WHEN CAN I PLAY? READ BELOW:
  • PlayStation (Physical): Thursday 4 May
  • PlayStation (Digital): 8:01am AEST Thursday 4 May
  • Steam: Currently 8:01am AEST Thursday 4 May, may be moved to 12:01am AEST
  • Xbox (Digital or Physical): TO BE CONFIRMED, unlikely to be 4 May

Those that pre-ordered PS versions will be able to play on Thursday, disks will have already been mailed by retailers, they will also be available in-store.

Steam will also be available Thursday.

Stating the obvious, we are still having issues with XBox.

Seriously, anyone that looks hard knows there’s issues - why do you think there are so many exclusives for a particular platform that are not marked as exclusive, but are only on that platform.

If I took that road, life would have been a lot easier.

Xbox digital and retail will release at the same time - that is not a decision we get to make.

It applies now and I will no doubt pay a price.

Re: commentary team
Hamish is still there, Daisy didn't make it into the final version of the game.

We added Gary and increased the workload of Harf.

Re: game availability/release dates
I can never give 100% guarantee about anything in the future, but as it stands today, the statement I am prepared to make it that all stock that is at retailers on 4 May will be available for sale.

As to the amount that will be there for sale, and whether it is enough, that is a question I cannot answer.

It will be made digitally available on the various platform holder electronic stores.

Clarifying, the game will not release prior to 4 May 2023.

I am vague as there is one platform that has had sufficient stock at retailers and the other has not, and I cannot name them (contractual reasons).

The game will not be further delayed because of the numbers of units in stock.

Re: Steam listing
I've already put in a request for the screenshots to be replaced with current ones, they'll probably only be there for a day.

As much as the feedback has generally been positive, these are old, meant to be placeholder only and were not meant to go live.

Re: playing lists
All playing lists are accurate for the 2023 season.

Re: content creator footage
This is all prior to day one patch (as some have noted updates like numbers etc are apparent)

Re: Career mode
A head's up on Career mode.

At the AFL 23 Launch night I mentioned the non-team based Individual Career Mode in an interview with Dean (Twistie3). As alluded to at that same event, we were working with the AFL and AFLPA to include as many past legends in the game as possible.

The great news is that we have received approval for far more AFL legends than were previously envisaged, but this has meant that we had to make the tough decision to divert resources away from the Individual Career mode development. The individual Career Mode function will not make it into AFL 23, Career Mode will be entirely team based. I expect this mode to be include in future iterations of the game.

Re: microtransactions
You do not have to make purchases, things can be earned.

Re: general development
So fundamentally flawed, in so many ways, it’s bananas.

We are doing AFL as it’s a passion project, without us doing it there would not be one being made.

So much more upside with making games that are played internationally, let alone one that will not even be played in every state in this country.

Seems as though they mean the lower levels aren't in career mode, should still be there for single match and presumably season mode as well.
So ur saying they wont be there in the mode theyre most nessacary for- aka how often will someone play them in a quick match vs how often will they be used in a career to know who to pick in the ones and draft in mid season draft and all that as well as the fact that people use them when trying to go from low to high as a coach

I don’t understand why state leagues have been this big mystery that we’ve had to search the internet for clues, just tell us outright if they’re in there or not

This article would imply they’re not but the YouTube vid shared earlier states outright that they are 🤔
I think the article implies they are there. It says all AFL and AFLW players have been scanned but not all players have been scanned implying there are players other than AFL and AFLW.

Its almost like they were able to get a tiny shipment of Xbox copies and the rest of the stock is stuck in transit or still being produced. I work in the yard of a plastics factory and whilst it’s not the same, a lot of the same principles apply.

We’ve had to jack our prices up because of how hard it is to find raw material due to production AND shipping problems. Can normally deal with one but not both. We are back ordered about 2 weeks which is HUGE in an industry where people need product day of order.

We are also severely understaffed, meaning making our product takes forever too.

Assuming all the same problems are occurring for Xbox, and suppliers never like to put exact dates on ETAs because of how volatile shipping is.

We’ve had a smaller customer waiting on product for weeks, whilst we prioritize larger customers willing to splash around a bit more coin. Reckon same goes for Big Ant.

Triple A games will always get first dibs at new disks and shipping, indie games get shunned.

I reckon the best comparison to make with management mode is what 2K do on their NBA games in “MyNBA.”

Admittedly, his situation is a bit different. Didn't he retire then come back?

It is, but some of the other likenessess have been off and just today Ross has mentioned they'll have to be fixed.

Just find that to be a more realistic scenario at this stage than state leagues.

Of course, all this could be cleared up with a straightforward, definitive answer, but that's not the Big Ant way.

FINALLY!!! Someone that actually gets what the issue might more likely be!

I had ordered some new glasses 3-4 weeks ago and only just yesterday ended up collecting the order. The store I got the glasses from sent an email about the reason... issues from the manufacturer - granted I did receive a sorry voucher when I picked it up. But this is something that's happening everywhere.

It's hard for me to fathom retailers holding release back due to stock levels. Surely you'd want to sell through what you have now, rather than hold stock in the backrooms of stores for 6 weeks, even if it's minimal levels.

Yep.

There's absolutely no evidence there is any Xbox stock in Australia. Quite the opposite when both EB and JB are saying it'll be a June release.

It contradicts the comment about saying there would be no delays regardless of how many copies were available. If that is accurate if copies had arrived they would have had to release to customers and launch on digital store then.

I bought a PS5.

I’m now extra sad because I didn’t play hogwarts for a month as I was going to get it and this game on my old Xbox when they both released.

I could have been a Wizard a month ago!

On the contrary, can experience both games in 4K. That’s exciting!

You do know I said the sky and trees made me realise it's not real...
Apologies mate, wrong quote. Was meant to quote the original poster who mentioned the surrounds.
