Multiplat AFL 23: Launch Thread (Xbox release date TBC)

STATE OF PLAY:

• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

In seriousness I might be talking out my arse here so someone more knowledgable correct me if so, but my assumption is pushing patches/content to Steam is faster and more direct for devs than PlayStation, Xbox etc. Like, less of a process.

You know what sucks the most though, Big Ant games have so much promise there's stuff in there that works at times that if they spent some more time on could really be something but it just seems like they don't or instead of nailing one thing they try to do to much and include 100 things that are mediocre instead of refining 3 or 4 things that have value. The best they have done is DBC14 and AFL Live 1. I might come off like I hate the company or Ross or whatever but I don't I still buy there games because there are glimmers that one day everything is going to click and they'll dev something of insane quality sadly as of yet that promise hasn't been delivered. I really do hope they fix this thing and we look back at the launch in a month or two and be like "farout the launch was rocky but how good is pro team and the gameplay now

It's significantly easier and faster to push a patch on Steam, I think that the developer/publisher has to pay every time they release a patch on consoles IIRC.

Glad the player swap button is working.

For me AI not spoiling is the big one.

That being fixed alone will make the game 10 x more difficult as it will reduce your chances of I50 marks etc.

Hope that one is next on the list!


The other thing I haven't noticed is bumping.

When running side by side to the ball I tried to bump but nothing worked.

That would boost things game play wise too!

In game stats will be a very welcome addition too when that patches in.

Yeah I don't know exactly how it works but you have to jump through a few hoops to patch a console version.
