Has there been any confirmation of what actually happened?
I've heard removing Pro MicroGambling Team mode broke the game.
I've heard a day 1 patch was corrupt and apparently there's no backup of the unlatched game or the patch itself.
I've heard it was the wrong version of the base game sent out.
I've heard (frome a reliable source) that Anonymous hacked Big Ant when they saw Kane Cornes listed as a Legend.

It'd be nice to have some idea of what happened. But maybe it's a toss up between looking like liars and looking incompetent.

I’m sorry, but can you seriously not move players around from one team to another yet? No option in Club manager to add players to AFL teams… so I can’t use custom players or teams in any modes besides play now yet? Wtf.

I must say, observing this thread over the past few days has been super entertaining

People taking the absolute Mickey out of the game and it’s issues, torching the developers whilst a small (yet loud) % of people running to the defense of BigAnt. It’s a fierce, intense entertaining battle - absolutely loving it at the moment - keep it ip guys! (Both sides Lol)

Thanks Basil. I just want to give you a bit of an insight into the AFL23 thread team. We’re a bunch of unique individuals – haters, neckbeards, nerds, kids in our parents basement and BigAntStudios providing sporadic patch updates lacking detail.

We’re gonna engage with our minds and our hearts. We’re gonna exchange ideas, thoughts and even our energy. And to speak from your heart you need to have courage. You need to be honest and authentic. We’re not always gonna get it right. And sometimes, you’re not going to agree with us. But that’s okay, because just like you we care. Just like you, we’re passionate about the game. So if you want to come along for the ride, join us in this shit show of a thread, because we just love the footy.

To you or I maybe not.
There would be people out there (single parents, low income earners) that have gone without to put a smile on there kids face and they get a game that doesn't work on day 1.
I'm not upset at all- totally predictable. My moral compass just says you should get what you pay for.

Mate 100% spot on , I feel for the parents just trying to do the right thing by their kids.

Moral compass should be you get value for money , but typically the game industry misses the mark.

Thankfully theirs choice here for refunds and move on , for the invested people hopefully we all get the game we envisioned because theirs a decent base here for a brilliant game in hopefully a few weeks but probably closer to a few months.

Cricket24 hopefully doesn't launch in a rough state like afl and a few lessons are learnt from about transparency

Am I wrong in saying, Steam updates should be receiving more fixes/features than PS if it’s the same process for all steam patches?

I know the updates have been roughly the same so it can go through PS rapid patch system

Can we expect another patch today?
I think Ross mentioned something yesterday about "tomorrow's" patch focusing heavily on tackling. The one that came through at 5am today was meant to be yesterday's - so as far as can be gathered from the info we have, it seems like there are plans to release one today.

Any news on further patches coming this weekend??

Played this morning and managed to get a few tackles out which I don’t think I’d been able to do, also mainly kicked instead of handballing and the “switching” from one side to the other with kicks was rather fun and very life like…

I think you will find that a lot of what was directed at Ross on this forum has been pretty disrespectful, and while not defending, I am not surprised that he has been frustrated by this at times.
He has put himself on the line to make a product for people like us even though it likely won't make a profit. And he doesn't have to - he has sold his company and could ride off into the sunset if he wanted to.
The fact that a CEO has engaged directly with the most passionate fans is more a positive for me, and I am possibly more forgiving when the expression isn't absolutely perfect.

But here are the facts - Ross has built and published the best AFL and best Cricket games ever made. I don't think this would have happened without his personal intervention, and I genuinely appreciate what he has delivered.
That is what is most important to me, not a word slightly out of line on an unofficial forum that he doesn't even need to give oxygen to if he wants to make things easier for himself. And if a smaller studio uses consumers as testers at times to put more money into core production, so be it.

I can tell you categorically that I value the Big Ant posts more than anything else on here, and that is what actually makes me come back. I hope stupid comments don't stop that from happening.

How is this not written by either Ross himself, someone he works for or someone that has something to do with Ross in one form or another.

What camera angle is everyone playing on?

Tried end to end but the switch movement isn’t working for me when there’s a turnover.

Also, will we get patches over a weekend? Sony/steam wouldn’t approve them over weekends would they?
I really like end to end except for the switching. Being able to see downfield is fantastic and actually does highlight the strengths of the game watching AI lead and double lead relatively realistically (sometimes the spread is good too but sometimes your teammates are just magnetised to the ball in your hands, lol). But you're right that turnovers suck in that view.

I will probably stick to this camera while I learn the way the game plays and the players move, and then eventually find something else.
