Please tell me that brian taylor does not say oh boy wow wee in this game or ill throw the contorler threw my tv!

I look forward to it. I believe it has been mentioned that Brian Taylors commentary will be there in all its glory.
It will only become annoyng if it goes off at random things or is glitched to repeat like "comes on to the ground, comes on to the ground"

I'm quite sure most of us will love it.

Guys, in case you haven't picked up on it, the game is complete. Making requests or wishes for rookies to be included in the game could be an endless task for all, but will also be a pointless one.

Trublu have finally updated their website with dedicated pages for both AFL games.

www.trublu.com.au

Press Release link is there with nothing on the page ATM.........could it be today:eek::D:eek:

Guys everyone get on Facebook and be sure to 'Like' Tru Blu's Official Facebook page just launched from the HES Page. It says once it hits 500 likes the trailer will be released!!

I've posted this elsewhere, and up until now haven't said much about what we saw last week, but felt like adding my own little review this morning.

I'll say straight up that I've not pre-ordered the game, and am still deciding whether I will indeed pick it up. That being said....

There's plenty to like, including very realistic modelling of AFL players, even down to the huge snoz on Pavlich, or the artwork on Dane Swans arm.......the likeness for all players though is incredible. As soon as you see the face, you know the player as you're all aware.

The gameplay was hard to get a handle on initially, as there was 6 of us trying the game on for the first time, and as much as we were eager to play the game we were also terribly 'new' at it, meaning that for the most part it was a scrappy contest with lots of tackling and packs converging on the ball.

The thing with a game like AFL is that it's full of grey areas. There's so many little intricacies involved in a realtime game of AFL, and when trying to convert that into something playable the task of defining and controlling these minute 'plays' was one that BigAnt recognised early as a real challenge. But it works, and that's the thing, whether it's jumping up in the ruck and directing the ball to the rover who's standing behind you, or running through the middle and giving a 'don't argue' to the tackler coming at you, it's in here. You've just got to master it.
The game works very closely on the mechanics of FIFA, making it instantly playable for the most part. You can pick up the controller and be running and kicking the ball to a teammate in seconds, but it's that next level of gameplay that could really lift this game to great heights.
Whereas many sporting games of yesteryear relied on the trusted "button A = pass, button B = shoot", AFL LIVE has numerous instances of button combinations creating different 'plays'.
This to me will ultimately define just how well the game is received.

One thing to be remembered though is that this game is a foundation. Put simply, it's the very basis of where the AFL LIVE series will start. It's not going to be on the same level of sporting games with 4 and 5 years behind it, ala NBA LIVE, FIFA etc. It's an entry level game with big ideas, and although the ambition is big, they've hit extremely close to the mark.

As I said earlier, I'm not sold on the game like others who went that day are, but that's probably more to do with the amount of people who were trying to play the game that day, than the game itself.
I think this game will probably excel with a 1v1 or 2v2 set up, but 3v3 was just too muddy to be truly enjoyable....especially when we were all still learning.

Hey guys, ive just registered but have been reading the this thread for a while now, I just have one question, why did Big Ant decide to name the game AFL Live and not choose something fresh like Australian Rules Football 11 or something that doesnt have a past from another developer. I know that the EA and big ant games are a totally different series but surely Big Ant would want something that they can be recognized from without having the stigma of past EA games attached.

EA haven't made an AFL game since the late 90's. IR Gurus made the recent ones on PS2.

yes i know EA havent made the last bunch of games but EA have still used the AFL Live name and also the last one was AFL Live 2004 which was made by IR Gurus, surely Big Ant would want to distance themselves from those games.

How do you reckon it would go in a 3v0 situation? That's probably how me and my mates will end up playing.

Shane, stuff like shepparding really comes into play when you have mates, as does the handballing options etc.

The multiplayer is a plus in the way it plays, but with 6 n00bs playing it was pretty funny.

I'd think it would work ok, if you really did work as a team.
If you have 2 or 3 of you wanting to make the play constantly, you'll be in much the same trouble as a 3v3 game IMO.
The game has space, and time, and if you utilise it it will open up and be more enjoyable.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but are there awards like the brownlow medal etc at the end of the seasons and if so how are they implimented, is there a vote count or is it just tallied and the winner is announced?

Come on guys 40 people have liked the page in a matter of 15 minutes spread the word we could easily hit 500 in an hour!!

Also, to GALON, appreciate the insight mate but your 'review' really didnt tell us anything we didnt already know.
