From this tweet, perhaps, there won't be a AFL 25.

Releasing an AFL 25 would've been one of the most misguided things they could attempt. In my opinion they are still very much in debt to the people that actually bought AFL 23 two years ago, in that it's only just barely made it to the point it should have been either on release or within a few months.

Releasing a new one and telling everyone they need to get that to get the properly functional experience would've just been a final nugget on top of the shit mountain they we purchased. They already did it with Don Bradman 17 and that really pissed me off at the time, so I'm glad they're committed to improving what is already out there.

Only thing I'd be happy about for a new release would be a better management mode. Started playing nba 2k25, first one I've played in 10 years, and the presentation and crowd noise are 2 massive factors that AFL really needs to nail. I understand budget differences but man, get some screen shaking and genuine roar going, and just pump it up. The tension is real in 2k, in afl it feels like a training session when it's a GF

Thought Evolution 2 management mode was more advanced then AFL23.

Much more options and I think I got the sack from the team I was managing..

I know it's not the main priority but it's wild to me that single man dev teams like the afl coach game can make pretty bloody decent manager modes and a full dev team can't.

Like it isn't much extra work to implement half decent trading and drafting logic, it's like the dev in charge of that has no idea about afl. Truly don't understand it and has been the same in every afl game ever.

Just contract it out to one of those guys who's done it before ffs, can't tell me it won't pay for itself

No idea but I’d suggest it’s because they’re apparently re-releasing AFL23 this year with a bunch of ProTeam stuff.
According to Twistie anyways. Who knows how accurate this is

Anyone played around with the update yet ?
Is there any likeness updates ? Player ratings ?
Or purely just players changing clubs ?
Had a suss at lunch today - I think it's literally just players changing clubs. Hawks have Battle and Barrass. No draftees in the game that I could see - Richmond only had 36 players and none of Hawks newbies are there. I can't say anyone from Hawthorn looks remotely different except maybe James Blanck? Still 23/24 kits

Gee that’s poor
I’d hope they have something in the works

Came across this on X. ‘Would be inferior to existing player models”

What a stupid illogical reason for not having the draftees. As there are already numerous players on each team that have generic models. Nothing more than a poor, misinformed excuse made up on the spot by an intern, with probably no idea about the game.

Yeah makes no sense. Jasper Scaife at Hawthorn is legit just a tall bald generic
model

If they were truly worried about parts of the game being inferior this thing wouldn't have hit shelves until last year.

The man is an excuse factory, excuses which fall apart under any kind of minor scrutiny.
