like preferred position and secondary position or something like that. I know a lot of rucks who end up at Full forward and vice versa, so that would be great.

Yeah exactly that. I had Bobby Hill end up from FP to HB playing on Bruest and rightly got outplayed at every contest. Also had Howe end up rucking and never returning to his CHB spot then Darcy Cameron in the back pocket 🤣 it was a mess!

Ambrose Burnside , Nicho50 & Nunez all very valid responses to my question about game reviews. I definitely see all your points. For me personally, this game was one where the hype was huge prior to release and I was always going to get it upon release, I do see how it works both ways though. I also don’t see it as completely broken but am holding off for a few more patches to hopefully get it going again.
If Xbox released at the same time I would have purchased to as I did pre order but with all the bugs I would have refunded it and used the money on F123 next month or Cricket 24. I have seen more than a review can tell me now to decide it is a no for me as I would rather spend my limited time over next few months on F1 and Cricket 24 if its out on time. I understand a lot of other people will pump hours into AFL, as you said most hyped AFL game ever I think.

Personally I would have been more inclined to be patient if it was released at the start of the season and had issues that got patched up until now but you know if xbox comes out late June and Pro Team rolls around then to your into the back end of the season and for me it has missed the boat but I do understand there will be a lot of people that will play this game full on consistently.

Had a play last night after latest PC patch and tackling and pressure feel much more realistic. My poor PC is struggling a bit though. It feels like it is having to use more system resources than before. IS this true or is it just me?

I was adding some more logos last nigth for somebody else (aren't I nice...) and noticed that some of the logos had disappeared from the selection screen. I click on them and they are there, but I was wondering if that was another memory related problem.

I had been playing on a laptop sometimes but I've given that up now as it was whirring like buggery.

At the end of the day, I intend to buy the game again when XBOX is available and only use the PC version to create new teams, logos, stadiums, adboards and guernseys.

You could say I only bought the PC version out of desperation to get involved. Saying that I understand there is a plan for a standalone Academy which might help my PC keep pace.
Very very nice! Really appreciate it legend!

BigAntStudios Any chance we can get the umpires decisions and the interchange feed on opposite sides of the screen? You miss a fair few umpires calls if there's been lineup changes.

Maybe umpire calls above the scoreboard or something?

these patches have over-cooked marking.

impossible to stop the ai from marking around the ground.
“We need smarter AI” - solution: make them impossible to beat at marking.
I can’t understand why they haven’t just made spoiling equal to or more powerful than marking..?
Do they watch footy?
It’s so rare for a congested marking contest (in this games case, only 1 v 1s) to end in a mark (unless there is a power forward, contested mark beast, or a clear height mismatch)
Theres more marking infringement free kicks in a footy game than contested marks.

I can't even get through to Round 2 on my team management mode with it freezing so annoying but be patient is the thing.

I enjoy the game but what's keep my going is the custom builds I'm doing.

From what I've been reading, issues come and go and come back again, so reporting things that have been patched as still being present doesn't really surprise me.

Just now we're seeing coaches as umpires again, when that issue had been resolved.
That's reasonable. The coaches-as-umpires thing was patched and has returned... But to be fair, I can't think of another issue that has been reported as fixed which has returned in a later patch.
People are complaining about the marking... I actually think it's better (but harder) because it appears to account more for position... and take in the other variables (user timing, user choice, player skill rating etc.).

The game keeps improving with each patch. It may be different from one patch to another... and we will need to re-learn parts...
So I don't really care about the aesthetic coaches-as-umpires thing for now.... It's not like they're actually affecting the gameplay decisions. :)

I'm still marking on the last line of defence 99.9% of the time. The rest of the ground is hit and miss though.

I'm still getting the occasional AI performing my actions for me EG: I've run to where the ball is about to be contested.... and the AI automatically spoils or marks without me hitting the button.

Off topic, but it's been bugging me for a while now because it looks like someone I know. Who/what is your avatar?

Apologies if asked before.. custom teams, in what mode can you actually use them? Don’t want to put time and effort in if the team is going to be unusable

What difficulty is this? They did say they were going to up the difficulty so maybe that’s a way they have done it?

Unless this is happening on easy then it probably is an error

After reading this thread since the beginning. I think I can confidently say that a lot of people's patience with Big Ant has run out and all the goodwill from AFL Live 2011 is gone for a lot of people.

I think Ross has just got to take the L on the game from reviews and reception at the moment, apologize for the launch and explain what happened to cause it, move on from trying to defend the game when it's not at a state where it can realistically be defended to the general public who just see a broken game (Which it's been.) and just work with the team on fixing it to get it to a point where it can be redeemed from this bad reception. That's probably only way that things are gonna get better at this point IMO.

We're very much in a situation where no-one is happy with the game and frustrations have completely boiled over. It just makes you think we're further than ever from a good AFL game and that there is no light at the end of the tunnel even if I'm confident that things will be fixed and we'll have a good game in a month or two. It should never have gotten to this point.

Big Ant certainly have a passion for the sport, You can still see it in this game but something has clearly gone wrong here and whether it represents the game rightly or wrongly in the end, There's only so long someone can wait before reviewing the game. What's there is there and what is there is not up to scratch right now.

There were high expectations for this game and the landing wasn't stuck. You can't change what's happened, It's how it is. All you can change is the future and how this game gets fixed. You can't dwell upon it or complain about it, It is what it is. You want to prove them wrong? Get this game to where it needs to be and give us the AFL game we've been waiting for the longest time for. You do that and we'll be doing the work of selling this game for you at this point. That's how starved of a good AFL game we've been. We're that desperate at this point.
It's just not at the same standard as their older games like Rugby League Live 3/4 and Lacrosse 18. Compare the tackling mechanics in League Live 4 to AFL 23, and the collision system of Lacrosse 18 to almost no collision system in AFL 23. They're both far more advanced.

The release was poor but it’s being patched everyday so I feel like I can’t give it a fair shake until the patches are no longer a daily event. Every night there is a patch literally which has brought the game a long way by the looks of it but it’s still a ways off also. It’s an interesting one because at what point do you say this is the actual game.

Is it just me or… for every thing fixed in a patch, a new problem is created. I don’t know if this game is recoverable.
Welcome to the world of game development.

That's been one of my biggest disappointments, that the game hasn't built on and improved on their previous games, but been a step backwards on multiple fronts.

Haha.... it's me, from Ashes Cricket 2009.
I was on the dev team (began working at Transmission Games after they lost the AFL license unfortunately).
The art team asked if we wanted to be selectable custom heads in the game, and I said yes.

So if you know me, you also know that game's Skin Type #3, Custom Head #49. :)

Loved those cricket games. I don't think I had 09 though? Might have been 07?

Actually the last cricket game I played (apart from Big Bash Boom haha)

EDIT: Looked it up, it was 09 I had. Good work, it was a good game.

I've played 4 games on PS5, 2 of which locked me in the pause menu when pausing so I had to reset. I hope these fixes keep coming

At least it is improving and it's realistic for Norf. (Fun fact, I was at this game. XD)

I will never forget that. Top 10 TV moment haha I did the exact same myself in an under 18s elimination final (thankfully I intercepted the kick in though and goaled)

kills me

i just played a weird game against the Crows, but the prevailing feature was 18 contested marks between Tex and Fogarty.

Ruins the immersion and flow of the game.

They are not impossible to beat at marking at all, those that cannot spoil are quite simply (and no offence) shit.

Spoiling is simple, there are valid complaints here but this one is simply people being shit.
