The game suddenly "accelerating" players for a few seconds (most commonly seen by AI players going into super human runs at the start) was annoying. I noticed recently.... something changed in a patch whereby the user team's AI would also go on random speed bursts. I'm seeing it a lot more now in random bits of play, jostling contests, rucking contests, handball chains etc etc.

I'd love to know what the root cause is!!

Is it the user's computer configuration ? (Evolution 2 was in constant fast forward mode throughout the entire game. Evolution 1 was as well, but at least they had as speed setting which enabled things to be slowed down).

Is it something in the programming to cover up screwed up animation frames ?

Player zooms south of the 50m line

Adelaide Crow ruck has a sudden zoom during the rucking contest

Jumped the gun on this one, but check the Adelaide Crow trailing the North Melbourne player with the ball

The split second before the Crow and the Kangaroo players contest the mark

They're not as bad as seeing random AI sprint from the wing to the 50m line in a split second action, but still very annoying to see things move at a reasonable speed, then a cloud of dust Road Runner style. I tend to select 30fps just to alleviate the issue but it obviously doesn't solve it.

Neither do half the people here. How do you continue to come in here and read some of the crap some people are writing about your game?
There's only about 5 or 6 that need to be ignored.

There are some genuine people on here that deserve to be heard, and indeed have made a positive difference to the game.

To see something suggested on here and have it represented in game within days is unique and pretty special, I want that to continue.

Can you get fired in alf23? If not, should add that in. Give more of an incentive to do well and added challenge. Coach Contracts would be cool too
On the flip side instead of one year extensions only like Evolution had. You can sign a 2 or 3 year coaching extension. But bring in a poor start to your last season and they can sack you mid year!

Ah the Carlton experience

Ok you’ve got my attention 😉 so the new on the run meter is implementing separate footedness also? 🙏🏼 keen!
Yes.

It will matter who you give it to and the position they are relative to their preferred foot/attributes/etc.

Honnest Opinions On this game

Pros-
  • Graphics are elite
  • 95% of animations are great
  • Core gameplay is much more realistic and flowing then ever before
  • Jerseys, Face Models, Stadiums all look fantastic
  • Set shots are better than before in an AFL game

Cons
  • Management mode is still quite bare
  • Tactics still arent in the game
  • State leagues arent in management mode yet

BigAntStudios would I be correct to infer that tactics are coming and state leagues will come to management mode as previously stated by you or has that changed?

Thanks

Hi Ross, thought I'd take advantage and ask a couple of questions while your about.
1. Is it out of the question that editing players in offline modes ( management) will be added.
2. Will sliders be put into the game.
3. Will the goal kicking be harder in future patches.

If you'd seen the quality of his videos you'd know he doesn't care about graphics in the slightest, he has NFI.

WOW JUST WOW lol

Don't get me wrong graphics are nice to look at BUT game play or at least core working game play should exist before the graphics are spruced up.

**For all of my "whinging" about the game itself, I'd say the game play we currently have is 90% enjoyable - 10% annoying/frustrating.

So the game is getting really fun, played a few variations of games today and I noticed the ground looks more polished, so the grass looks like it's been mowed by an incredible lawn specialist/engineer, graphics seem more polished too.

  • Enjoying improving on high jump marking, which is basically, triangle + L2 and timing the run. Nice!
  • Crowd noise has improved and adds something more to the atmosphere.
  • There is a new kicking metre graphic when lining up for goal, looks cool!
  • Handballing feels more dynamic and intuitive.
  • I really enjoy precision kicking using (x), it feels satisfying.(Especially doing this quickly).
  • Spoiling is fun and remains so.
  • It's starting to remind me a bit of Fifa 16-21, which is cool. This is a good thing.

Only things i've noticed since patch 1.19 are..

  • Sometimes a handball travels 50 metres in the wrong direction, but, that could be that i've pointed R stick in the wrong direction and pressed Long Handball or something that has caused it because of my own error. Not sure.
  • When lining up for goal you walk through a player standing directly in the way, on the mark, sometimes. Which is worth looking into.
  • Reaction time of a player defending a kick-in after a point is sometimes slow. So the defender kicks it in and the player defending the mark doesn't run or move until well after the kick-in, even when mashing the buttons to move away to defend up the ground.
  • Sometimes there is a no-go bubble that surrounds a player, where you can't seem to run to the player until a certain point to defend or tackle. so instead you run around a circular zone until that unlocks(not sure how to describe it any better, laughs).

But i mean, overall, it's a really fun game. Looking forward to future updates.

Evo 2 for all it flaws had these 3 important requests (with goal kicking difficulty being tied to player rating, user timing, angle, wind and slider)
It also had tactics which made a huge difference in feeling in “control” of your side as opposed to just hoping AI team mates do the required thing.

I’d fully expect this game to at least match it on the above issues

So that’s where the devs working on the tactics have been redirected to? 😬

that could be that i've pointed R stick in the wrong direction and pressed Long Handball or something that has caused it because of my own error.
Seriously? No user error should result in a 50m handball 🤣

This was apparently fixed a couple of patches ago and I haven’t seen it since.

I hadn’t had any crashes on the game for weeks until installing the latest patch (1.19 PS4) now it crashes at the end of the game I’m up to on management mode.

Also noticed in the goal kicking stats it’s round 9 and the highest from any other club is on 12 despite teams kicking realistic scores to real life.

And also when going back through fixture the stats on the major ball winners isn’t the same as what happened in my game. I.e laird gets 22 touches, Dawson 18 and i go back and it says Laird 14, Dawson 9 or thereabouts. Has anyone else noticed any of this

So that’s where the devs working on the tactics have been redirected to?

I know what you're saying, sure, but it could also be that the graphics department is separate to the tactics and coding department, and if i was a betting man, and you were working on tactics and sliders, you'd want to get it spot on or near to complete right?!, whilst animation and graphics might be a different form of inclusion. Just my opinion.
