I reckon we can quit the pearl clutching about the difficulty of playing games away, we’re now a side demanding prime time, and it comes with the territory that we will be challenged to go up a level.

The coach and the players won’t want it any other way.

If it eventuates(a harder draw) that’s because we’re no longer irrelevant, so enjoy that we’re no longer being scheduled at 3:20 on a Sunday and that our season will be defined by how we handle it.

Absolutely. We may need to improve 10% to hold our ground in 2025, but it will hold us in good stead for future finals series. It certainly is good to be back.

Find it funny the AFL coming out and whacking Hinkley with a fine for what he did - yet will freely use that moment as a marketing tool to promote that game 😂

Fwiw fk Ken but it is ironic.

Can the AFL pls for once get the fixturing of the rounds before and after the Easter Monday game right for once also. Recall last year Collingwood playing the Thursday night, us playing Easter Monday and then playing each other in gather round. Same thing going to give the cats a leg up this year
Yup, AFL fine him and say it's not a good look and they don't want it happening. But then use it to promote the game. So either it's a good look and great for engagement for coaches to openly sledge players after a loss, or it isn't. I think it's a bad look as it was petty and the scoreboard was doing all the sledging that was needed anyway.

Not sure I understand the people upset with playing away against port for Gather round. If EVERYONE is playing in Adelaide you might as well kill one of your away games against them with that trip.

I'd much rather play Adelaide or Port away in Gather round which we need to do at some point in the season anyway than play a "home" game against Collingwood And then have to go back again to play Adelaide and Port as an away team.

For sure. Should have been Fri night though, following a big Fri night v someone at the g. Carlton?

A tough draw hardens you up for finals. We are not just here to make finals after all. Bring it
If you get there. The margins between teams has never been closer and this is a disadvantage compared to other sides fighting for the 8.

People that say playing Port on Gather round is a good thing because we get the interstate trip out of the way, really dismiss some key aspects in all of this.

Whilst almost everyone else is playing this ‘extra 12th home/away game” at a neutral ground, irrespective of whether they are named as the home team or not, we are playing an extra genuine AWAY match interstate. 7.20pm on a Sunday evening, yeah not as many will trek across from VIC.

The rest of the season is based on everyone playing 11 home and 11 away games. Like always (except for the Roos and WA teams).

Sorry just had to get it straight.

When we also get Brisbane away this year, you might better understand it.

Nah, anywhere, anytime. I don't think the playing group cares and if I was playing neither would I. We r not scared of anyone. We lose, we were beaten on the day by a better side. We learn and come back harder. Thats how you build champion teams. Losing games is building your resilience and hardness. Don't let fear of inequities guide you. You spend too much time dwelling on things and having chips on shoulders. Let's just win. No excuses.

Has nothing to do with marque games. Straight over the head. Woosh

Sure the players will play anyone at any time. That is their job.

And it has nothing to do with fear but plenty to do with inequalities. Acting with bravado doesn’t change a thing.

If we are good enough it won't matter but like you say when you are in the pack it can be 4 points between 5th and 10th.

A fast start would be a nice change. We are going to have to do it the HARDWAY.

It's not acting with bravado. Your explanations of these inequalities are based in fear that we won't be good enough. You play the team you are fixtured you either beat them or you lose. It's part of competition. If you get a leg up during the year. You get found out at finals time. Its why Geelong took 10 years to win a bloody cup after being up for so long. They just weren't good enough. Either you are or you are not there are no second places we are not here to be perennial finalists. We probably will never be anyway. We want to win cups and that is the way we have done it every time.

Don't care who we play or where, as long as we hit the ground running and not be as sluggish as we've been in the past two years in our starts to the season. Oppo should be the ones who are worried about crossing the Hawks not the other way around.

The silver lining to any poor form in 2025 is that the demographic of the list will still be so young that you could pretty much bet your house on it being a momentary blip.

An away game is any game not at the MCG or UTAS I don't care if it's nuetral we still had to travel and play on a foreign ground. We will not be playing Port away twice. And we will not be playing against Collingwood away either.

So while we still have 11 home and 11 away + gather round, we will not play 3x H&A games in Adelaide like we did this year, we will play 2 maximum.

Last year we played collingwood twice but only once at MCG. Be nice for that to be 2x MCG games.
