I have been reading these forums the past week, and yes there is a lot of gibberish to sift through and yes some people ask stupid questions. However I dare say you were not all great to begin with and half of you are not as great as you make yourself seem to be. Don't get me wrong, a good flame when it is deserved should be administered, however don't forget some people do genuinely want some advice and it shouldn't hurt to give it to them. Of course you don't need to share your secrets, however sharing a few players you think could do well (you might not even pick them all) will not cost you anything in terms of league position. A n00b can pick the same team as you, but he will not have the knowledge to further his team throughout the year and thats the difference. There should be less malice on these forums in my opinion.

Excellent point.

I said that about a page too late. Thats what you get for walking off half way through a post, my bad.

On to a DT related matter, I think Johncock is more than worth his 300k. I also think Murphy will be better than Davey.

Well yes, option 3 was neither!
My gut feeling is that Davey could rip it up and bring on more spectacular scores, while Murphy is possibly a safer, more conservative option. Will probably trade up to a Lucas with my new found cash supply!
Cheers for the feedback

Agreed.

Have you considered putting in Lucas right from the beginning and leaving him in for the season? I have a feeling that his price is likely to head more north than south.

i agree, essendon are playing fast attacking forward and thats good for dt scores...particually if ur the central forward (i feel he has replaced Lloyd)

Yes I'm leaning this way and I'm about to make some changes to my (Excel Spreadsheet!) team, the first of which will probably involve putting Lucas in my forwards, once there he is a definite set and forget player. Lucas minus Lloyd equals plenty of DT points.

Well foxsports said its just precaution, but Im not to sure, he had a serious neck injury that kept him out all last year, Im leaning towards dropping him now, maybe Schammer or higgens could be ok

alot of players returning from serious injuries do get a bit of general soreness and stiffness in their injured area after they have had a few hitouts
i am hoping it is only this and he hasn't reinjured it

Yeah same.
Mate just a question about some Pies, Pendlebury and Thomas- who in your opinion will get more heavily tagged, im leaning towards Thomas getting alot more attention this year

I feel like I've been swimming against a rip for last 10 minutes. Just read the last 20 odd pages and it's the worst I've seen on here. I've finally overcome the rip.

Quality posts begin from 11:00-11:30 onwards it seems. I'll see you the same tomorrow night guys. Quality stuff :thumbsu: and kudos for Happy_eagle for toiling so hard :D.

P.s. On the latest topics:
Nathan Jones - is he that good a pickup? He reminds me of Swallow and Harris at the Roos and that may be the reason I have an aversion to him. Both Harris and Swallow often don't rack up big scores due to the role they play. They rarely get the easy ball. If Hamish doesn't win it cleanly then they're in for a hard day dt wise.
I've spent that little bit more and gone with M Murphy.

Johncock - Played alongside Mcleod last year and we were told he would play a more rebounding role in and develop as the protege of Mcleod. That year he still negated quite a lot as he is a quality player. It's a similar problem for Mark McVeigh - he is so good in that role that they'd rather use someone slightly less effective for rebound - Welsh. I think now Mcleod has gone forward Johncock will play more defensive than ever.

Interested to know why there isn't much love for Dyson.

hard to say, however i got an inkling thomas will again spend a lot of time on a half forward flank corz its where he plays his best, so if thomas is in the middle and gets a tag he can go play forawrd whereas penders probably cant (not as effectively neway)
but then again penders was the most consistent player last year
both are fairly silky players and its near on impossible for me to pick atm between the 2

Wouldn't worry about Thomas getting tagged too much, flashy, but usually does JS with it. Most damage will come from Pendles, Swan, Didak and Cloke.

Cheers for the honesty mate.
Might go with me gut feeling and jump on Thomas, i reckon he'll be a very handy dt'er this year, plenty of marks, well i hope so anyway:eek:

This thread certainly does improve later at night.

Shhhhussshhhh, there is, but some are smart enough not to mention him in here.. :D

Well TBH ive never really posted alot, ive been reading this dt thread over the last couple of years and cant believe how bad it's got. There used to be some awesome posters, i think there EDT or something, who were good to listen to but now its just crap.
Oh well, what do ya do.

I was the same. EDT blokes who were always very informative and helpful (without giving away everything) found a new home in a private forum, away from all the bullshit that gets posted on here.

Cheers for the honesty mate.

I had him last season and didn't regret his selection. Wasn't there some talk on Collingwood board that Thomas might be given more time in the mid this season?
