They don't have 19, they traded it for CCJ.

I wouldn't be giving anything back with JHF anyway. Adelaide offered 2021 pick 4, 2022 pick 3 (aside stands), 2022 Pick 17 (Melb) for JHF and 19.

17 and 18 cancel each other out. If Adelaide want JHF straight up they can give 3 and a 2023 1st, which is essentially what they offered last year.

Was using 19 under the assumption thats where a PP would land.

He's contracted, an SA local, a position of need for Adelaide and the number 1 pick less than 10 months ago.

Not to mention Adelaide offered that deal 12 months ago essentially. Norf being a dumpster fire won't affect his value Adelaide will back in the fact he is gonna be happy back home and see his performances improve.

Maybe add McAsey to the deal for a future 3rd or something as Norf need KPF players as a flyer.
I’m providing my opinion on what I think is fair value, I don’t actually think norf accept just pick 3. I will say that the fact he’s a previous pick 1 is a sunk cost and shouldn’t be a factor (it will be). Adelaide’s previous offer shouldn’t be relevant, however his form and behaviour should be.

Norf might be smarter to accept a high offer this year if they reckon he’s out the door in 2023 as they’ll have far less leverage and if his unhappy his form may dwindle.

Interesting considering how many talls we have on the list currently Cal Twomey thinks if Cadmans still on the board at our pick we just have to draft him?
Admittedly he thinks he’ll be gone by then though.

reckon the crows are counting their blessings that was turned down now.

Why wouldn't we draft a natural, highly talented key forward? It's one of our most pressing needs despite the who ha on an NGA kid currently playing in defence, a 20 year old, who despite showing reasonable signs is still very speculative and a 28 year what feels like journeyman who has just returned.

Ive been a big big advocate of a key forward. I know the popular opinion is to back in what we have but what if Baldwin doesn't make it? We'll have kept a then 29 year old Stewart, a not making it Baldwin and a year old Wright with Jones also likely but no depth developing

im not sure JHF still lands a gun like Rachele, plus a top 3 pick.
Well it wouldn’t be a top 3 pick, we haven’t seen close to JHF best talents this year, mainly due to him being a north Melbourne. He’s going to be a generational player believe that, I’d still take JHF over Rachele and whatever pick Adelaide end up with this year (likely 4-5).

Not much talk about Phillipou for us. Is he not the type we are desperately crying out for?
Would be stoked to grab phillipou, he has the potential to be a bontompelli type of player or at worst Langford.

Feel as though Adelaide will take him at pick 4, and even if they didn’t I don’t have confidence that dodoro will take him over a cadman/Clarke/McKenzie.

I’d say clark wouldn’t be high on our board over other options. A 180cm mid wouldn’t be part of our planning after taking Hobbs last year.

As much as I hope you’re right, I can see his leadership qualities and relentless pressure at the ball being a huge temptation for dodoro to take him.
When you listen to all player interviews they constantly say that is the what Essendon wants to pride themselves on so wouldn’t it make sense to draft someone that has made a name for himself playing the same style that we want to play?
After all did we really need a Hobbs type of player with our first pick last year? But we still took him anyway (I’m not upset about it).

Given Ashcroft has officially nominated Brisbane it’s now time to work on a mutually beneficial deal to get them more points and for us to improve our position.

They should, why give Brisbane a freebie if Ashcroft is clearly the best player in the draft?
Oh I agree they should, however there was a lot of talk around JHF/Daicos last year and the overarching theme of those conversations were that North wanted the prestige of having "the number one pick" instead of making Collingwood pay top dollar. This was largely due to last year was the first time ever that they had the number one pick.

Given this is now their second "No. 1" pick I wonder if that'll be a factor this year or whether they'll actually bid on Ashcroft or not.

That Brisbane pick is going to be a hotly contested commodity.

They are likely going to get a pretty good deal there.

They can also bid for Ashcroft at 1 and take whoever they want at 2 (Sheezel, Cadman, whoever) without being accused of reaching with the first overall pick.

I think it was less clear that Daicos was the best last year, enough so that taking JHF at #1 wasn't seen as a reach, plus the whole promo thing (which is BS anyway). This year it's Ashcroft then daylight, sounds like Wardlaw could have been a genuine contender but injuries curtailed that.

If I'm North I'd be bidding on Ashcroft and seeing whether I can turn #2 in to something more useful. Wardlaw at #2 doesn't really give them what they need, Sheezel might be more appealing, then any of the KPPs would be a reach at #2, so would someone with a pick inside the Top-10 be keen to slide up the board?

I feel strongly that Adelaide should lose draft picks for bringing the game into disrepute. I would hope essendon ask the question of the afl as I still feel it is an injustice how our club was treated on very flimsy evidence.
it would also make our first round pick more valuable and prohibit Adelaide from having the draft capital for trading!
