I take that as the game has not broken even as the mode is non-existent, and I don't see a way in which they'll be profiting as much as initially anticipated given the complete drop off from consumers by this point. Sales numbers are going to be inflated because everyone waited 10 years for a decent AFL game. Their 'success' in sales has absolutely nothing to do with them as a developer but moreso the absolute want for an AFL game.

In saying that, it's hilarious to see them take credit for it.

Gameplay is paramount above all. And game_chromosome did say something about early access. I'm really impressed with what he achieved by himself. Have you seen or played Legend Bowl? That is also made by 1 guy, that went viral, even made it onto some TV show.

I helped Javo early in his development of Legend Bowl. He had some issues and posted on the game maker forums.

Absolutely phenomenal what he has achieved by himself.

I don't know about Footy Showdown being the savior of AFL games... It seems like a nice little project but I feel like it's gonna mainly be just Play Now games and that's it and while the gameplay has a chance to be nice, I don't think it'll have the longevity needed but I don't know. That's up to the developer of the game to decide what to put in. I hope he does finish it but let's not push him as the only hope here. Might cause him to stop due to the pressure and we don't need that. We're already starved for good Aussie Rules game at it is...

EDIT: You know what, After seeing what Ross did. Let's push this game to the bloody moon and support this guy. Maybe he should get a Patreon going for it. Someone needs to give Ross an ego check.

They sent a submersible down a couple of weeks ago to look for it but that didn’t go too well either!
Xbox users should be appreciative that people have died trying to recover their copies!

THAT is clown behaviour and if I was an employee of his I would’ve been shaking my head had they seen that comment. Criticising a game never warrants personal attacks if you ask me.

It was only him making a smart arse referral to someone who had previously applied for a job and clearly intending to antagonise said user. I cant remember exactly what the other person had being saying but irregardless, two wrongs dont make a right.

As above, he didn’t disseminate any details about the individual, he just revealed they had applied for a job and then made a snide remark that the poster must have failed on character grounds.
Still super inappropriate.

In fairness theres really not much else to discuss as per gameplay since we all know where its at. The same frustrations have been there since Day 1, some have been rectified and others havent. Some of us actually want the game to be better and are still waiting on this PS patch but until then, most of the grounds been covered I’d say….

I think that was very much to be expected once the move happened. There really isn't anything new to talk about and with no new updates, It's very much turned into Group Autopsy on the game and the future of AFL gaming with the info we know and what the game is with people putting in their opinions of what they would do if they made an AFL game as a buffer. Sometimes we even make jokes before going back to the same old stuff.

If the game was good and people were enjoying it, We would be talking about the game. I guarantee it. Almost all of us just want a good Aussie Rules game to play. No-one went into this wanting it to turn into this garbage. If you who may be reading this did indeed want whatever the hell this turned into, I would like to have a very polite chat with you and ask you the following question...

I wanted a good AFL game, But I was also curious to see what would happen if it wasn't (eg: the constant bagging of Wicked Witch and Evo 1 + 2 blowing up in people's faces). I knew the kind of game I didn't want (a carbon copy of AFL LIVE) and was fearful that's what we were going to get.

Weighing up the percentages I figured there would be some bugs and glitches (EVERY game has them, it's just whether or not they're game breaking).
Even with Big Ant's track record in recent years (Cricket 22, Cricket 19, Australian Open 1 & 2).... I didn't think AFL 23 would be as broken as it was at launch.

It's kinda like doing a reverse Steve Bradbury - without managing to finish 1st

Hahaha!!!

The only person’s feelings who were hurt was the one reverting to childish name calling and then blocking people so they didn’t have to cop it back.

The posters here gave as good as they got and in the end, someone spat the dummy and created their own safe space where they’re surrounded by others who cherish and respect them and they don’t have to face the realities of the game being released in a garbage state with not much improvement since.

This is why i couldn't understand why people were praising the game, when handballing is just impossible in 23. I watch gameplay footage of others, and they don't even handball, you'll be punished by the game. Everybody just kicks to a 1v1 marking contest that always ends in a one try/one pluck mark or a spoil.
