I think this is the main point where we differ. I'm an old prick, I've seen the full spectrum
Sadly, I'm probably an even older prick :oldman:

I think as gamers we've all been screwed over enough in the last few years with sub-standard releases where games are released far from complete and need to wait for patches (sometimes months away) before a game is at a decent point.

I can see Ross is putting his money where his mouth is, he's a punter that doesn't mind mixing in, and if he was to magically transform into some type of customer service bot that that half the board appears to want I think the place would be poorer for it.
My issue is when you come out as a developer and publicly berate another develop you've automatically set yourself up on a pretty high pedestal so you had better believe that you will be judged on absolutely everything and I mean, everything so even the tiniest of mistakes or lack of transparency and understandably people will take notice and comment.

I think what's worse is any form of criticism (even constructive) is taken as a personal attack and thus, we have people on ignore lists, repeated posts disagreed with even if it's a persons personal opinion, people blocked on social media and constant snarky remarks towards particular individuals. I get it, you're a developer and you're proud of your work and you don't like seeing people make negative comments but at the same time you're in a public forum for all to see and be judged on.

I mean if you're going to come out and compare your games to the same standard as EA or 2K you better believe people are going to remember that and make reference to it when your game isn't even close to the depth or content delivered by those titles.

I know Ross has his little group of followers and that's fine but I also think that clouds a lot of peoples thoughts so any time Ross says something it's good and anyone who goes against that is bad!

Where do you think AFL 23 will be in six iterations compared to the WW series? Current gen consoles require much more effort, the gameplay engine (for want of a better term) needed to be rebuilt from the ground up
Who knows? Given the current state of affairs we might not even have an AFL game beyond the next couple of years. I don't think we can blame current gen consoles when we have the same issues plaguing PC and previous gen so I think it's just their inability to optimise for each one and that's why we have seen a massive delay in console patches because further testing is required.

Now if the game was in a better place before day one what is the excuse for further testing being required now? 2mths after the initial launch date and almost 6wks after the actual launch.

To argue otherwise means at some point you are assuming a sequence of undetected issues is impossible and that someone somewhere at a critical point in the process did their job.
Well if Ross would disclose that info like he said he would, we could put the entire conspiracy theory to rest.

I won't milk this one but Sony EU don't owe BA a thing. I'm sure they have no problem breaking an SLA when it suits them. Also where is the relationship at between Sony and Nacon? Nacon and BA? All probably fine but as soon as you're working with other parties chances of things changing at short notice increase exponentially.
Obviously but why was only this patch (today's) described in a roundabout manner? The usual "we've submitted the patch and it should come through around the usual time" would have simply let people know there is a patch due tomorrow.

Again, I have no desire for the game to fail and would like to see it become a good game but that doesn't mean you can't have negative opinions on it or disagree with a CEO who is obviously going to defend their product in to the ground but at the same time, I think if you're going to put yourself in the community you need to take the bad with the good and in a more respectful and mature manner.

Had a quick play this morning - Had tactics but didn't get enough time to give it a proper run but it was 100% an option.

Ruck taps are winnable for me now and I even have a chance to dispose of the ball before being insta tackled.
Handball chains look to be running better, but still only played 2 quarters before I had to leave so will find out tonight, but it does look promising.

All my other issues are down to my own user ability skills.

Didn't get to start management so unsure on injuries, suspensions and such.

It would be nice to get a run down on what the patch did though.

First game in a couple weeks on PS5.

Tactics are good and appear to work.

I just hope that behind closed doors BA are working hard on players teleporting and more responsive controls.

The game has improved a lot since I last played.

Love the goal kicking now... Very challenging and rewarding.

On VOG-L09 using BigFooty.com mobile app

I'd say this might not be it, it could be the patch when tactics were added, but totally unsure.
Are tactics added to the pre-match screen or still just in the pause menu? The pre-match patch came a day or two later.

Thanks for reading.

I don't think we can take this too much further. I think we're covering a version (or aspect) of the two opposing views on this board, with probably a bit of overlap at the base level. e.g. bugs are bad, careful with the statements; all things said BA remain the clear best choice for this work (kudos to the next poster who says EA should do it - while we're at it how about a merger between Insomniac and Rockstar so they can pour billions into the next title).

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a bit of industry stuff going on as well with a dash of historical beef, I won't touch it. I would make a rubbish mod that's for sure. This time next year hopefully bug-gate is a distant memory and a lot of us can have a laugh about how theatrical it became. At least there's passion, right?

But that’s the thing, the whole point in my opinion of management mode isn’t to simulate haha!
I can live with it if they don’t get injured in the game but you find out afterwards. Would prefer in game but won’t kill the game if that’s not in.
Injuries are definitely in the game!

You just don't get an alert that they have happened, which I hope is being fixed.

I've noticed a few times in my Tigers season that players had been missing from starting 22, then when going through the team management for the next game 3 or 4 of them are highlighted in red and when clicked on, describe the injury. e.g Prestia was out for 3-4 weeks with a meniscus tear.

But there needs to be a 'inbox' alert that advises of this.

I think at the end of the day it all boils down to this yeah? Most of us are here because we have an interest in the game, want it to improve and want value for our money and obviously some of us have different thresholds of what’s acceptable.

As a 100% online gamer this game to me is not playable in the sense of enjoyment and bugs/exploits completely ruining any given match.

If I was in to Management mode I’d again not be happy because of the complete lack of actual managing you’re able to do.

If you’re in to customisation and creation you’re probably decently happy from a uniform and stadium standpoint. Player rating editing etc seems a more contentious issue.

Play Now and Season mode seem semi-playable, all the known bugs aside.

So I think depending on what you actually want from the game determines how you currently feel about it and with Ross himself saying online fixes have taken a back seat, that’s enough for me to feel that’s completely unacceptable when you’re offering it as a game mode.

Adding something simple such as an inbox or an alert system of some sort would be much appreciated!

I hope the injuries side of things is getting fixed though :)

Yeah so the PS5 patch was just the tactics patch. Nothing additional to what we’ve seen
Tactics options are up before you start a game also
Tackling is better although still not great and all of the other gameplay issues still remain
The zone looks awesome and works well enough, but the lack of control over your players is what hurts the most
Man on man is probably the best option until this is fixed as the AI find a way through the zone so easily when you can’t move your players in the direction you want

I’m gonna assume the patch notes posted above didnt apply to this PS5 patch considering the radar overlaps the set shot meter as I posted above. But its good to know on set shots, we’re encouraged to kick in the red zone. I couldn’t figure it out before how to cover distance.

Was the injuries from simulating a game? Or from playing a game? Mine pop up from simulating but never from playing a game

All from playing games, I haven't simmed any of my richmond career and noticed injuries across both seasons so far.

I even went to change Nank out for Soldo to get a taller ruck but couldn't as Soldo was injured!

I have had Riewoldt, Soldo, Graham and Grimes injured all at the same time. Was forced to play Biggy Ngyuon at full back and got monstered by Hawkins ha ha

I’ve found injuries happen to blokes out of the side but not in the 23 that played.
