I think that's actually a rule in the AFL, though I could be (and probably am) wrong. If you kick a goal but then get dumped after kicking it, you sometimes get a free kick and another shot on goal, effectively making it a 12 point play.

In real life, I think this only happens if the forward is dumped after the ball has crossed the goal line for a goal, because the dump is then considered to be in the next passage of play (again, could be totally wrong). It's a fairly rare occurrence in AFL Live from my experience.

Yeah I got it to go my way in one game. Would've been pissed if it went the other way. :D

I got a Big Ant badge ages ago but I'm pretty sure I wasn't playing against a Big Ant employee, just someone who had already beaten someone. Good player though. Played 3 games against him at about 4am and lost 2-1.

when i go to my leader board i have 7000 xp but im am ranked with guys with only 4000 y is this???

It is annoying that I feel compelled to take it easy on the opposition until I find out whether or not he is good. I at least try to make it fun though by chipping the ball around and testing out different things.

Hopefully after the patch the XP of the opponent will show up before the game. Sure, some people will quit if they see a big XP playing against them (I won't, I'll love the challenge) but it beats a quit in the 3rd quarter.

from deep within the team at Big Ant comes sock-tech :)

ZOMG!

So ruckman will finally look realistic with one sock up (to hold a shin guard) and one sock down!

You may have changed the ranking system to order based on the win/loss ratio or winning streak.

I always order based on XP because I have the highest ranking that way ;)

Hex...Would hit..:p

Pretty good review and sums up what most of us have said, including giving it time to get used to the controls. No surprise that there was only 0.5 separating their rubber chickens. SO often the case.
I'd hit Hex too... with a spikey baseball bat.

You're NOT pretty awesome for people who can't understand sarcasm.

A couple questions,
First, when holding triangle does your player still evade? I don't think I've ever evaded by holding triangle before picking up the ball, i always get taken down. Picking it up then hitting triangle as I'm about to be tackled seems to be the only it'll work for me.

Also, same thing I asked a while back but don't think it ever got a definitive answer, does swinging your arms and jumping on the mark actually help decrease the kicker's accuracy, or is it just for show?

Yeah this. Though I'm not really annoyed by it, I find it awesome when you keep the game close for 3 qtrs and then power home in the 4th, especially if your opponent has a headset :D

I like trying out a few things in the first 3 qtrs also. Getting really good and fast at moving the ball up the field after a kick in. The radar is your friend, learn to use it people. Just a heads up, if your the home team (your score is above the oppositions at the top left of screen, and your players' names appear on the bottom left of screen when you take possession) then you are the black dots on the radar. Away team is white dots :thumbsu:

Thats how its meant to work.

And its just for show.

1. You can only shrug when you have are in possession of the ball. A tip: Hold triangle to home in on the ball and pick it up. When you have possession, keep holding triangle while using the lower part of your thumb to continuously tap the circle button. This will do 1 of 3 things. a) If you are tackled you might shrug the tackle. b) If you are tackled and can't shrug it off, then you will most likely still get the handball out because you are also tapping the circle button. c) You will pick the ball up and get the handball out before being tackled. Remember to also hold the direction you want to handball in.

2. Yes, swinging your arm or jumping on the mark does do something....against the AI. Online I don't think it does anything. The key to doing it offline against the AI is doing it exactly as the opposition takes their shot. I don't mean just tap 'X' or 'O' when they kick, I mean that your player on the mark must physically perform the jumping animation or the swinging arm animation exactly as the ball is kicked by the AI. Sometimes there's a delay between pressing the button, and the animation, especially if your moving around on the mark a lot like I do (unsure if moving around on the mark actually helps though). You can tell when it works because the kick is a pretty big shank and there seems to be a slight shake of the screen as he kicks.

Ok I've asked twice to absolutely zero response but this is getting really really frustrating. Why is it that my human opponents always have numbers around the ball/overlap/can mark the ball/can tackle me yet when I get the ball I get pretty much immediately tackled? If I get told that I just have to learn how to play that'll be frustrating because if you can only control one player at once it's clearly not my opponent controlling the overlap and run.

There's obviously no science in it but I'm at the point of not even bothering to play online because every game I play is sooo one sided.

On top of this, hitouts. I hit it long, and my opponents run on to it and clear it. My opponents hit it long, my players run on to it and are immediately tackled. If I hit it sideways, it'll land in my opponent's wingers hands almost every time while my winger is behind and my rover just sits in front watching.

And Finally, I tell my backmen to play in front and they're CONSISTENTLY caught behind. ARGHGHG so annoyed. Ok venting over.
