STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

I think I've had maybe two htb against the opposition. Almost every friggin time I tackle someone the ball just magically happens to spill directly to another opposition player. Just feels straight up unfair tbh
 
Just played some simulated management mode. Drafts look nice! A bit of feedback:

Menus are really, really hard to navigate. Can we have sort-by feature? Sort by overall, age, height, archetype, potential etc.

Also, disappointed we can't change existing player numbers. Would love to be able to do this, as it was a really fun little immersion tool in Evo 2.

I think I've had maybe two htb against the opposition. Almost every friggin time I tackle someone the ball just magically happens to spill directly to another opposition player. Just feels straight up unfair tbh

I've only just started to tackle the opposition again the past few nights. Previously 1landed 1 proper tackle every couple of games.

I loved Evo 2s sliders, I played one season where EVERY tackle resulted in HTB (both sides). It was fun (as was doing the opposite where there were NO frees from tackles).

I'm curious with how much more tinkering will get done. I'd love to get it on another system to play against others... but I'm probably safer on pc only.

You guys get my point though, right? It just doesn't seem like a necessary inclusion, personally. It's also just for the respect aspect of it, but I guess people can do what they want in their own homes.

Does anyone know if the Madden NFL games include their National Anthems or pre-game traditions?

Is the AI still drafting delisted free agents and older state players over 18 year olds? My biggest gripe with the mode right now. That and the fact you can't train players.

Playing the new PS patch. First game on hardest and all is going well at half time, I'm winning 5.0 (30) to 1.4 (10). Appreciating the fact that a half assed tackle isn't going to prevent me from actually kicking. But I'm not sure what happened from there on out, I ended up going scoreless in the second half losing 5.0 (30) to 8.5 (53). So here's some notes I had:

1. Did spoiling get nerfed? It was perfect before, significantly easier to spoil than to mark as is the case in real life because you don't need to be perfectly positioned under the ball and you're also just smacking the ball away as opposed to catching it and controlling it down. There's no way I forgot how to spoil between last night and this afternoon, I use the spoil all the time in my back 50 pretty much and all around the ground to some extent. But they were just marking everything, and it showed on the scoreboard, a 43-0 second half should not be possible if I was winning in the first half. But the amount of set shots they were getting despite me trying to spoil every entry, I think I maybe spoiled one of their inside 50s in the entire second half.

2. Tackling is still heavily favouring the AI team and I can't figure out how or why this would be happening. I could understand if it was too easy for users to tackle the AI because there's a huge amount of dynamics that come into play with human "error" that wouldn't be the case in the AI. But every ruck tap was going to a contest (btw I won 5 hitouts to their 23, who the **** is Hawthorn's ruck and how did he dominate Lycett and Finlayson????) and the problem is when I get the ball the AI is all over me and there's a stoppage, but user tackling is so ****ing impossible that if their player in the contest received the tap there was nothing I could possibly do. Then an inside 50 and as above there was nothing I could do. This was the case for the entire game compared to the above point which was a small issue in the first half but massive in the second.

3. Adding on to the above, I need an explanation as to what I'm doing wrong with tackling. Lost that stat 16-1 and I know I don't have the button wrong because the animation is trying to tackle but it's just a constant that I can not ****ing tackle no matter what I try. Needless to say this is infuriating because every tackle they land and every tackle I miss is just a constant reminder of this one mechanic that makes the game feel unfair. This is the only major obstacle to calling this game an improvement on any other footy game in every area. And it's been a problem in every patch of this game, maybe lessened this time around given their weak tugs on the jumper don't affect a kick by factor of ~50 metres anymore but it's still a really big problem.

4. I also had that specky issue with it playing on for some reason, I'm normally patient when it comes to individual things because I get how things can easily **** up in the development process but **** me, how hard is it for that to trigger the exact same thing as a normal mark, a "free kick" where they can't tackle. Should be one of the simplest things to code given it's already there for a regular mark.

Wish I had more positives to say, but to go from a 30-10 first half to a 43-0 second half is just demoralising and not enjoyable in any way at all.
 
Would be nice to get some clarity over this mode, we dont really know how much of it is broken (to be fixed), and how much is as its meant to be.
Would be nice to receive some information about the only mode worth playing in the long run. Pro team is MIA with no information. Seaosn mode will last you a couple of weeks at most. We should be able to receive some clarification about one of their 'backcover' features. Doesn't mean we need updates to come in right this second, but some clarity would be nice.
 
Alright I'm in my second match of this patch, half time I'm down 0.3 (3) to 7.1 (43). Again they are just marking. Every. Single. ****ing. Kick. By my count of the individual stats they're winning marking 19-3. What the ****?????? Also upon looking at the controls, it appears you can only tackle if you're pressing L1, I can't imagine this is placebo effect, I'm literally laying tackles now yet it says I've only laid 1. DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME IF YOU'RE ALREADY PARANOID, THIS WILL MAKE YOU SECOND GUESS SHIT YOU SAW LITERALLY ONE MINUTE AGO. The only issue is every time it goes up they're marking, hence the big margin. I mean ffs at least my last game I was winning at HT, this one's gonna be train wreck from start to finish.
