company will ever make the perfect AFL game, and Aussies tend to love to crap on about a game a lot more when it fails because of our cheeky nature. AFL needs one publisher to stick with it, and build on it like FIFA has had for decades. The constant churn of devs means we get a new product every few years that gets drilled by fans and the media to the point where the devs run out of steam quickly and get sick of trying to please the unpleasable.

This is it. Could you imagine the difference in potential customer numbers between Madden and an AFL game? If they charged $50 they would never be able to possibly build such a complex game whatsoever. Just not economically viable when our user base is so small. I don't really care because I spend $100 on things far more destructive or useless but I also see it as an investment in a continued franchise. If they can build it bit by bit year on year it will get to a good point but if we keep flip flopping new dev teams every time we won't get anywhere.

That being said, as a business operator myself (in the marketing space too), my client base would be horrified if I communicated and marketed my product in the same way BA has rolled this out. They leave a lot to be desired in that regard. I hope they make enough money to continue this game year on year and then invest money in a CMO/PR team that actually has a ****ing clue what they are doing.

A shit launch with great communication is at least forgiveable.

Xbox owner so I’m not affected by the launch debacle of the past two days but I’m very surprised by the acceptance of “…over the next week…” line. Totally unacceptable but I’ll just sit back with my popcorn and watch…! Nothing to see here!
