Of course there is content approval.... of the materials we are given - it is not for us to source it, as was implied, nor is it our job to do the negotiations etc. as you also implied.

In short, it's not our job, nor is it the job of any developer making a licensed product - the premise that things could have been done by us ahead of time is bogus, as is the idea that other developers do it ahead of time. We just don't do it, it's not our job!

Indeed we can't do it - to make it really clear - I have no contract with McDonalds, Toyota, the WAFL, the SANFL, or any AFL players - I cannot ask them for anything.
A lot of waffle but completely dodging his entire point about using it in the (limited) marketing material.
 
Haven't played for a week or so. How we lookin?

Good! Especially after update 1.15, on easy and medium modes. Gameplay feels fine tuned and a bit more even between teams, tackling and handballs are even more fun. Precision kicking is, well, good. Also been enjoying the custom stadiums that you can download and try, like Waverley park and retro stadiums.

Looking forward to sliders being included in the future!

Really? It’s probably been a while, but I’ve only ever seen Easy Normal Hard.
They mightve be been removed in a middle patch from launch to now but I remember using both easiest and hardest
 
For all those who say handballing is fine, do you tap or hold the button? Its still pretty stuffed from the game I just played. There just doesnt feel like there’s any element of control handballing, it’s a roll of the dice scenario and it MIGHT go to who it was intended to, especially on switches.

Kicking while being tackled is still the same, it either gets smothered or randomly boots 80 metres, same as quick disposal kicks. It seems to not matter if you charge the meter or not, its going for distance. Auto Subs still seem to have not been fixed (2nd ruck never fills in, half forwards/backs take the midfield spots and the beginning midfielders seem to just vanish….De Goey and Adams 0 touches for a whole game) & still by far the most annoying this is you can get chased down on wings/flanks with nobody around at first and your player can’t run and carry with notable speed to avoid this….

I’m good to play until another 3-4 patches release unfortunately. It’s seemingly gone backwards a bit in the past week or so. Hopefully it all gets fixed but for now its like 1 solution appears, 3 problems arise.

I put the game down for a week or more, played a couple of games then, and it was bloody good compared to my previous attempts. I do agree the handling needs work along with tackling... I think we're getting there though.

Had a crack this morning - played against Carlton and drew 13.4.82 a piece (Bruest got run down as he was about to kick us a winner). Game feels good - handballing only really hits a target if I hold O and aim towards someone, quick handballs just go to the other team or on the floor in front of me. Much less teleporting and weird bugs though. Getting there :thumbsu:

Pretty much destroys management mode for me then. Zero realism if the eagles and roos lists are competitive with the pies and lions, which thanks to the abhorrent player ratings they are.

The lack of confirmation over two weeks from the release date is comical.

I'm hoping Ross will find a way to allow us to treak player stat's for management mode... Surely we can't have such a small gap of quality between the best and worst teams

He's confirmed a few times that you can't edit official player ratings for management mode - there was talk of being able to clone teams and edit the ratings that way but they can't be used in management mode

I was thinking the same way, but it does feel easier playing against bad teams from my experience, so maybe it's just the 'overall' rating that looks wrong. Maybe each stat being 80 or 85 is actually a big gameplay difference. Not sure how much truth there is in this, but it does feel different against certain teams or players.

It'd be great to get a breakdown of what each rating represents in terms of gameplay, on that note. For example (without having the ratings in front of me), does something like "contested ball" actually make a difference or is that 95% position? Same with kicking rating, does that actually impact anything? Handpassing, tackling, etc. Maybe something JNT BA could put together for us? Might help to remove some of these concerns that all teams are just generically rated and ratings are ultimately redundant.

Yeah same, for me it felt like this time last week it was really good, then Thursday when I last played it didnt feel as fluid for whatever reason. I really hope they can get there with ironing out the tackle/handball/kicking bugs because thats all thats really holding it back for me. Its not a bad game by any means, but for me it just feels like there’s a fair lack of player control/responsiveness and hopefully that can be fine tuned.
