For those still undecided on mids and fwds there's a cpl to at least think about that are unique picks...both are 5th/6th yr players, both midfield types and both well priced.

Have another look at Wells' season last yr and take out the cpl of games where he got injured...then check his avge again. We've all wondered if he'll finall do something and he's due. Very fit apparantly.

Long shot for a step up but nicely positioned in the fwds as a rogue punt is our old mate Colon Sylvia. Will it be this yr he stops running the square and actually gets involved ?

4th -6th yr mids are prime rib normally if reasonably priced. Both have disappointed obviously (not so much Wells) but for those looking for a wildman punt they are worth checking out as value.

First thing I would suggest.

Trade Kane Cornes for Nick Stevens.
Trade Bartel to someone cheaper. (A Cross or a Stanton or a Thompson)
Trade down Lade to someone else - anyone else.

Then, spend that money on your backs!
Upgrade Morris, Glass and Myers if possible.

Also note.
Myers, Rance, Crotchin - These guys aren't gunna get a game.

Just throwing a name up there. How do people rate Jarryd Roughead, his cheap (220k) and is listed as a back or forward.

I have heard he has trouble kicking straight (goal kicking) and is a dt gun when he plays down back so it will be interesting to see where Hawks use him (hopefully down back).

He also had a good game on the weekend (Box Hill) playing as a backman.

Honestly, I can't see who he's going to squeeze out of the line-up.

I'm thinking a couple of weeks in the reserves, before an early-mid year call up to replace injuries.

3 rookies starting on the field and one of them isn't even assured of a spot...what is the point of a strategy like this? If a couple of your guns have down games you're stuffed.

i am inclined to pick ottens based on form at the end of last year...to me ottens seems a much better pick saving 80k

dont understand how masten can start ahead of macnamara. masten hasnt played a preseason match against afl footballers. the give or take 40 possesion game he had was an intra club match for a sanfl team.

The point is to make more cash base than the guy without the 3 rookies...

And at the same time, A gun has a high average for a reason. Because you expect him to average high.

If you have a number of players of any value that play below average, you're stuff. No matter if they are a gun or not...

Yes that is the game, I personally think McNamara will play before Masten.

It was also a WAFL game not SANFL.
