I can kind of see why, at the end of my first season I was pondering if I wanted to keep going, of course I did and have done multiple seasons since then. MY main motivation (despite the challenge not always being present on Legend) was to aim for the undefeated season achievement AND the threepeat achievement. Something I had not been able to get when playing the rookie be a pro mode (as I always got injured or suspended during a season thus miss games that the team would lose without their best player aka me lol).

If either of them are glitched (which going by comments in the relevant threads on here and other forums) they might be impossible to get and thus there goes the motivation. I'm taking mini breaks of a few days up to a week or 2 so I don't get burned out. It's still fun to play and at this stage nearly 2 months on, it's a toss up between AFL Evolution or Injustice 2 as being my GOTY.

Just discovered a cool way to fast track my post patch pro player and levelup getting 155pts to train earning +6000xp points after each game.
1st get at least 2 season objectives that are close to achieving and fairly easy to achieve in a match. In my case it's drop punt kicks 40/42 +2900xp, and behinds 14/15 +2750xp. After completing both match and season objectives you will earn +6000xp and a minimum of 155pts. It is now important to see that your new season objectives have now changed, unless you simulate the next match but as soon as it shows the scores press ps button and close the application(game). When you now reload your pro save the season objectives would be back to the way they were heading into your previous match = punt kicks 40/42 +2900xp, and behinds 14/15 +2750xp.
Just repeat the steps after each game.
Works everytime and makes the small hassel being able to train up your pro easy as.

I don't necessarily think that a man-to-man style game is a bad thing at all, i personally prefer it to seeing 30 players trying to rugby scrum for the ball in the f50...

I suppose some people want that option though, to be able to play more obvious zones and so on...

It's also that players rarely get free. It is hard to play uncontested, possession football.

Seems that on higher difficulties it becomes a lot harder to draw the man too. My midfielders and forwards stick to their defender like glue when I have the ball. Drawing the man just draws my player in as well. So either handball early which gets intercepted roughly 100% of the time, or wait and handball just before getting tackled at which point the AI immediately 180's and tackles the receiver.

I am enjoying playing as my rookie character. He is on the wing as that and the half bank flank is where I usually played irl when I was actually able to play. What I have noticed is how you have to change how you play depending on the team you're on. For example at West Coast you could run a lot more aggressively forward from center bounces as Nic Nat wins the majority of hitouts. I'm at Carlton now and a lot of the clearances are now 50/50 which means I have to play as a defensive sweeper more often, and I'm getting significantly more rebounds from 50 which is kinda cool because setting up rebounds into attack is always exciting.

Am enjoying improving my ball movement, as a team and as my own player, the inconsistent marking is the only thing that is holding me back atm, perhaps I could get better at evasion too. Definitely an "outside" player on this, usually as an outlet handball/kick for teammates. Also I'm tending to spray shots on the run inside 50 still, however I can nail the barrel from outside 50 on the run more often than not.

Do agree with this. The man on man structures which mostly occur aren't really reflective of the modern game, I would love to be able to chip it around more but it isn't really feasible. You see it with the AI too, whenever they try and play possession football on the wing they usually end up kicking to a pack and turning it over with no effort required from me.

Self indulgent post incoming

Finished yet another career season, second (technically third) controlling the whole team. Made it through the season undefeated on Legend difficulty but no achievement popped, is it glitched or does the achievement want the JLT series undefeated as well (Going to assume it's glitched can't be arsed trying to win every game again lol).

Along the way I finally got the goal scoring achievement (took long enough considering how often I play the game!). And also the achievement for winning the brownlow medal in coach career (something I did do in my original play through but it never unlocked!). I think the only achievement I will aim for next is to lose the grand final, will do it on 2.5 minute quarters or something gradually.

Thought I would screen shot and post some of the matches I played toward the end of the season (basically resumed my progress from a month ago when I abandoned the coach career, to do the Rookie and then Listed player careers instead). The majority were low scoring games, not for the quarter length (alternated between 3.5 and 5 minutes depending on the opposition) BUT the fact a lot of the passages of play would get stopped at half back or full back then have to focus on defence to try and snuff out their attack.

The Swans match was insane, if it were a JLT/pre season game most of the goals scored would have been super goals because they were kicked outside 50 on the run or via set shots. Buddy and Hanners from Sydney were the 50m bomb wizards for Sydney. While Hodge, Cyril, Smith did most of the 50m bombs for Hawthorn. Tippet got man of the match haha.

Hodge got reported in the final round match v the Bulldogs (I remember it being a bump fest, but don't recall using Hodge to bump anyone). Had a 3 week suspension on the line.............. challenged it and the suspension no longer existed :D.

GWS were a tough match up as luck would have it I faced them 3 times... regular season, qualifying final and the grand final itself. Narrowly won the QF, in fact they marked and had a set shot after the final siren sounded....... and scored their only point for the quarter.

Smashed Melbourne in the prelim, Just put the foot to the floor and didn't let go. Well the third quarter was a blunder on my part. I was aiming for a score of 200.

High scoring grand final, managed to over power them in the final quarter.

Left over challenges ? Need to do 10 minute and 20 minute quarters to see how high I can get the total score. I assume I'd be about to get a score of 800.

Another testament to the attention to detail and just general random bullshit free kicks in this game. Still getting called for a throw half the time when you've got a clean handball away just before getting tackled, clearly a legal handpass because the free doesn't pop up until the tackle (and the ball is already at the next player). But I also discovered that those "throws" still count as handball stats.

My Match Objective to get a certain number of handballs was still counting up every time I got called for a throw after a fair handball. Which is it Wicked Witch, did I throw it or handball it?

I think a lot of people are missing the point. Actual AFL is inconsistently umpired to a set of baffling rules and terribly broadcast. It's a very accurate representation of our league.

Dunno what games everyone else wanted to play, the imaginary perfect football league evolution?
