Eh, the guy's made his bet. None of us know his financial situation, so why spur him on to a larger bet? Why should the guy have to fork out hundreds of dollars just coz he was bullied into it by a couple of guys he doesn't know on a forum?

I know he seems a bit self-reightous or whatever, but if everyone on the whole forum was ganging up on me, I'm sure I'd react similarly, as would most of you.

Why not just stop harrassing theone, as well as LH, let them make their private bet, and start talking footy again.

I'm also very interested in Heath Shaw but if i got him I wouldn't be able to afford McPhee and would have to settle for someone like Wirrpunda.

So what would be the better combination H. Shaw and D. Wirrpunda or McPhee and Gilbee? At the moment I'm leaning towards the latter.

my choice: mcphee gilbee. gilbee shoud go toe to toe with shaw and mcphee looks freed up with michael bradley and fletcher in the back 6.

yeah, i'd go the latter

Not sure if anyone else read it, but I thought it might possibly be of some use to someone.

afl.com.au released an article which was mainly Sam Mitchell saying that hawthorn played a different style of footy to what they normally do. he basically said they played a possession-heavy game, with lots of pointless kicks and marks, which we shouldn't expect to see again, and which the team will work on changing.

So... i think that might suggest some of the Hawthorn players which absolutely destroyed it in DT with easy possessions (Jacobs, Young etc.) are unlikely to have repeat performances this week.

That's just how I interpreted it though, and I didn't get to watch the game, so I'm not sure if those "easy possession" were a major factor.

Something to factor in nonetheless.

I have Birchall and Franklin; I think Birchall will get his touches regardless and Franklin was alright and cheap, we'll see what happens.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention Nighthawk.

same here , im happy with birchall for a while but franklin will have to prove himself

okay lets get this back on track.

my main HUGE point taken from round 1.
far too many ppl have decided only 2 rucks means you can take a cheapie in and still go okay. hudson doesnt look up to it, griffen did well but still scored low and darcy is a dedcoy target really to let the johnson circus take place.

2 top tier ruckman are NEEDED this year. i have everitt and regretting it already. hate to think what ppl are thinking who have hudson on the park.

I have Everitt and Darcy. I'm not sure what I was thinking really. Sydney have Jolley and WB have Minson.

Am going to try free up some cash (not sure how) and get Sandilands.

Dont really understand that reasoning.

Im not neccessarily disagreeing.

But what if having a cheap ruckman means you have a better foward, meaning overall you score more.

i just can't see hudson ever getting more than 40 on a consistent basis. griffen looked okay and darcy didnt really see coz 7's telecast kept cutting off etc (on a side note did anyone in perth have this problem?? sound breaking up and pixelated telecast?? annoying as hell) i think the extra 100 grand on another quality ruckman is better than the 20 grand pr player you are gonna throw around.

but to each their own :thumbsu: don;t wanna waste trads early on, esp with mclean going down but will be watching spida closely before round 3

Yep go that, unfortunately after Sandilands and trying to pump up other parts of the field, the only second tier option was Cam Mooney for me. I think youre right though, having a Cox or a Lade as well as Sandilands would be a BIG help.

Finally some logic coming out of someones mouth on this thread.
It does not suprise me that it is coming from you either nighthawk.
After all, you are a Bomber man. :D :D :D

Just to let you know, i am the last person to get bullied into anything.
95% of these people post one-liners trying to spur on some huge wager when they are not only rookies at the game but they are also too weak to make any bet themselves.
My $20 bet will stand with Hodgey but if any other one of you kids wants to take up that exact same offer with me then i am all for it.

Im pretty sure i will finish ahead of you, but i have no reason to have a bet with you. Seem like a decent enough poster, just cocky and there is nothing wrong with that!

Yeah i had the same problem, ended up watching it delayed on Fox Sports. And about the ruckmen i think ill try and free up some money and then get Lade or Cox because you can't go the whole year relying on 2nd tier ruckmen in your 22...But atm the top ruckmen are too expensive so imo a player like Hudson will do for now.

If Round 1 is anything to go by then you are definitely right.
But i am going to have to disagree here for two reasons.

1) We have only seen one performance from Hudson, Darcy and the like, and considering the fact that they are both returning from serious injuries, they could start improving gradually or dramatically over the next few weeks.

2) The reason why i have picked one cheap ruckmen to start for me is because there were a large amount of cheap pick-ups in the ruck department and i did not want to waste that opportunity which is the reason why i picked three.

i agree. not trying to start a flame theone, but your team aint that great.

doogs not good, hudson terrible, waters will possibly miss 6-8 weeks this year for the head contact law brought in just for him. burtons hammys are one wrong lead away from snaping again and haselby hasnt exatcly been the definition of fit for a few years. you may get your "elite" team as you call it with trades, but your gonna need alot of luck too

With Everitt, I didn't get to watch the game, but I heard he didn't get much gametime, and that they played Jolly for most of the time instead. Doesn't seem to make much sense to me, but my guess would be that Sydney are trying to keep a team similar to the one they've had over the past 2 years, in an attempt to duplicate their success.

But I have a feeling that as the season progresses, or maybe even as soon as next week, the team will play Everitt more than they did last week, and he will make his way into the number 1 ruckman spot. It might just take time for Everitt to get a feel for the very unique style the Swans play.

Fair enough.
If you are "pretty sure" you will finish ahead of me then it could be an easy $20 coming your way???
The decision lies with you though.
I just want to shove it up these young, amateur-like posters who score 1850 or higher in the first few rounds as they think that they are the real deal...

So... there were problems in the telecast in both Melbourne and WA?

Sydney was fine.

My Rucks situation - None what so ever :) Decided to just have a no risk ruck system, although it kinda backfired with Cox being injured with no reserve haha.

Cox
Sandilands

Hudson, Griffen

Griffen is guranteed the first 6 rounds with Messen and Maric out, serious cash there, with probably an average of 40.

Hudson will probably be there for a while until i will probably downgrade him in rd 12 and then upgrade a middle tier.

yes i was thinking that, sydney seem to play a vastly different game against the eagles and many of the players struggle to DT stats. eg hall.

my thinking is they will try to stretch opponents defence with spida, hall, micky mac, okeefe etc all running rampant. but i thought spida would take most of the taps as he is known as a tap specialist and they are the stop start team of the comp
