Using old assets and songs from AFL live 2...

Made me realise..

This is a port of a Ps3/360 game which is a port of a Wii Game which is a port of an Android/ios game.

Good job AFL. I'm not even blaming wicked witch for this. Increase your budget next time !!!

I honestly think the Channel 7 interface looks much better and as a whole is one of the more impressive visuals for this game.

Just for a sec I actually wanna hear from people who are enjoying the game and the reasons why; it might help me enjoy it more too.

I certainly don't think it's amazing but I don't think it's crap either.

I do think there's a lot of hyperbole in the thread but the turnaround from "it actually seems alright, best AFL game yet" to "worst game ever" is quite astounding. WW would be having a torrid time reading all this

I got it yesterday arvo and played half a season as the Hawks in Manager Mode. This game has its faults, no doubt about that. But hey, it's the only AFL game we're going to get. I went in expecting the same quality as Live 2, and was pleasantly surprised when we got a AFL Live 1 with nicer graphics and a career. I'm playing on hard, and am really enjoying it. The kick to kick is a bit annoying, but hey, it beats the big loopy passes in Live 2 that would go 40 metres in the air just to travel 15 metres. It's a solid improvement on their last effort, and hopefully the AFL and Tru Blu see how many people actually bought the game (and disregard the return statistics) and can increase their funding from there. There's a lot of hate for this, and we all knew that would come. Lets be honest, how often does a game come out these days and the positive/negative is even or skewed towards postive? Horizon Zero Dawn and Zelda are probs the only ones within recent memory. I feel there are more people who go into this game hoping to and expecting to find a steaming pile of horse dung than actually looking for the fun parts or improvements that are quite clearly there in comparison to Live 2.

It's not bad, but it's not great, however it's the best AFL game we've got to date.

Only thing annoying for me is it's pretty much mark, kick to a contest, mark, kick to a contest. Not much space to work with but our game is very hard to turn into a video game.

Snapped a goal from the boundary which was very satisfying.

Try changing your tactics to fast and using end to end as our default view.

It made a huge difference to me.

After playing it solidly for a night personally I am really enjoying it, there need to be a few things fixed in a patch but I can't see that being too difficult.

Positives
- Handball chains feel really good, same when you burst away from a pack.
- When using end to end and the LB button I find I can either hit players on the lead to make my way up the ground or I can choose to play on quickly and run and gun the ball.
- I like the set shot mechanics
- It feels very satisfying when you get a centre clearance (Although they can be a bit of a cluster **** at times).
- The pace of the game isn't as broken as everyone says, I have had matches played at both break neck speed and really slow speed.
- Spoiling the ball became a lot easier in wet weather.

Negatives (Stuff to be patch hopefully)
- I am still struggling with contested marking, feels a tad random and very momentum based (If I get a mark or two with a player they start clunking them everywhere).
- Kick outs a very difficult, I have to torp it to the flank and hope for the best (Is there any way to make players loose?)
- CPU Goalkicking, They kick the rediculously hard shots but miss the easy ones every time.
- Interchange (Not playing be a pro until this is fixed).

All in all I still feel as if this is the best AFL game we have had and even more I think it can be vastly improved with a decent patch.

Pretty sure that is one of the two songs from AFL Live 1 - 'Last one's standing'. Heard it so many times I feel its implanted in my brain, Heck I've heard it so much I'm probably just imagining that it's that song.

It's from one of the games. That's for sure haha.

My review:

AFL Live 2 ported to PS4. Slightly better game play. Career mode, EXACTLY the same. Even managed to trade McEvoy for Gawn, with Melbourne chucking in a draft pick at the end of the 1st season.

Also Hawthorn rookie Connor Nash is not 28.

You people are never happy, seriously the game is not that bad, yes it has some bugs and problems but they can be fixed via a patch (hence why im not starting a career just yet). It most definitely is the best AFL game we have had to date and by far the smoothest as well, just appreciate the game for what it is and enjoy it like its meant to be enjoyed or go back to playing your old AFL games and STFU about it. As has been said time and time you cant expect FIFA and NBA 2k quality due to the different sizes of studios, not to mention that AFL is a very hard game to emulate in a game due to the many variations, just be thankful that we have something new to play which will improve over time with more work (patches). If you hate the game so much take it back, get a refund and leave the thread, too many people clogging the thread with nonsense.

What exactly is a grubbed goal. I thought it meant kick a goal with ball on ground? I think I'll just get a few trophies abc take it back.

I also wish there was a way to choose who your designated kicker from a behind is.... Danial Talia takes the odd kick in for the Crows, but there should be an option (like FIFA for penalties, corners etc) where you can select which of the defenders takes the kick

That should be able to be patched in surely?

They could have borrowed the code from the NES game slapped 2017 on it and I'd be sold on it!
