Re: Afl canberra part 3

Can anyone tell me the last time a reigning premier missed out on the finals the following season??

Speaking of Belconnen, can anyone confirm the rumour that Read & Raatds had a falling out and the big guy didn't want to play under Bubba hence why he spent so long in the 2's.....and it was only after all the injuries began to pile up that Read was forced to ask the big guy to play ones??

Re: Afl canberra part 3

business end of the year and teams being riddled with injuries has been a popular talking point on this forum. All teams injury free after round 18? Anyone got any tips for the finals series?

Re: Afl canberra part 3

Any tips on who's in line for the clubs' B&F?

Qbn's will come from Conroy, Daniher, Quade or Kav with my tip being Conroy.

Good luck to all 3 Qbn grades in the finals, I am away and wont get back until GF week. Hopefully I get to see some black & gold on that last day.

Jack distilery tour here we come!

Re: Afl canberra part 3

Has anyone got reports from the weekends matches? Some ugly footy with the conditions. Tip for Eastlake and the Swans?

I think ABH has it nailed it with Conroy at the Yellow & Blacks, Eastlake and Belconnen will be hard to find IMO, players at both clubs seem very even and then through in Belconnen injuries, McNeill at Sydney, Crook at Ainslie, and I haven't seen enough of Tugg to make a judgement.

Re: Afl canberra part 3

Wow I expected a bit more activity on here while I was gone considering its finals time.

Congrats to Ainslie and Eastlake, should be a good close game.

Good luck to Pav and his Super 2's.

Not sure who else is playing TBH as I only touched down today.

Let me say its lucky Louisville, Nashville and Lynchburg have plenty of JD!!

Cracking week...just like a footy trip!!

Re: Afl canberra part 3

Mulrooney medal tonight. Has anyone got a tip? I'm thinking maybe McNeil from Sydney. Crook will poll well in the 2nd half of the season. Do you think it will be close like last year?

Also, early in the week. Ainslie v Eastlake, who will win?

Havent seen much of the other sides elong so I am having to tip Conroy. He is a ball magnet who generally sets up alot of Tiger attacks.

As for Tri's v Dees....experience counts on the big stage and after coming so close last year I think the tricolours might take it in a thriller. I expect the likes of Shirley, Inkster to step up when it matters most.

Could even be a draw!

Ainslie by minimum 10 goals!

Re: Afl canberra part 3

Just thought I would jump on and clear some mumours regarding the ACT4GWS campaign.

Its being funded by the local ACT organisations in particular the licensed clubs and not the AFL or GWS.

GWS playing 40 games in Canberra is not a done deal. The GWS board will sit down at the end of the campaign and way up the results to see if it financially viable to move games from Sydney.

We require 5000 registrations to show our support behind the venture and with 3000 registered participants in AFL it will take 1 family member from that player to achieve our goal.

If we compare it to the baseball campaign of which there is less interest they achieved their 5000 pledges. If we cant beat that then we only have ourselves to blame.

If we achieve our 5000 pledges then it will send a clear message to ACT Government who are a key player in what occurs next and the GWS.

GWS are offering a 10 year deal.

The $50 will be used as a down payment to a membership offer in 2012. If the campaign is not a success your money is refunded.

There is also no gaurantee that GWS will compete in out competition beyond 2011 as they will look to see where they can best build a supporter base, so the 5000 pledges is vitally important.

GWS have signed 5 boys from the Riverina and our very own Josh Bruce so the side will have a local flavour to it and due the their draft concessions they will have to be a reasonable side.

With 15 days left and 2689 pledges we have alot of work still to do.

Lets get behind this so Canberra can continue to see the best footy played on a regular basis.

Re: Afl canberra part 3

Great night if your a Tiger.

U/18 was won by Jake Oram from Qbn with 18 votes with Ryan Price also from Qbn in 2nd with 15 votes.

Reserves was won by Dennis Quade from Qbn and Shaun Ellis from Tuggers with 12 votes each.

1sts was won by Mitch Daniher from Qbn with 17 votes followed by Shirley and Crook with 16.

Great effort by Mitch to go back to back, trying to cast my ageing memory back to the last back to back winner....was it Steve Wilson from Eastlake??
