My 360 is hooked up to Xbox Live via Wi-Fi. Will lag make AFL Live unplayable online for me?

Could have lag if you meet another wireless player due to latency issues rather than speed.

PS: OFF TOPICP: At E3, at least I can answer any questions you all might have about the Wii U and VITA, couldn't before now.

First thoughts from me were that Nintendo have departed from their "blue ocean strategy" which was to attract a casual market that previously didn't "exist", now they look like they have gone directly head on at the iPad/Tablets and the VITA (as it connectes very well to the PS3 and Bravia via wireless).... going to be an interesting year ahead!

EDIT: PS - If anyone wants particular knowledge about something showing at E3 don't hesitate to ask. The cross platform EA Sports stuff looks absolutely stunning!

Lag will be very hard to cope with but there is very rarely a lag issue, a the game isn't run on servers.

I really need this patch. Lately the freezing issue has gotten worse. The last 3 games I have played with my brother it has frozen in each game. I play as Richmond and he plays as his custom team.

Also I'm playing as Richmond on veteran in a full season, and i'm at round 8. The last 5 rounds it has frozen in each game at least once. I have tried the simulating AI games and that hasn't worked.

Hopefully MS and Sony can get their act together soon!

Pleaseeeeeeeeeee don't reset. I don't want to lose my position that i worked so hard for... I'm just saying i would be really annoyed if my stats got reset after everything i have done.. because no body plays me anymore due to getting beaten and i wouldn't be able to find enough games to get as high on the leaderboard as i am...

To cater for everyone, maybe there could be a reset each month as well as an 'All Time' category?

You guys working on Wii U and using the tablet in the next AFL Live?

I can't say what we are working on, however I can say that we have access to dev kits for all platforms, DS, 3DS, Wii, Wii U, NGP (VITA), etc...

You will see releases from us on all of Wii U, VITA, PS3, X360 within the next 12 months as those platforms are our intense focus.

Now Ross, you know better.

You're intense focus should be AFL Live .5 :)

Everytime I check my stats on the leaderboards I worry that they will have been wiped.

It'd just about end my love for the game, putting so many hours in for it all to be wiped in an instant. That's my trepidation for not really wanting it to be wiped as it is now, I've put a heap of hours in and for those that haven't, I sort of just say 'tough shit'. I realise how much it'd suck though if you had put all that work in and for whatever reason the game wipes them, but tbh I'd rather punish nobody than punish all by wiping them.

Personally, I think if you're going to wipe them, it needs to be done on a consistent basis. It'd be completely unfair imo to just wipe it once because of the patch and not do it again.

Monthly would be fine for me. Could live with that.
Agree with everything you've said. My love for the game will return when the patch comes out im sure, because the motivation for playing dumb and wasting time against quitters was to stay at the top. My new motivation is to seek games against the best players

With a cross platform game would you work in each platforms special? I.e Kinect on 360, tablet controller on the WiiU?

We would use the features of each to the best of our ability, of course, however there are other issues such as with Kinect you can't have a controller (not allowed!) - so it can't be an adjunct, ie Controller + Gestures.

I'm just not a fan of motion control for sports, personal taste, I can see it with Cricket and Tennis but for soccer, football, Gridiron, etc.. it just becomes a mass of mini-games imo.

Ross did you know details on the Wii U before today?

We get to see prototypes and work with most of the stuff before it comes out, if you figure a dev timeline of 18 months+ then to get it out within the first year they have to give you the stuff early. It's a two edged sword - nice to get it early but the form factors and spec's change quite late and other little things like they change the performance or sometimes take memory off you... or take away a complete feature.

They may have changed that rule. Mass Effect, Forza and Ghost Recon all have Controller + Kinect

Unfortunately it's still a rule for us... those guys would have put extreme pressure on MS to get it waived (eg. "well we won't support Kinect then").

That sucks, can maybe use them as a precedent from now on :)

Couldn't agree more. Probably add Golf as one that it does work well with though.

However, having no doubt seen NBA 2K12's new implementation of the game being a cursor based system for the Move. Is that type of system workable with an AFL game? I personally doubt whether the experience is, or would be elevated through implementation such as that. But it'd be interesting to see if you guys are looking at something of the like.

Also, able to give spec comparison of the Wii U compared to the PS3/360 and how powerful it is compared to them?

We always try that - that line works more with PS than Xbox, they have a much bigger hierarchy to get through (more guys to say "no").

It's PS3+ but not by much. There are so many different things to consider, the firmware and interfaces (programatically) can speed up or slow things down, so when you read the pure chip spec's and compare them you aren't getting apples and apples (hope that makes sense). Just as games mature, so do engines and firmware. I guess what I am saying is that from here I don't think the power of these machines are going to have an impact on gameplay, it will more be the design and user interface.

I just heard Holy Grail on the 7PM Project and instantly thought they were about to do a story on AFL Live...

lol - I know you all have heard enough of it but we've got two years on you, in the end you don't actually hear it at all, just silence :)

Lol, how about the commentary? Do you guys know each line of commentary word for word?

"DON'T TELL ME HE'S KICKED IT... HE HAS!"

Now I'm going to have that in my head all day.... thanks!

Ross, I remember on the Facebook Page, you saying something about a developers diary... Is this still going to happen?
