Hahaha!!!

The only person’s feelings who were hurt was the one reverting to childish name calling and then blocking people so they didn’t have to cop it back.

The posters here gave as good as they got and in the end, someone spat the dummy and created their own safe space where they’re surrounded by others who cherish and respect them and they don’t have to face the realities of the game being released in a garbage state with not much improvement since.
Honestly, he could have been Biff Tannen to all of us, but if the game was brilliant, I couldn't careless, I'd just ignore it and play the game. Although, him being incredibly rude and nasty to the fans, after launch; 3 years after he hounded his ex-employer on here, after Evo 2 was just wow.

Fair call, wonderful feeling getting some laughter in this forum to keep this forum funny. Honestly it’s better this way dont you think? Separating game-related discussions to another forum while keeping this one for random funny gamer rage makes it easier for readers to know what to expect. It helps maintain clarity and organization within the community.

He did mention that the game had completely sold out and had very little returns so I’m hoping they did manage to break even without the Xbox version and their microtransactions mode
They won't, Ross said the market is too small. That's why I don't get them blowing the budget on "the graphics". Looks very dated graphically, when compared to Resident Evil 4 remake, which I played recently. I've never understood small developers or indie devs trying to compete with creating "photorealistic" graphics, when triple A titles are always going to be far better at it, they'll be judged harshly for wasting the effort and it doesn't even improve the gameplay. Untitled Goose Game made in Melbourne by 4 guys sold millions, that was with a simple art style.

Hey, now that Mr. Ant is gone, you can unspoil the forbidden gameplay footage.

I could and will occasionally but spoiling the videos (especially if I were to put multiple videos in 1 post) keeps the post size low. Less scrolling for those that don't want to see them :p

I knew the kind of game I didn't want (a carbon copy of AFL LIVE) and was fearful that's what we were going to get.
It's not even close to the same quality. Live 2011 was designed around moving quickly and handpassing, whereas 23 punishes you for doing any of that. 23 almost reminds me of the IR Gurus games, but with PS1 tank controls.

I don’t see bigant making any money from Proteams now, for this iteration of the game. Let’s say best case scenario- Proteams is available by Round 18 (2 weeks). That’s 10 weeks of the Season left. And that’s not to guarantee the online gameplay will be good yet. No one is going to want to invest extra money into the mode for that short lifespan. Theyre gonna have to make it ‘play to earn’ for new packs, and use it as a sample for future years.
I suspect Big Ant would still be hopeful that Pro Teams can be strongly monetised in 2024. Its not a yearly release cycle like the other games with Ultimate Team modes. It will be interesting to see how they design the mode to make it engaging to keep coming back to.

My next retro game will be a 1997 Grand Final Rematch, but i'll be making sceenshots only

But then he also sank to a level of pulling out a users private business and rubbing an old job application in his face. Not on. THAT is clown behaviour and if I was an employee of his I would’ve been shaking my head had they seen that comment. Criticising a game never warrants personal attacks if you ask me.

Do you mind providing more context? I missed seeing it, and this would shift the narrative from BigAnt choosing to “retire” to their own forum, to more likely being asked to leave….

Its been covered previously mate only a few pages ago. I’m not interested in repeatedly beating a dead horse with this issue, the point was how he acted was unprofessional and I said it in the context of how he’s responded to various people with terms like clowns when most of the time it was just someone criticising the game.

Been a while since I checked in on this game lol. After 3 unsuccessful refund attempts on Steam (due to playing hours after every patch) I finally managed to get my $100 back after citing comparisons to the ACCC's response to how many missing/broken aspects of Fallout 76 was released. Steam support didn't argue once consumer law was raised with them haha

Honestly had higher hopes for this game, but after all the waiting and patches I feel like I can put $100 towards something meaningful.

Maybe I'll check back on the game in a years time... Who knows if it'll get any better but hey, one can dream. Maybe we'll never get a perfect footy game 🥲

How long did you play it for? And how did you contact Steam? Please, give us a tutorial for us Steam users to get a refund.

