STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Saves will continue after patches - no need to restart.


I'll make that happen - really can't say when. It will be free for everyone regardless of purchase.

Appreciate the sentiment but we're on the home stretch now, Steam will get patches over the weekend, Consoles will get an update that includes the Weekend + Monday's patch
Thought gameplay was more of a focus today guessing maybe tmoz would love more tackles

Will more issues be addressed after the initial 1-2 week period of the patches we've had so far ?
Sorry for appearing rude in asking.

Things like the added speed of the AI (which I experienced for the majority of the match vs North Melbourne where my gifs are from) is a bit tedious. If it's an intended mechanic for the AI to "catch up" to human actions, it's not a fun mechanic lol.

This is what we call "lerping" where the outcome is incorrect based on the tackle distance being too wide, with also an incorrect animation (so there is a slide) - we are fixing these as we find them.

It can't be easy trying to please everyone with their wishes and wants with improvements, but you've done well in putting the pieces back together :) considering the launch didn't go as planned.

Going from the initial announcement that Big Ant was back in the AFL driver's seat, was an early season launch ALWAYS the intended goal ?
I'm not a marketer, so I guess 'early season' is ideal so afl/video game fans can play the game all season long. Speaking from my own greedy perspective, I would have launched pre finals series (probably a financial mistake) but my logic would be that there would be attention on it due to the finals..... but also it being fresh in people's minds during the off season. I tend to play sports games both during when the real life season is in progress, but also during off season (so cricket, madden, nba 2k etc get played at various points of the year, including when they are in their real life off seasons).

I’m really enjoying the ball movement in the game now. You can play both fast and slow and the AI is really good at moving around to facilitate both styles.

The difference from the release version is night and day. It’s a genuinely fun game now.

Obviously still a long way to go and once we get those on the fly tactics things will hopefully be even better. But the game has come so far in a week.
 
I’m confused, so tonights patch won’t release early tomorrow for PS5/4, it will be on Monday..?
well tonight’s patch should be available for ps tomorrow morning. But the patches that are being released on steam on Saturday and Sunday won’t be available for ps until Monday or Tuesday morning I guess when it should come as one package.
 
Been enjoying the game solo, but just played my first online game and experienced a lot of the issues others have been talking about. Definitely plays a lot worse with many more bugs and weird shit happening. At times Igloo and I may as well not have touched the controller as the game had seemingly just decided what it was going to do without much input from us. I know the coding etc is the same but for whatever reason it doesn't play as smoothly. Will track it all next time I play and submit a ticket.

Is the interchange/sub still bugged?

I’m not sure how to promote players from my reserves to the bench/sub.

Been on a roll with management mode today on PS5 with no more crashes and gameplay being at least playable (still needs plenty of work). I like setting the lineups the same as the real life lineups, for rounds already passed, but this week's debutant for the Bulldogs O'Donnell isn't even on AFL 23, or at least on the Bulldogs list

Yeah onlines a bit of a put down and wait atm. I imagine will be on the agenda before pro team launches at least
 
Gday Ross, when do you reckon we’ll see a patch on being able to play with two players offline. Can’t add another controller without being disconnected from PSN
