STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

I hope those that wanted set shots to be harder are happy
I'm devastated :( :p

Most of my goals came from on the run kicks or extremely close (almost goal square distance), my usual set shots from 50 were not accurate at all :(
I struggle big time with goals on the run. Within 35-40 metres I’m fine, but don’t think I’ve had a single kick from outside or close to 50 make the distance
 
Quite surprising management mode is still unplayable weeks after release. Disappointing as this was meant to carry me through to Diablo 4. :(
Really disappointing, was hoping after taking days off it would be in a state where I'd be comfortable to start. Crashing seemed to be fixed when I last tried which was nice, but sad to hear people are still finding it unplayable
 
Until tomorrow's patch it will be an exploit to kick on the run instead of set shot.

Haha I didn't kick that many on the run either (1 didn't even make the distance, had one get touched over the behind line and another veered away from the goal). On set shots I was close on a couple (hit the post) but others were not very good (and certainly not gif or video worthy to laugh at my failures). Hence why I opted to mark the ball as close to the square as possible!

I think I have re-learned set shots again, but we'll see in follow up matches.

There are so many momentum swings in this thread where we've got cheerleaders for the game, then those that detest the bugs throw their weight around, and those that pine for the older games.

I get the love for the older games but comparing them to 23 is like comparing a car with wonky steering to a horse and cart.

Around half the old games made stadium sized compromises to be viable with almost all having a game breaking tactic that you could use whenever you felt like winning the game. Some you could never mark, others you could only kick a goal in a certain way. A lot had ridiculous bugs, moronic commentary ('couldn't get on to it!') and the tap-kick-goal problem.

Each to their own but it's entitlement at it's best imo. We got a buggy game, so what. Not the first, won't be the last. BA are clearly the best mob for the unenviable task of creating a viable franchise out of this bonkers sport. And if you disagree, well, the old games are still there and the old threads can still be found in this forum. You can go hang out with your mates and talk how amazing the greatest AFL game ever is.

All that aside, the guy that made the below video did an incredible job reviewing the old games and if you're in this forum, take a bow dude. Outstanding work. Talk about memories.

 
Hats off to those that continue to persist playing a game in this state. You must have good patience and not get so frustrated.

Get the feeling this game is taking more work or repair work than they expected and there’s been no news on cricket so get the feeling that will probably get pushed back which is a shame. Hope I’m wrong there.

having the exact same issue not a single player on essendon can kick outside 50
 
The season will be long gone by the time management mode gets fixed, IF it even gets fixed.
The only reason I bought this game was to have a long management career and genuinely play it for a few years until a new game came. It got hyped up to be the best career mode we'd seen in an AFL game ever.

Right now I understand gameplay needs to be fixed but absolutely nothing has been done to make management mode worth playing. It's beyond unrealistic, bug riddled, missing areas. Does not compare to the best 06/07 career modes

Haven't noticed much if any difference after this patch.

I'm spraying a lot more shots that I have previously nailed!! So they've done something (or I've been getting away with not doing the timing 100% spot on previously and now I'm paying the price lol).

I nailed a set shot from just outside the 50m line, I thought it was destined for the goal post..... it just miseed it and landed/bounced just after the goal line. Tried to do the same kick for goal again, and it sailed more to the right, but before that I hit 4 set shots in a row.
 
I'm not the only one wondering wtf they're doing with these patches am I?

They're just essentially tweaking some inhouse sliders. Why not put sliders in the game and let the users fix that side of things whilst you focus on all the bugs?

Where are the damn bug fixes for the game that have been there since day one? They also seem to be adding more bugs with every patch.

And still my number one concern, where is Hamish?

Here's 3 shots with the timing meter pressed at different spots. None of them pressed in the blue zone which is the "ideal" spot according to the in game guide. All 3 went straight and goal.




Doesn't make any sense. This is on tonights patch on hardest difficulty.

The confusion between the guides and the actual ideal timing in game is causing mass frustration around here lol. The spoiling is the same thing, as well as ruck.

Second bar I actually thought that was the "aimer" and had to be pressed in the middle for accuracy (yes I had no idea lol)

I haven’t played tonight’s patch but I let the first bar go all the way to the end because there is no penalty for it as long as you press the second timer well before the blue