Question: why can’t we all be allowed to see things differently, agree to disagree without anyone questioning why, attacking that person or laughing at them? Both sides are doing it.

Hmm but I was made sure a few pages back that that doesn’t happen here. Funny someone else sees what I see.

Genuine question.. Do we all honestly think the game is dead? Considering pro team, cross play, Xbox be released and hopefully countless more updates to come. Not attacking his point just genuinely curious

Discuss…

Atm the moment the game is probably very lowly played going by peoples opinions, I myself am enjoying it, however I don’t play it every single day so maybe it hasn’t warn off on me yet.

I do think when patches come out as well that sparks people’s interest to play for an hour or whatever it may be test the patches and if it’s still shit people will drop off. It’ll be the same when pro team drops, people will try it out and if it’s a flop that’ll probably kill it off. I for one will give a game a chance for a while and am holding out for pro team but if it’s shit then the game might slowly start to burn off for me too.

Yep this has been me basically. But now it's more like play for 5 minutes to test the patch. Unless management mode is beefed up, even with a great gameplay patch, I don't see myself playing more of this. All well and good to have great gameplay but if there's no context for it, it doesn't have much replayability.

Tbh I'd probably rather sacrifice some gameplay for management mode depth. But I'm in the minority there I think. And still need better gameplay than we currently have in any case

I’m really hoping the next PS5 patch really fixes up gameplay as Pro Team was a mode I was really eager to see. But in the current state its in, I won’t be spending a dollar of my money on the game unless online gets patched also. In saying all that, I havent played the game for 16 days and I’m not exactly rushing to get back to it. Its just whatever for me now.

I maintain that the game is a pretty good couch multiplayer game (even with the bugs). Have had quite a few epic matches with friends.

Jumped on for the first time in 5 or so days.
We’re 2 months in and I just have 5 interchange players and no sub.

Big Ant are just getting ahead of the AFL's planned change for season 2024 :p

** watching some guy play it on twitch on medium, I'm trying to give him tips but he's not listening (playing as North vs West Coast).

Just come back to this thread and BA's after not touching it for a bit under two weeks, really dissapointing to see almost no changes, **** all patches even though we were told we'd have almost daily patches on steam, handballing still broken, interchange/sub still broken, stuck in the mud still extremely prevalent in game, glitched animations galore, and not being able to go 15 seconds without another glitch.

Nah, this game is done.

I've been one of BA's biggest defenders, and was so very keen for this to come out. I'm not a gamer, I'll pour my time into any AFL game for love of the sport...except this one.

I've wasted 170 dollars (controller and game) on this rubbish game. I've persisted through an awful launch and frustrating patches and it's still a lukewarm piece of dogshit, and we're now over halfway through the real season.

The arrogance of Ross in this and other thread has completely ****ed me off any Big Ant game produced. I have been duped into buying a half-baked, undercooked and apathetic excuse for Australian football. I will never spend a cent on this company again, and that's a real shame as we don't have many Australian gaming companies.

The game is still borderline unplayable, there are no features worth persisting for, the gameplay is stale, boring and impersonal and I've never put the controller down feeling any sense of fulfilment. Every game plays out the same. There are no complexities. It's a centre-half-forward simulator, replete with timing minigames that don't actually work, no sense of control over the players, and literally 0 attempts at creating depth and immersion. How they've put in every state league player with likenesses, yet had no opportunity to add injuries, suspensions, sub, working interchange, any form of coaching, complex tactics, the basic ability to handball etc is nothing short of disgraceful.

These grifters charged 100 dollars for this game.

After the umpteenth teleport tackle and then a crash, the controller I actually bought to play this game has gone across the room, and into a few pieces. And flatly that summarises my experience with this game.

I've uninstalled and I don't care anymore.

I've been playing Management Mode finally and it's okay... besides the crashes.

But there is something missing thus far, a certain touch I can't put my finger on. The Evo games, for all their faults, career/coach mode felt more alive and like something was actually playing out, but here it feels a bit soulless or something, I can't quite put it into words.
