Point is they may not even have even been aware they should be in the game. We weren’t promised those exact features so can’t just expect they’ll be there because other games have them. I agree we shouldn’t need to beg, but raising a fault report on their site and reminding them of the features we wanted isn’t begging and it’s getting the point across to the dev that we expected them there.
BigAnt probably hate me as I’m constantly copying and pasting stuff from here onto their site so we can have our requests/expectations formally logged
Weren't aware, come on mate. They are features that are in their cricket games and in previous WW AFL games.
If they aren't aware of those basic features, they may as well shut up shop now.

Totally agree with ya mate - I just know there’s been a lot of us assuming basic things would be there and they aren’t. Has been a mess of a journey these past few weeks. Fingers crossed our patience is rewarded

I'm starting to think we're a fairly long way off anything resembling what the game was meant to be as much as it's gotten much better from where it was on launch day.

To be honest, I think Big Ant seems to have a problem with being able to say no to having certain features in the game. That's probably how we got in the situation we find ourselves in.

They were too busy trying to cram things into the game right up until the last moment that it ended up breaking everything and giving us what we've got right now. They really needed to put the foot down and say, No we're not having this in the game, That'll have to come in the next game because we don't have the time to implement that at this point. I know that would have disappointed people but it's better to have had the game ready and everything worked out and tested than to have had what ended up happening.

That's probably why we didn't get any concreate details going into the launch, They were probably scrambling to put everything into the game that they said they would because they were desperate to make this the best AFL game ever but frankly didn't have enough time to do it at least from my speculation.

I appreciate Big Ant's ambitions and I love the passion they have for the sport along with what they do want to add to these games down the line, but they tried to add too much in too little time with AFL 23 and that's why we're in this mess at the moment.

Daily patches don't allow anywhere near enough time for testing.

Given the reasons given for the borked launch was a dodgy day one patch that clearly wasn't tested before it went live, it's a strange strategy to double down on.
It's a double-edged sword. They could have decided to do a big patch to fix things and make it the way it was meant to be at launch but considering how long it's taken just to get this far and we're still not close to getting what was expected, If they didn't do these Daily Patches. The Launch would have gone even worse... (if that's even possible...)

Imagine if we were still stuck with the Day 1 version of this game at this point... We would have pretty much been baying for blood and demanding the game get pulled from the shelf and probably reporting the entire debacle to the ACCC on mass in hopes of a mass refund. (Maybe a little bit hyperbolic but that game was in a completely unacceptable state...)

Big Ant backed themselves into that corner with their steps letting up to launch with trying to add so much in the Day 1 patch and it breaking the game. They kinda had two pretty bad choices they could pick from here. They picked the lesser of two evils from their end as much as things have been quite frustrating at times and as much as a big patch with all the fixes would have been better overall. It just made the situation more tenable in the end.

I had a decent game playing 3.5 min quarters with the counting-up clock.
some negatives that I had
  • teleporting tackles
  • teleporting spoils/marks
  • played in 'showers' settings and would like to see more behinds/inaccuracy
  • AI not getting many free kicks against

Definitely unrealistic, Melbourne should probably have a score of 162

Anyone else's wingman running into the centre bounces backwards? I missed a few pages and didn't play Friday mornings patch so not sure if it was since Friday or Saturday

Haven't noticed but haven't played this weekend. Just brought to mind, a fairly easy short term fix to the AI hitout - handball to wing - kick to chf pattern would be to flip the wing positions. So that the wingers are both defensive side and not offensive side. Obviously a better solution would be to have a lot more randomness and chaos, but at least this would stop it being an unstoppable rout once the AI wins the hitout

Management mode is so far from "looking good" it's not funny.

There is no training or system of improving player ability/stat's.
There is no level of reserves
There are no injuries. There isn't even a UI to see if you have injured players.
There is no suspensions or tribunal.
There is no list management features at all.
There is no ability to see your salary cap spendings.
You can literally sign all your players on 10 year contracts on $100,000 per year regardless of age or overall rating.
Age does not affect any aspect of a player at all.

I could easily keep adding to that list.

Management mode is boring, nay the entire game is boring.

It is a complete disgrace we have all paid full price for this game (I have twice with $99 on steam and the $79 pre order for xbox) without any true explanation or transparenty as to what features are in the "final build".

At the rate the patches have been improving the game it may just be enjoyable to play by Christmas.

THIS! I've sent a support ticket but I have a feeling if we all start sending support tickets about this, they'll get the message. NO ENCOURAGING SPAMMING HOWEVER!!

What features should they say no to? There’s barely anything in the game so far.

Marking/spoiling is so incredibly frustrating. You either win pretty much every contest or lose pretty much every contest. It feels like the balance of player attribute vs user skill is way off. It feels like it was a lot better balanced a few patches ago.
this, not sure how i can win by 10 then lose by 120 in the same day

Sam Walsh face is gone for some reason and has been replaced by this, kinda looks like newnes

Looking good was being nice. I've played football manager and NBA 2K My League for years. The mode would not be completely broken if got them basic things I said right atleast.

I've played a little more and TBH I think it's just the momentum system being a bit broken. If you've got a team disadvantage, when momentum kicks in you just can't do anything. Lose every hitout, players run the wrong direction leaving opponents to stream through the middle, and then end up in a marking contest that's impossible to defend in any way in the forward line. Rinse and repeat.

This was so close to being my favourite match, almost held the AI scoreless. Stuffed up in the final 30 seconds, ball went over the line at the wing, lost the ruck contest and couldn't regain control :(

While there have been no updates since Friday, the game is playing slightly different for me.... both yesterday and today. I'm noticing the 360 spinning move being done more often. But also intercepts are happening a lot more frequently just as they were nearly 2 weeks ago.

It's bizarre!

I will never understand how this could be fun. Surely a close match is more fun..? Each to their own though. Congrats on the win.

I like thrashing teams more than close games, normally if they're close I'll lose :( :p
Like I recently said, I like playing sports games and if I'm whitewashing the AI ? oh well whether it's a thrashing in Fifa, NBA 2K (rare but still), Madden.. I'll take it!

I like to see HOW much I can win by, that's where the challenge lies. And has been from AFL game to AFL game once you learn the timings of the AI. Evolution 1 & 2 were still fun for me, even when winning by 2-300+ points (depending on the quarter length). Being able to set challenges for myself (like a 20 goal head start for the AI) and see if I can still win is also fun.

I let the AI get a 5 goal head start during a match last night, ended up smashing them. In recent weeks, if the AI get the jump on me, I've lost. So I think I've turned the corner with the AI being too tough on me (will still likely lose from time to time).
