- Ranking - 6 v 7

AKA the lowest seeded final host who gets last choice of venue and timeslot, and given West Coast v. Collingwood must be played as soon as possible, and Port and Brisbane will get the other two night finals, that leaves St Kilda on Saturday afternoon, given Metricon is the Dogs' home ground, they are playing it in the only available neutral location.

botho Victorian sides currently based in Queensland

I like how you keep mentioning this thinking it has any relevance to anything whatsoever
- Preference - Obviously St Kilda would rather forgo additional travel and play at the Gabba or Metricon
How do you know? What makes it so 'obvious' that St. Kilda want to host the Western Bulldogs at their home ground? How do you know they didn't preference Adelaide Oval second?

This is reminiscent of the AFL forcing Geelong to play finals at our opposition's home ground plenty of times in the past.

Yea like the 2004 Prelim. Or literally every final from the 1950s to 2012 when there was never even a whisper of opposition to where Geelong played their finals.

Feel sorry for the Saints, AFL has form here - shifted our home final in 2015 to accommodate more Adelaide fans

No they didn't they did it for the benefit of all fans and played it at the Victorian home ground.

This is bullshit it punishes the winner of the game in the 2nd week of finals as they now have added unnecessary travel. And to make matters even worse their opponent (Brisbane or Richmond) has no travel.

And why is it happening anyway? There is already a game at Adelaide Oval anyway. Surely if you were going to force a venue it would be Metricon as it's not being used.

The AFL are intent on giving Brisbane a premiership this year.

Richmond will beat Brisbane comfortably, so Brisbane will be playing the winner of WB vs Saints.

This extra travel will give Brisbane more chance of going through to the prelim.

disgraceful.

what are the AFL doing?

Two teams whose home is Queensland this year

WTHF
Yet when North wanted to sell their last game at Optus you had Victorians whinging that it's not fair. The VFL is corrupt. There's no integrity whatsoever. I don't rate premierships won by home teams at the G as much as the premierships won by non home teams especially interstate teams. Would anyone of those Victorian teams like to play the Grand final at Optus. They'd sh*t their beds the night before.

Depends if it comes with home town umpires or not.

Well if maximising attendance is the only criteria being used (which it must be as none of the other criteria would place the game in Adelaide) surely St Kilda vs Bulldogs should be played in Perth.

Lets look at the other criteria.

- Ranking - 6 v 7 both Victorian sides currently based in Queensland - Play the game in Queensland
- Preference - Obviously St Kila would rather forgo additional travel and play at the Gabba or Metricon - Play the ******* Game in Queensland
- State Gov Requirements - both clubs already in Queensland hub - Play the bloody ******* game in Queensland
- Availability - Gabba only has one match same as Adelaide Oval and Metricon is free. - Play the bloody ******* game in Queensland you ******* numpties.
Perhaps Metricon was ruled out based on attendance, but then Perth was ruled out based on club preference? I don't claim to know, but I surely won't just take your level-headed word for all of that.
No we never get to play finals at Docklands.
Except for your most recent finals appearance, which you lost to Sydney anyway.
AKA the AFL will do whatever it wants to do and people should shut the hell up and hand over their money.
Nobody should hand over any money if they don't want to. But the rest of your statement is correct.

Well that wasn't actually 'hosting', it was being played there out of necessity. Docklands hasn't 'hosted' a final since 2005. In 2007 it was forced to be used because of obvious scheduling issues relating to round 22, and in 2011 four games were hosted in Victoria. It's hosted exactly 4 finals: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005.

Will there really be thousands more at Adelaide Oval over Metricon?

Will Crows supporters be lining up for tickets because they refuse to support Port?
Saints actually had quite a bit of Support in our games earlier there this year
Says who?

Are you mad because you earned a home final but won't get to host it at your preferred ground?

Is that the first time this has happened to you?
Saints have hosted 1 final in 20 years at our home ground...........

dont think it's be too bad tbh, by the time the AFL get in there and the sponsors etc... think it'd be a more divided crowd than normal it'd be

Saint's hosted our only "home" final at our "home ground in 2012 vs Swans.

Fair enough for the fans to be a bit dirty but the club should avoid any complaints , should be a good game though and potentially the best of the wk 1 games

you reckon we should just say nothing? let them dictate the terms....... I don't really care about the venue tbh, but it gives the Lions/Tigers a leg up the following week, considering their game will be over, and they're all in bed before Saints/Dogs get home, hope we screw some money out of the AFL, they sure as hell wouldn't do this to some other teams.

im driving 800km return to watch the eagles - no way id miss out on another final while im down.

How many times have you hosted a final interstate against a team from that state?
has WC? Brisbane is the only team that I know of, and it hasn't happened since 2004

Saints have hosted 1 final in 20 years at our home ground...........

No, you've hosted 1 final in about 80 years at your home ground by your faulty logic.
Saint's hosted our only "home" final at our "home ground in 2012 vs Swans.

You didn't play finals in 2012, and no it would of been played at the MCG if there were only 3 hosting Vic clubs.

has WC? Brisbane is the only team that I know of

Then you probably shouldn't be trying to explain anything related to finals hosting to anyone.

Non vic sides who played home games in Victoria:

1990: West Coast (Waverly)
1991: West Coast (Waverly despite finishing first)
1996: West Coast (MCG)
1999: West Coast (MCG)
2002: Adelaide (MCG)
2003: Should of happened, but Brisbane v. Adelaide was deemed too irrelevant to move, and Port v. Essendon would of been 8th hosting 1st.
2004: Brisbane (MCG)

So yes, it has happened to West Coast before.
