Cyril doesn't need stats, watch the game he is immense whenever he's near the footy.
Edwards has become our smartest ball user forward of the wing no doubt and his hands are something else but he doesn't strike fear into the opposition like Cyril does when he's near the footy.

Fear ? Who are you Bruce Mcavaney?

Goal Assists:
13 Cyril Rioli (2nd best in the AFL)
6 Shane Edwards (52nd best in the AFL)

Score involvements:
68 Cyril Rioli (12th best in the AFL)
47 Shane Edwards (92nd best in the AFL)

Tackles inside fifty:
15 Cyril Rioli (8th best in the AFL)
8 Shane Edwards (54th best in the AFL)

Goals plus Assists:
25 Cyril Rioli (15th best in the AFL)
12 Shane Edwards (82nd best in the AFL)

He gets tackles inside fifty because he isn't good enough to play in the middle of the ground.

Don't do this to me tiger fans. Look, Edwards is a good player, and his handballing is great. He's become as important to Richmond's midfield as Cotchin, Deledio, Miles, Martin and Ellis are. He's not the dud that people used to think he was.

But Rioli is a more skilled player with more output. If Rioli stayed fit every season people wouldn't bag him so much.

Output?

What output?

disposals, tackles, marks. contested possessions, uncontested possessions, centre clearances its all Edwards

Different roles mate, Rioli is in the top shelf of players that play the same role, Edwards has plenty of other Midfielders ahead of him.

Is Edwards a better player than Rance because he isn't good enough to get a game in the midfield?

What I am saying is if Rioli is such a great goalkicker, why dosnt he kick more goals.

He sure isn't being trusted to play on the ball, that's for sure

I am comparing them because they are of a similar age, weight and height and have a similar number of games

They are also both indigenous and while one is a media darling ( Rioli ) the other ( Edwards ) has been flying under the radar and has been IMHO a more effective and a more reliable footballer.

Goals, goal assists, pressure acts, disposal efficiency, one percenters etc.

ability?

ability to actually get the ball ?
in a contest ?
Outside a contest ?

impact on games?

Have you actually ever watched Shane Edwards play? Because it doesn't sound like it

Dude, don't do this. Rioli is the definition of an impact player and has been for his whole career, Edwards has really only become a gun in the past two years or so.

I generally accept that eddie betts is a more prolific scorer than cyril roil, but adelaide really needed some impact in the last quarter on saturday, and though eddie provided plent of effort, he didnt provide the impact cyril or even shane might have

impact player must mean, doesn't get it much as far as Cyril goes.

Dangerfield is an impact player, so is Fyfe, it doesn't stop them getting the ball 30 times a game
