Nope still not working. When you add second controller it comes up with a sign in page within the game. Start inputting email address and after 3 or 4 characters crashes to an error screen.
So what’s the steps to reproduce this?
I tried:-
  • Have two controllers signed in to PS5 and connected to PSN accounts
  • Start the game
  • Controller 1: Press X to get past splash screen.
  • Controller 1: Select ‘Play Now’
  • Controller 1: Select AFL
  • Controller 2: Press Start to add Controller. (I think I needed to press this a second time… not sure)
  • Controller 2 account ‘signs in’ in the game, and can be switched to either side.

Got my 'Downtown' achievement thanks to this monster kick which is still rolling around the streets of Adelaide somewhere.

In all seriousness, the 200m kicks, 100m handballs and general ball physics where the ball keeps rolling and rolling until it crosses the boundary need to be fixed if this game is going to be "the most authentic video game football experience to date".

I wonder if you could see those streets if you use the interactive replay on the ball. I saw someone trying to do that to see what AAMI Park looks like from Punt Road.

we can all bicker over what we think of each others opinions and feedback/criticism but we've all got one thing in common and that's the desire for a great AFL game.
That’s something I don’t think we are going to get. Big Ant will work on one thing, but people will always complain about something else, in the end proving it will never be perfect.

Look at the release of eFootball (PES free to play) - the release was crap, exactly like AFL23. Modes missing, failed gameplay and animations. Maybe the issue there was the move to unreal engine - we won’t know. But eFootball is still missing important game modes and the edit mode. That is a massive fail in release, and still is.

You just can’t take the camera position to outside the field… but you can see the surroundings (like AAMI Park, the ‘G and Richmond Station here).

I do everything but when I get to the final dot point it crashes to an error screen. Doesn't even let me enter the email to login, just crashes after a few seconds/characters entered.

BigAntStudios can you please explain the discrepancy between opposition getting rid of the ball from every tackle and the player not having any way of doing so once the opposition lays hands on them?

For a while I was getting more success using the Clearance Handball/Kick (L2) when being tackled.
Also, some tackle animations will allow a handball, others won’t.

Isn’t eFootball free and not $99?

Although, its gameplay is top tier, you'll see that echoed on YouTube a lot. And it's free, I had so much fun with it. The brand just isn't as popular as FIFA, though, it's missing the licenses and modes, too, but the gameplay and online mode is worth playing it.

I’m honestly confused by your post and not sure you thought it through before posting.

You’re trying to go in to bat and defend BA but you’re then comparing their $100 game to a F2P game and coming to conclusion that they’re both very similar.

Well I know which I’d prefer if given the option…..that’s right, the one that costs substantially less money for a similar quality product.

On the other end of the spectrum we have Ross comparing AFL23 to EA Sports titles.

Completed the finals series and The Mighty Hawthorn Hawks are 2023 premiers :D

The QF and PF were tighter contests than the grand final itself. I was sure I was going to get overrun in the earlier games. But the grand final itself.... WOWSERS, it was tight in the first half. But the second half, the AI kind of crapped itself - it wasn't the usual spreading/sprinting/dominating self and I was able to break them down further with chip kicks mixed with clever (but risky knowing how dodgy it can be) handballs.

Pre and post Grand Final antics

So keen to play this myself eventually. A shame management mode is a long way off what was promised atm.

I've submitted a ticket but I wanted to say this on here anyway. I really really really hope big ant flesh out the management career mode. Right now, I don't think its unfair to say that its their Main Mode and its horribly lacking depth. Evo 1 and 2 had pretty in depth career mode which included financial management, staff, training, tactics ect. Right now we basically have a stripped down season mode with draft and player contracts. Its quite disappointing. I hope Ross and Big ant make this a priority.
