I've been planning on making a Essendon 2000 squad. My memory of the players isn't too good though so I'll probably have trouble with the stats.

Yeah ill be making a 1995 Carlton premiership team. Found the whole squad on an historical blues site, blueseum. It even had their playing heights and weights so it'll be as close as possible to playing against this generations big teams.

I'm putting them in as the 18th side in a season and seeing how they will go

I just played some AFL Premiership 2006 (sucker for punishment I know). I can look past the crappy graphics, the poor sound and so forth (Eye Toy implementation for player creation was pretty cool though I guess) but I just can't get past the 'press button and hope' marking contests - you never feel in control, if you know what I mean, it always feels like the game flips a coin to see who marks the ball. It's the same when you're looking to kick the ball upfield, players who are free will have green arrows above their heads, but it seems to come down to luck whether the ball gets to them or flies 30m over their head.

And kicking for goal on the run sucks, you have to take your eye off the action to look at the meter on the bottom of the screen and then press the square button when the ball that slides along the meter lines up with goal. Too bad that when it does you've been run down from behind because you're too busy looking at the meter and not the action. Horrible, horrible system.

I have read that Big Ant are trying to eliminate meters and so forth from the game to make it more natural. I hope they've succeeded and I hope that when you play you feel like you're in control. If I don't mark the ball I want it to be because I know I've done something wrong, not that I called heads when the game says tails.

EDIT: First thing I'll do is create myself in the player creator, then name myself captain of the Eagles (if possible). Then I'll play the derby and take out Hayden Ballantyne every chance I get :)

im going to put essendon richmond and carlton in the vfl where they belong its a pity they dont have little league in the game

It's also a pity that there's no VFL in the game either.

Nice try though.

OFF TOPIC: I'm sure you meant the Essendon 1999 side, I have an awesome memory of a certain prelim final that was better than any GF I've been too :)

theres a full fantasy draft which you can do pick by pick or just randomise round by round and there is a complex trading system based on salary and attribute points

I shall forward all the PM's to you.... arghhh!

Good idea. I can make it finish the way it was supposed to.
...No, that would be a very poor consolation.

Can you share created characters/teams by copying save files?

The fastest way to get a new video, press release, or anything else is to like this page and ask HES/Tru Blu for it - Tell them I sent you :D

I think they might scrap the game in a rage after you sent people there. Whilst you have built up some form of immunity to being bombarded, HES/Tru Blu are fresh and probably won't handle it well.:D

Is this some form of obscure revenge for something they did a while back, sending people out to torture them?

You are an evil, evil man!:p

I'm sure HES have Ross asking them to let him do things all the time :p

Any chance of it being in future versions?

i remember asking ross this question in the last part and he said its possible but the logistics of it would be pretty difficult especially to get all the players up to the quality that has been presented in this game. but there is always hope and maybe they could continue to work on this so in a few versions time it could happen. it would make for a wicked be a pro mode etc.

Just on this, it would be cool to start of as a 16 year old or something and work your way up and if you go well get a coaching gig after you retire etc.

Not quite on topic: If there was to be a be a pro mode, how would everyone like the drafting process to go? should it be realistic and make it random or should the player get a few choices as to where to go, coz it would be annoying to get drafted to port adelaide and want out straight away haha

Correct. There is no VFL in the PS3/X360/PC versions.

Some of the EB stores around Hobart still have the crappy cover claiming to be on all 3 platforms showing on the shelves for pre order, i imagine there will be a few angry customers when they get their ps3 or 360 copy and find no VFL. I've told a couple of them when i've been in there and was responded with "yeah, i know".

Also i noticed my question regarding the podcast where the guy mentioned hobart as somewhere you can play, was not answered. i'll take that as a you can't answer because you have been allowed to add it into the game and are allowed to mention it yet or you want to keep it secret for now. :p

saw an EB today with a future release cover.

mentioned sanfl and tac cup squads to be in the ps3 version.

immoral sales people.

I'd say they are ill-informed rather than immoral.

EB at Market Square in Geelong has the Wii feature set advertised for the PS3/360 versions as well as using the Wii cover. Plus it has the AFL Premiership 2006 screenies on the back. Dodgy

Whereas at JB Hi-Fi right next door they have correct slicks for all three games, and strong advertising in store. Odd how things can be varied so much.

Can't remember what EB in Westfield Geelong did however I have a feeling it was the Wii cover and feature set for the PS3/360 versions as well.

Hey, New member here. No offence to the Mods etc, But I've only registered for this topic, I've been reading it for ages and ages now, But had no reason to register, I just want to say, PLEASE keep the pages coming, I love night time, As I use this time before sleeping to check any new info on the game, But when there's only 3-4 pages through the whole day it only takes me 10 -15 minutes to read it all! I want to be seeing 10-15 pages a day! Come on people! :p

Ross, Is there any chance of mods being allowed on the PC version ? I'm buying the PS3 version first so I can play a few of my mates on the PS3, But I would also be into buying the PC version as usually games run smoother, and there's usually mod support for these types of games.

Or is your license strict on that no modifications are allowed and all the files are secured etc?
