You could be right, but Kings departure doesnt really have an influence. We can assume that Blake will play 22, as he would have last year if he didnt get dropped.

Ottens is just as injury prone as Cox as well if you are taking that into consideration.

Ottens has played nearly 50 home and away games in a row and has played 2 full 22 game seasons. So he defently isn't as injury-prone as Cox

cox has a higher durability rating then ottens
cox has played 87.6% of games since his debut (2001)
and ottens has played 85.9% since 1999

keeping in mind cox still had to battle with gardiner for the number 1 ruck mantle i think cox has been a lot more durable over that time

I know it's been touched on before regarding the sponsorship of this years Dream Team, but does anything have any idea or inkling with what's happening or what could have happened.

On the AFL front page we can "pre-register" for Dream Team and the Tipping comp this year and a certain bank has continued it's sponsorship of the Tipping this year and it is clearly advertised. Last year a certain drink sponsored Dream Team and when they released a feedback form after DT had concluded it asked the question "would you compete in a competition where extra trades could be gained through buying the sponsors product" or something to that effect, which would indicate that they were on board for this years competition.
The fact that said sponsor is not on the little 'pre-register' button would suggest that they have most likely dropped out this year and the AFL are desperately trying to find a substiture quick smart.

You'd have to assume that if there was a sponsor, no matter how little, and with the AFL whoring themselves to the sponsors that they would have their name plastered all over the Dream Team page already (similar to the Tipping comp page). Not saying there is, but one can suspect there are problems without being howled down by the masses.

Good point. But i'm sure an organised organisation like the AFL would have a sponsor for dream team by now.

You also have to remember that Ottens plays in the forward line alot more than Cox who gets his possies around the ground.
If the delivery aint good for the big fella (which it usually is however) he might struggle to compete with cox.
Cox is proven, if you dont have him you may well give away that 5 - 10 points if thats your thing. For me ill take my 5 - 10 points by spending a little extra, and not have to worry about changing ruckmen in the 5th or 6th round and using a valuable trade.

I wouldn't be concerned about that, they didn't have the sponsor name on the DT logo until it actually opened last year

Whats better out of the three then: a back, a ruck and a ruck sub.

Ellis, Cox, J.White

or

Hurn, Ottens, Hampson

taken into effect that I have simmonds on the field and he may not start round 1 where as Hampson should and i don't know if (and if he does he won't stay in their for more than 4 rounds) J.White will.

Trying to start some conversation here guys, how are people approaching the start of the season...?! Are people picking guns + cheap players or are they picking a more even side with less guns but alot less cheap players ?? I'm still soughta 50/50 on this one, I've got a more even side then a gun + cheap players side I think, just wondering what other people think about this issue....

You serious about that one? Maybe I am reading it wrong, but the first owns the second. If you're speaking salary cap wise, it changes, but purely points wise, then its a no brainer.

And I think most people will be playing few mid ranged players. I will probably start 2 rookies myself and have quite a few low priced, quite a few guns and a few punts (mid priced) that I think will take the next step, but there won't be a heap of those.

I have 7 mid range players (200-300) and 2 rookies starting (proud and armitage) because i feel if these players don't play one week my emergencys can back me up.

I have 11 guns as well so i am taking a 50/50 approach to this situation and 2 lower price players starting.

then 8 rookies/2nd or 3rd year cheap players on the bench.

He means Jesse White from Sydney, not Jeff White from Melbourne.

I have 3 rookies starting, the rest are guns/cash cows.

He was referring to J. White of Sydney, not J. White of Melbourne, but yeah, the first one is still better (even though Hampson is a necessity for mine).

I think there are good players at every price range, the difficult bit is fitting them all in. I think I've found a relatively good balance, lots of guns players mixed with mid pricers and a few smokies and cheapies.

Does anyone know about Jesse Smith's injury?
On the North Melbourne website it says 1-2 weeks so he may miss round one but that would probbably be all. I am considering him strongly and just wonna know if he will play or not?

Makes sense. I don't know how I overlooked that, just went with the familiar. I apologize.

I don't think its worth starting many mid priced. The fewer the better. You want to end up with as many guns as you can. If you think your mid priced are on the verge of turning into a gun, then by all means pick them. But if they are just filling up your team as an average player, they're a waste.

Not sure on the injury, but rest assured, if fit he'd play absolutely every game.

He won't play till round 3 so maybe if you want him wait till then pick Ellis and trade him round 3 (seeing as though ellis will probably go up to around 250+)
