They’ve got the previous seasons wooden spooners in the last round at home back to back seasons now.
They get looked after by headquarters every year

analysis per The Age:
Games against top eight: 10
Top four: 4
Bottom four: 5
Play twice: Carlton, Port Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Collingwood, Adelaide
Byes: Rounds 4, 15
Games at the MCG: 10
Thursday night games: 3
Friday night games: 4
What’s good: The night Hawks. Nine of the 16 games that have timeslots so far are night matches, and 10 of the 16 are on Channel Seven – free-to-air coverage is far more lucrative for sponsors. They won’t shudder at playing any of the teams they have drawn twice.
What’s bad: They play Adelaide twice as a bottom-four team, but they were the best of the bottom four. Sydney at the SCG, Essendon, Carlton, GWS (in Tasmania), Port (away) and Geelong at the ’G, with a bye thrown in, is a tough opening to the season.

Given we play Port and Brisbane twice that would 6 games against the top 4

Do you think the AFL's worried it might have been crowd violence at a Hawks v Port game at the MCG? I think many supporters would have liked to have rocked up to this game.

Brisbane Port Collingwood Carlton Melbourne and Adelaide are the double up matches

IMO, this is not as difficult fixture for Hawthorn as it looks.

Carlton I think could be bottom 6, they really didn't improve their team this year and this year they finished like a bottom 4 team.

Next season they have a even easier fixture, they'll be all softened up having to play these easier teams and then they'll get smashed by the better teams and they'll wonder why. I think Sam and the group will relish at the thought of having to play them twice so we can grab their early picks.

I feel like Port, Collingwood and Melbourne will be in the same boat next sesson. Mid-to-good teams that that will perform most weeks like most teams. Like this season, there won't be any easy gsmes unless it's Richmond, Eagles or North (but we might see some improvement finally in North, so hard to say even with them).

Adelaide is an interesting one. I can see them fall away again, I can see them be that one of those mid-good teams or I can see them explode again. So I suppose this could be the worst double up for us other Brisbane, if we're worried about points for the home and away season.

Ultimately a tougher fixture just toughens you come finals, so if we're good enough this is just as ideal, if we're not at least will know where will need to improve on with constant examinations.

I do wonder if Port are a bit soft by requesting to avoid some Melbourne trips. JHF has yet to play North in Melbourne and now we play Port in Tassie

Having a cream puff game before the finals bye isn’t a leg up.

No, I think we request to play for home games at Launceston every year so we will almost always get a couple of interstate teams who don’t draw particularly well at the MCG down in Tassie.

Our crowds at the MCG versus interstate sides that aren't Sydney are generally unimpressive - is anyone really shocked that the Port game won't be at the MCG? Maybe if people turned up to milestone games (i.e. Burgoyne 400 at Marvel or Burgoyne's 350th versus the Crows) then they would schedule Port to play at the MCG. I am all for interstate clubs playing at UTAS because it means we get higher attendance games at the G and make more money.
