AFL Gold members. Are you going to grand final?

Yeah, got my ticket on Sunday morning too. Sitting in M20.

Seems the outlets a better option, as a guy from work got his ticket around 9.15am with no problems. Seems people struggled on the net just after 9.00am. I didnt think there is 22,000 tickets available in the AFL members for GF anymore, I thought the medallion members took 5K of us a few years back.

Would never risk the website for a GF. Take the time to go to an outlet.

Anyone who gets clipboarded using a borrowed AFL membership is a dead-set dope. They’re standing there plain as day with a clipboard in their arm and are always busy. If you can’t do a bit of observing and then walk through avoiding one then the member deserves all they get for lending their card to such a goose.

Very true. Also, the penalty for the AFL Member isnt too bad if you get caught. Your membership is downgraded to a Silver Member for 12 months. (Although if your team made the Granny the following year it would really hurt!)

Was 7th in line at Newport newsagency. Got mine at 9:07. Q15 Row E.

Only 40% of the allocation was available on the net, 60% available at outlets, so you're better off organising to line up early and go to an outlet.

You did well at Newport - must be a different guy serving than last year when tickets sold out by the time the bloke fourth in the queue was served. That guy was a smartarse and didn't bother having anyone assist him processing tickets and credit cards - made it very slow. But there was possibly greater demand last year compared to this year.

Got mine pretty quickly over the net this year - over and done by 9.05. Right in front of Meatloaf too

But I'd also suggest that those with 100% legit cards who have a spare minute make sure they get pulled up by the clipboards to help every else out :)

I got mine on Sunday (full AFL member), I had similar problems on the Ticketek webby, was logged in before 10am sale time, tried to get 3 tickets on M open, was rejected, same with N & P (single availability only), had the phone happening at the same time, and eventually got through there.

I quite like sitting close to the fence but by 10.10am apparently according to my helpful Ticketek phone representative row Z M19 was the closest, and he told me there was NOTHING else available in M at all. I found that a little hard to believe and told him so, but accepted the tickets of course. Maybe as previous posters said it is because of the allocation to outlets vs web vs phones. I wish they made their system more transparent, and give you a little more control over seating selection, for reserved seating all games.

For the 2007 GF against Port I was able to exchange seats after the first panic "best available" buy, couldn't do that this year. But anyway, not fussed this time around, feel sorry for anybody who missed out. Such a stressful time!!!

For the record I've never noticed those dudes with the clipboards, I thought they were like the Yeti, spoken of, but no hard evidence has come to light. I'll keep my eyes open on Saturday.

Are you referring to the replay last year? Or the first Grand Final.

Because the replay last year had all 100% of the tickets available across all channels. This meant that there could be thousands selling on the net all at once so if you were 3rd in line at an outlet you missed out.

That's why I got them on the net last year just for the replay.

But for the first Grand Final it was like today where 60% of available tickets were in a separate pool just available at outlets and 40% were available on the net.

So if the 4th person in line at Newport missed out last year, I think you would be referring to the replay?

I have seen them before but have not seen them at all this year nor have I heard of anyone being checked this year.

As others have mentioned, they are easy to spot and avoid.

Just for those of you like me who missed out and thought that Ticketek was the problem, I emailed the AFL about it. Well done to them for a quick answer. The online Ticketek allocation was sold out by 9.02am!

By my rough reckoning (60% allocation to competing club members then remainder split 60/40 between Ticketek outlets and online) only about 2,500- would have been available today online.

Except that it's up to a maximum of 60% to competing clubs - I don't think any combination actually reaches that level.

Still frightening if 40% of the balance sold online in less than two minutes.

I did have the full member breakdown once but can't put my finger on it. But I'm sure you are correct. It would take a Pies v Carl or Ess gf to get close to the 60% allocation.

I have emailed Ticketek too so I will be interested to see if their response matches up with the AFL.

I have no idea how they expect to clipboard people and check for signatures etc when the card itself has no signature panel and personally I have not filled in an AFL form for my membership for 6-7yrs.

'Hi, can we have some ID please?'
'I've lost my licence drink driving and don't believe in banks. Here is my medicare card though, which of course, has no signature either'

They ask for your AFL membership card and photo id. If you can't produce them then technically they can refuse entry and penalise the member, but they are weak as piss and any half decent excuse will get you in.

Have only ever seen them once, at a Final last year. Walked straight past one of them who didn't bother to pursue the matter, though he then bailed up the bloke behind me and asked to see his card and ID, even though he had entered on a GUEST PASS. This required some explaining to our clipboarded friend.

It doesn't take much to confuse them.
