Don't know why but I have a funny feeling that Sandi will have a big year. I really wish it would go away.

I've fallen into that trap twice before, and won't make that mistake again. The same could be said for Angus Monfries.

Anyway I can't decide wether to chuck out Hampson or Kreuzer for Wood on bench.

I only reason is that I have tooooooo may Caaaaarlton players.

Seeing as though some people are not starting the best ruckman Cox, what about arguabley the best DT forward Pavlich, what are people thoughts on him? He hasen't got the greatest scheduale to start with (Hawthorn and WC in the frist three rounds), potential will drop in price. Thoughts?

There certainly are niggling doubts at the top end:-

Chappy - Groin
Johnno - Age / Role Change
Riewoldt - Knee
SJ - Staying out of jail

For me it's the Pav, no doubts exist, hasn't missed a game for 100 years, he is just bullet proof.

No, but I keep lookiing at him, thinking hmmm, could he do better than Simmonds or not. I have not yet clicked that button and put him in, er yet. Just want to get away from that Cox/Simmonds combo that 90% of people will have.

Bones, isn't Wood a little expensive to have on the bench? Keep Hampson, he'll be a keeper, and should be a good earner by season's end, Kreuzer is a little less certain.

Oh, and Sandilands is my early call for 2nd best ruckman.

The difference is that Cox is the number one ruckman, no ifs no buts. Every other position is different, as you could quite easily leave out Pavlich for Brown, Chapman or Riewoldt. Personally only have Brown of those four, but all four are guns, don't worry about their price drops, etc, those aren't the sort of players you sell because of form slumps.

Indeed. another lazy footballer. The only positive thing with Sandi is that Harvey could have given him a kick up the ass this preseason and told him to lift his game or you're out.

I have taken some calculated risks with my team but sandi is one risk I'm not willing to take.

In my book its either him or Wood o), the money you save by picking Fraser, White or Ottens isnt enough to justify not getting Cox and so its either spend up big on Cox or save money and spend up big somewhere else.
Anyone thinking along the same lines? (Not the rude jokes)

I have a big Cox....you can have a big Woodie if you want but you want get the same respect unless you have a big Cox

but everyone by seasons end should have the top 2 ruckman, and in my opinion that will be ottens and cox

so starting with 1 is a priority, and trading the other one up from simmonds is what can be done.

Ottens isn't guaranteed to be #1/#2 ruckmen come Round 22...Cox is. Get on Cox and when its clear which Ruckmen are dominating, upgrade your 2nd ruck to him.


Thats what I'd do if I were in that situation...

1st time posting here, finished 268th last season so hopefully can add something usefull.

the recent talk seems to be about dean cox. sure he is a proven dream teamer but there are better options. personally i would be looking at guys like kosi ( providing he can stay injury free) and daniel gilmore who i am predicting to have a big season. also mark seaby is rapidly improving and will take more of the ruck mantle this year so cox will more likely float foward more which although it might increase his goals it will decrease the amount of ball he got behind play as the link up man.

Simmonds
I'm swinging like a pendulum, Simmonds and Wood looks weak but Cox and Simmonds looks pretty decent. Cox will start strongly against Brisbane and particularly Adelaide. Leaning towards Cox but cant decide how to fit him in, atm I'll need to cut 158k out of my team to fit him in if I trade up from Wood to Cox.

I'm not sold on Simmonds/Wood combo. You might be missing out on fair amount of points early on. why not go with something like Fraser/Simmonds, Ottens/Simmonds or McIntosh/Simmonds if Cox is out of the question? all 3 combos will make you money but also both should score well. Then again Simmonds/Wood combo will be unique
