Dream on, it wont get close to an EA quality release.

If RL live is anything to go, the graphics wont even look NextGen. Look at stadium graphics for an example.

The earlier AFL games on Ps2 still looks similiar to this.

Granted, budgets are limited, but don't release it, if it's not going to be up to standards.

EA's PC versions back in the late 90s were actually made in Oz by Aussies programmers too.

This week we had announcements at DICE, the conference that I was at in Vegas, that the guitar hero franchise was axed amongst others. The big guys are trimming their releases, things are going the way of hollywood for games, fewer releases that are made for mass audience, nothing for the fringes.

This is a dream project for me, but also a great personal risk as had it not turned out as well as it has done then I would have been completely shattered. I applaud HES/Tru Blu for having the courage to allow us to make a game that *I* want to play, and have wanted to make since I started in games 33 years ago.

Do you mean quality EA release's such as NBA Elite 11 ;)? With all due respect, I don't think it's fair to judge a game based on a seperate game which featured a different sport and had less production time just because it's made by the same company especially when we're yet to see gameplay footage.

No, I helped with some compression code in the 80's for them but never worked there. One of the few in the industry that hasn't :)

I find it unreasonable for you to compare PS2 to the graphics we have supplied. The edit in your post from the 80's to the 90's I hope was just a typo but it does lead me to think you're just trolling and I've bitten.

We have a game that is approaching EA's standards, they certainly are our benchmark.

Well i hope this game goes as well for BigAnt as it should...ive been following this thread for months and actually discovered BigFooty thru trying to find info about this game way back, and ive finally been moved to sign up and post something.

First of all... Ross, thank you for your patience and all the info you have delivered for this rabid mob over the months...im sure at times you have probably felt like tearing your hair out and even wondered if it was a good idea coming on here in the first place..(daily???!!) but im sure the majority of BF members are very grateful and wish you all the best for this and your other up-coming games

I've got 3 copies of AFL Live pre-ordered (2 for my brothers) and will be imploring the few mates that i have that have modded consoles to actually BUY this and help out the Aussie industry and inparticular BigAnt (and im sure if your a true Aussie rules fan u will want to do that anyway)...And i think the argument about the quality of graphics has been shot down by the screenshots of last week...

P.S. loving BigFooty cant believe it took me this long to discover it!!
 
Ross, I may have to sue you for damages since I'll probably fail Year 12 from playing your game too much :eek:

My holidays run from the 8th-27th of April, so at this stage it looks like I may only get a couple days, to play before going back to *shudder* studying.:(

Is there anything vague you may be able to say to cheer me up?:rolleyes:
 
Just out of curiosity..When will you guys start developing the next game? Do you start developing new games or do you take a break?
 
A few pages back somebody was saying that the game will be released on the 22nd of April or something close to that date, I was thinking today about the 5 day Easter/ANZAC weekend and that the game should be out before that, I say this because people will play the shit out of it during easter and some kids get easter presents.

You wouldn't want it out on the Thursday though because if you can't get it on the Thursday, you would have to wait 5 days to buy it, I think the 14th of April for the release date, hopefully sooner

I think i might have to do the same thing ross, playing the AFL game is way better then doing homework, even though I am in year 12 but definitely is worth failing for :D

I have the same problem but going on a camping/4wd trip to Dargo. hoping it is released April 14th or something close or before that. so at least get a week of playing it before 4wdriving it up and loads of bundy drinking time hahaha
