Multiplat AFL 23: Launch Thread (Xbox release date TBC)

STATE OF PLAY:

• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Just had a quick game on Steam, not sure if it's a new patch but it was a really different experience. It felt a bit like Saturday's build with some tweaking, with the Sunday 'feel' largely gone.

Main observation is that the lighting in Marvel stadium is disabled, it is in darkness and unplayable. Is anyone else getting this?

Game balance feels a bit like a regression - players have to be five metres in the clear to kick, punching appears to be nerfed again with defending largely pointless. Being able to handball while being tackled occurs much less often, including when tackled from behind.

With patches coming thick and fast not too fussed with this one but the game I had just now and the games I had last night feel completely different. If I am paying the exact same build that's a real surprise. Hopefully it's today's patch otherwise I'm really confused.

Just a random thought/question (not sure if it’s a dumb one at that). Is it possible when console gets the patch update tonight/tommorow morning, even though both platforms will be on the same patch level, is there possibility that one platform will play better then the other?

Is that a thing or am I an idiot. (It sounded like a fair question to me) perhaps some of the engineers that have voiced them self will be able to answer my question.

Definitely need that pop-up added. Your player can kick a bag and you can only try and remember how much they currently have atm

Obs not as good as a stats bar, but I played about 10 AFLW games today (on ps4 it plays better then men’s atm) and I was thinking the same , but the commentators actually were bringing up how many the person is lining up for or like a now she’s got 4 after it goes through the goals.

The commentators I think are much better to listen to (never thought I would say that about Kelly underwood in a million years). It just doesn’t sound as rushed as Hudson.

Yeah? Based on the evidence, the game wasn't ready. At this point and where it's at, it might be better to pull it, fix it then do a re-release with Xbox as someone else suggested. A bit of a pressure release.

I found that if you lose focus of the game window whatsoever its an instant crash, really disappointing.

I've only had 1 crash in my very first game on the night the game launched. Not one crash since. Guess I'm lucky.

Serious question? I’ve noticed I’m getting pinged for incorrect disposal a **** tonne but when I tackle the opposition and they drop the ball it’s play on everytime!! Is this a bug??? Or should I stop using Port Adelaide?

It's a bug that the menu times out and exits, it may appear to be related to a button press but likely isn't.

I found some photos on Facebook from Grant Schwarzkopf which made like a lot easier.
All logos and sponsors are ready to go for RFL. The time consuming thing is creating the players. Making 6 teams from Spencer Gulf took me three nights.

I haven't had any crashes since Saturday night (one was during a cycling of the camera options during a match, the other was when I took a defensive 50 mark).

I've had 20 matches since without a crash
