Multiplat AFL 23: Launch Thread (Xbox release date TBC)

STATE OF PLAY:

• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Well I didn’t wanna come back here but boy oh boy.

Fixes needed:

• the game is wayyyy too easy. I’ve used bad sides and beaten good ones by 200+ on the hardest difficulty
• handballs just aren’t worth using. Never hit targets
• shots on the run are guaranteed goals
• no stats
• no tactics
• can’t change player ratings or positions
• the AI cannot take a mark
• spoils way too OP for user
• interchange needs to be on full auto or it doesn’t work
• weird bug where your backs and forwards swap on the team sheet
• secondary rucks don’t play ruck at all
• every player plays the same
• if you win a clearance, mark that possession down as a goal
• tackling doesn’t work
• interchange/reserves list is one massive list and I didn’t know how to set the bench + sub

Positive notes:

• kicking game is fun, love transitioning the footy
• players look great apart from a few faces here and there
• animations are awesome
• crowd sounds are great
• commentary is solid and flows well

The state the game is in right now is worse than Evo 1 and 2 and Live 1 but a few fixes will boost it right up there.

So much potential here, just a huge disappointment.

Hopefully they add in match stats and fix interchanges, feels like the bare minimum of gameplay hasn’t been done.

I'd be curious to see how much further it could be stripped back given currently there is no logo or guernsey creator for custom teams, playable state league teams, any of the mini games listed in the YouTube trailer and of course pro team. Really glad I chucked a sickie to play today

Big Ant Studios are aware of issues with the initial day one patch for #AFL23.

In order to ensure the best gameplay experience possible, we have made a smaller patch that addresses gameplay and stability issues that will be released today.

We will then re-introduce other elements of the game over the next week to ensure the best possible result for AFL fans.

What about release of the Ultimate team that you guys promised users? It was mainly part of the reason i purchased the game?

Big let down by Big Ant team.

Promised us the world and delivered us a fu*king atlas.

So, if I understand correctly.

The finished game was launched (not an old build)

A patch was released as well.

The patch nerfed the game.

The patch has been stripped back to essentially what was intended to be the final build, but with some gameplay and stability improvements.

That still invites the question why certain features were missing like tactics and State Leagues. Was the nerfed patch meant to add those?

During game stats. Quarter by quarter. Leading goal kickers, disposals etc.

Just patched it, still have the interchange bench on the custom ground, and players still can't turn without running backwards.
