Can't please everyone I guess. I'm guessing there will be some people excited about the WAFL though.
It’s not about pleasing everyone, it’s simply about getting access to the features that remain missing from the game after 3wks.

Still no mention of the imminent on-the-run kick meter either.

I feel like everyone who bought the game on release and have kept playing through the updates will be burnt out when the game is finally completed. I'm starting to think BigAnt may have shot themselves in the foot by not removing the game from the shelves until all bugs had been corrected upto the fixed initial release version.

If you are still in that mindset then you aren't probably going to be pleased for a while yet ;)

There is a team of 100+ working at Big Ant, we made the decision to patch daily, taking incremental updates in isolation to each other that have minimal risk to the balance of the game.

Any one element added is not at the expense of another, for example, adding an AFLW ball does not impact or slow down other members the team that are working on online or those modifying and implementing tactics.

I’m playing a game a day to have a suss of new updates. Trying not to flog it now so the hunger is there when it’s complete and I can start my management career (which is now the only place I’ll get to see Dimma raising his 4th cup) 😂

I've just been told "Some column width adjustments for names overlapping and some general tidy up of screens in Academy and Management Mode."
Do you anticipate a layout change for the team selection screen to move away from the scrolling list?
Not a game killer for me but it can be time consuming when there’s so much room on the screen to have all the names there.

Very grateful the WAFL is here

But how tf do West Coast/Perth work out to a higher rating than almost half the comp (4/10 teams) when they can't even win a game? (Perth the exception for having played the Eagles who definitely can't win a game.) Is the same data applied to the WAFL players as the AFL players or...? How is it worked out?

to be fair, pretty much their entire list is out injured. I can imagine a fully fit West Coast WAFL side would be better than Perth. Maybe....

iirc, I don't think West Coast's wafl side has ever been anything but a free 4 points. They've finished last every season since they joined the comp

*just checked, they've won 14 games up to this point since joining in 2019

2019 - 9 wins
2021 - 4 wins
2022 - 1 win
2023* - 0 wins

So I wouldn't really expect them to be rated above any of the wafl sides tbh.... Haven't been great since they joined

Also no team songs for the wafl? :cryv1: Surely they're being added at some point, we had them in Evo 2...

They did actually come 4th in 2019 and made finals so a fully fit afl list can work out for wafl

and it was their first year in the comp they did that

It’s probably worth noting that they had almost the exact same issues in terms of player availability last year as they have had this year.

I’m not, it’s only been just over two weeks since launch. So not very long, and I would say it’s looking close to a finished product in terms of gameplay now. There are still some bugs to iron out. Sure. Hopefully so more features like state leagues, Tactics, Sliders, Legends, are added etc..

I’m really enjoying playing more and more games and mastering the controls, the learning curve for mastering handballs at certain angles with quick reflexes is fun, I’m enjoying short sharp kicks, and of course learning how to dribble kick, drop punt. I like hit outs and spoils as well. I am getting better at taking speckies. The trick is to time the pressing of “L2” and springing off whilst pressing triangle, and it’s fun when it works. The trick is to be fast on the controls and think laterally as well as intuitively figuring out how to stay ahead of the play. Practice, practice, practice.

The online stadium hub is good too. Anyone tried the bat-cave yet, lol. I mean, Waverley park, football park, a lot more etc, has already been created, as well as teams and jumpers. That’s very cool.

I highly recommend turning on “ball-trail”, this helps a lot with vision of ball movement on the ground, and learning how to ease or spring on and off (L1, R1, L2, R2). Learn the control sequences, and the game becomes way better. Going in blind without learning all the combos might get a bit tedious.

The game is a lot more finished than it was at launch, there are still some aspects to work on and fix and I’m sure updates will make it better and better. It’s exciting to see how yearly or bi-yearly incarnations can expand this sporting franchise.

You’d think this would be getting closer for launch on X-Bone.

Mate, the mighty redlegs need everything we can get right now, lol.

FYI that whole right section is for the player comparisons for the away team (if playing local multiplayer)… I suppose it’s only considered wasted space when you’re playing single player.
